00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:08Today we're talking about an exciting motorcycle that was launched in 2023, the Honda CL500.
00:15If you're new here, feel free to subscribe so you don't miss any future content.
00:21The Honda CL500 brings a breath of fresh air to Honda's 500 family,
00:26as it's a scrambler with a retro feel and a proven engine.
00:30What's particularly interesting is that the model is perfect for riders who want to enter the A2 class.
00:39The CL500 combines everyday usability with a good portion of fun, whether on country roads or dirt tracks.
00:47Back in the 1960s, Honda launched a scrambler model with the CL72,
00:52which captured the charm and technology of the time.
00:55Now, more than 50 years later, the new CL500 continues this tradition by drawing on proven technology.
01:06At its heart is the engine from the Comex 500 Rebel,
01:09a highly successful cruiser model from Honda that was already the best-selling bike in the cruiser segment in 2020 and 2021.
01:17Design and Technology
01:19The CL500 is visually based on its classic predecessor from 1962.
01:27It comes with a 19-inch front wheel, block tread tires, knees on the tank and a raised exhaust,
01:33which is protected by a perforated stainless steel heat shield.
01:36These details not only give the motorcycle the typical scrambler look,
01:41but also improve its suitability for everyday use.
01:45Technically, the CL500 is based on the Comex 500 Rebel.
01:49However, a lattice structure has been added to the rear to create space for a pillion passenger.
01:55A highlight of the CL500 is its handling.
01:58Although the rider's seat is 790 millimeters higher than on the cruiser model,
02:04the seating position remains comfortable thanks to the narrow design.
02:08At 192 kilograms with a full tank,
02:11the machine can be maneuvered easily and playfully even in tight corners.
02:15The wide handlebars and ergonomic rubber grips also contribute to a pleasant riding experience.
02:21Even for taller riders, the CL500 offers sufficient space without compromising on agility,
02:27performance and driving pleasure.
02:30Under the hood is a 471cc twin-cylinder engine that delivers 47 horsepower at 8,500 revolutions per minute.
02:39The maximum torque of 43.4 newton meters at 6,250 revolutions per minute ensures dynamic acceleration,
02:47especially in the city and on country roads.
02:50Even though the CL500 is no racing machine with a top speed of 154 kilometers per hour,
02:56this power is easily sufficient for short stretches on the motorway.
03:01Thanks to well-tuned mapping and slight modifications to the intake and exhaust,
03:06the twin is particularly fun in the mid-speed range.
03:10The low fuel consumption of just 3.6L per 100 kilometers is a major advantage for longer distances.
03:18With 12L, you can achieve a range of over 300 kilometers with moderate driving.
03:22Chassis and brakes
03:25The chassis of the CL500 is designed for comfort and versatility.
03:30The long suspension travel of 150 millimeters at the front and 145 millimeters at the rear
03:36ensures that the bike remains pleasant to ride even on uneven roads.
03:40The high ground clearance offers additional safety for use on dirt roads and easy off-road routes.
03:46With the wide handlebars and knee pads, you can even ride relatively comfortably while standing off-road.
03:53The braking system is also well-tuned.
03:56A 310 millimeters disc at the front, in combination with a two-piston brake caliper,
04:02ensures sufficient braking power that can be easily metered.
04:05Equipment and accessories
04:06The CL500 deliberately dispenses with unnecessary electronics and relies on simple and robust equipment.
04:14A dual-channel abs and a slipper clutch are standard equipment.
04:19Particularly noteworthy is the S-emergency brake signal, which lights up the rear indicators when braking hard.
04:26A useful function in times of increasing distraction in road traffic.
04:30The round instrument with LC display is simple, but shows all the important information such as speed,
04:37gear, remaining range and fuel consumption.
04:41A tachometer would have been a nice extra though.
04:45Honda also offers various accessory packages for the CL500 that can be customized.
04:52Whether adventure, style or travel, there are suitable extras for every taste.
04:56From rally footrests to a 12-volt socket and heated grips.
05:01There is also a choice of colors from bright orange to classic matte finishes.
05:07The CL500 is available in Germany from €6,990.
