00:12I ordered something from China, namely, as you can see, a kidney grill for a BMW.
00:18Specifically, it's for a G30, G31, and, well, they had a highlight, let's say, a little one.
00:25As you can see here, there's an embedded LED.
00:30And it's supposed to reflect the look of the current models.
00:35So the new 5-series, the new 7-series, the XM and X6, and whatever they're all called.
00:41I think even the new 2-series now, they all have an illuminated strip in the front of the kidney grill, and they're legally allowed to use it while driving.
00:51They're allowed to use it because the kidney grill of the new vehicles is considered an installation part in combination with the headlights and is therefore allowed to be illuminated.
01:00Incidentally, this is not the case with the 5-series G30, G31, and also the 3-series G2021 and everything before that or with a similar year of manufacture.

01:25For one thing, there's a plug-and-play connector here, which I think is plugged in at the town hall.

01:45The vehicle is no longer under warranty anyway.
01:48That means I'll simply program it so that it only works when stationary.

02:00I connect it identically, so that it doesn't work while driving.

09:24So, that's totally bearable.
09:26Now the software is being updated so that it doesn't light up when the car is moving.

09:33of course there are no error messages in the instrument cluster.
