00:00Welcome to the tuning blog video about the stylish and electric Lancia Y with the revival of the Lancia brand, the Italians are striving to revive style and elegance.
00:18However, they will only succeed in doing so with the support of the group.
00:22The Y will be coming to Germany in 2025 and although it will not be officially available for another two years, initial impressions have already been gathered.
00:34Many people probably didn't even know that Lancia still existed.
00:40The traditional brand had withdrawn in 2017 and only maintained a limited business in Italy with the last remaining model, the Y.
00:48However, this was surprisingly successful.
00:52In 2023, the small car reached third place among the best-selling vehicles in Italy with around 45,000 units sold.
01:04Giving up on the little car completely was therefore out of the question, simply because of its important domestic market.
01:11And so the new generation is currently rolling into Italian dealerships and several other European countries at the same time.
01:17The year 2025 is planned for Germany, when the Y will be available at 25 dealerships.
01:28The new Lancia Y is intended to impress with its premium aspirations and stand out from the crowd.
01:33The new addition was made possible because Lancia, like its parent company Fiat, is now part of the Stellantis Group and can therefore rely on the group's technology.
01:43Consequently, the new Y is technically closely related to the Opel Casa and the PY-208 and will be produced in the same way as the Casa.
01:54However, Lancia emphasizes the independence of the Y and consistently refers to it as the only premium small car in the group.
02:03After all, premium is the direction in which Lancia wants to go as a brand.
02:08Of course, this also helps to justify higher prices.
02:11Visually, the premium appearance is definitely recognizable.
02:14The Y, which has a very distinctive design at the front and rear, is far from an ordinary small car.
02:21With its striking design and round lights at the rear, it is a real eye-catcher.
02:27The rear door handles are elegantly hidden in the C-pillar, which creates a clean sideline.
02:33You could almost call it a designer piece.
02:36There's no question that you'd be hard-pressed to mistake it for another model.
02:40The interior of the little car also looks appealing, clean and classy, as is currently trendy.
02:51Two easy-to-read screens ensure a clear overview and the touchscreen can be operated without having to click through countless submenus.
03:00There are also plenty of storage options for small items.
03:03The manufacturer claims 25L of storage space in the interior.
03:10However, even the designer probably doesn't know what to put on the small tray under the air vents without it flying off in the next bend.
03:19However, it does look nice and other cars simply don't have anything like it.
03:24It's very nice that there are still real buttons, for example for adjusting the mirrors or the air conditioning.
03:31That's not a given these days.
03:33Unfortunately, the button panel below the air vents is often in the shade and therefore difficult to read.
03:40Perhaps a better solution could have been found here.
03:43As chic as it all looks.
03:47Apart from a soft felt-like surface on the doors below the side windows, everything is made of simple hard plastic.
03:53The self-imposed premium standard is clearly not achieved here.
04:00This is somewhat disappointing, as one would have expected Lancia to place more emphasis on high-quality materials here.
04:07The seats, on the other hand, are well-shaped and give the impression of being suitable for long distances.
04:13They offer sufficient comfort and support, so that even longer journeys should be pleasant.
04:17The rear seats are also quite comfortable for a small car, although space is naturally somewhat limited.
04:27After all, the Y measures just 4.08 meters in length.
04:32However, for a small car, the space is quite acceptable.
04:36The trunk is a decent size and, in the hybrid model, offers a usable 352L.
04:42The Y with electric drive has slightly less space due to the battery, namely 309L.
04:50However, this should be sufficient for everyday needs.
04:54A look at the two drive options makes it clear that this is where independence comes to an end.
04:59The data for the all-electric model with a 115kW engine, 156hp and a 51kW battery, net usable,
05:11as well as the Y with a petrol hybrid with 74kW and 100hp can also be found in the data sheets of the Peugeot 208,
05:18Opel Kasa, Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600.
05:21But that's not a problem, because both engines also perform well in the Lancia.
05:29The electric motor impresses with its spontaneous, delay-free acceleration,
05:34which not only makes the small car a maneuverable city car,
05:37but also ensures a good portion of driving fun and fast overtaking maneuvers in the countryside.
05:42The Lancia accelerates from 0 to 100km per hour in a good 8.2 seconds, more than enough for a small car.
05:53You really don't need more for everyday use.
05:55On the motorway, however, the speed limit is 150km per hour.
06:01That should be sufficient for most situations, since higher speeds are rarely sensible or permitted anyway.
06:06According to Lancia, the range is around 400km according to WLTP, which is on par with the Pulgo E-208.
06:17This model has already been measured in the more realistic EcoTest.
06:21With a consumption of an economical 16.0kWh per 100km,
06:27the French car achieved a range of 360km with mixed driving.
06:32The Lancia should also achieve this.
06:36The Lancia's consumption is specified by the factory as 14.3 to 14.6kWh per 100km,
06:43which seems quite realistic.
06:46The Y can be recharged at fast charging stations with a charging capacity of 100kVA,
06:52which is considered average these days.
06:55However, this should be sufficient for a small car with a manageable battery.
07:00After 30 minutes of idle time, at least 80% of the battery should be charged again.
07:04At AC charging stations in the city or at its own wallbox,
07:09the Italian car charges with a maximum of 11kW.
07:12A completely empty battery is then fully charged again after around 5 hours.
07:17This is quite practical for everyday use.
07:21Anyone who doesn't want to spend 34,000€ on the electric Y, which is the price in Italy.
07:26The price for Germany has not yet been set, can also live well with the hybrid version,
07:31which costs around 24,000€.
07:33The turbo three-cylinder is supported by a small, powerful electric motor and,
07:42with its 74kW, 100hp, is not quite as lively as the pure electric drive,
07:47especially at highway speeds in the Y, but the vehicle is not lacking in power.
07:51The performance is absolutely sufficient for city traffic and occasional cross-country trips.
08:03Although the hybrid with 0.9kW, 100hp is not intended for long-term electric driving,
08:09a few hundred meters can be covered electrically in the city with a gentle throttle until the
08:14combustion engine gently cuts in.
08:15With normal and mixed driving, consumption values of around 5 in front of the decimal point should
08:23be achieved, and even less in the city.
08:27This is a good value for a small car and easy on the wallet.
08:32Another positive aspect is that the hybrid is always equipped with a smooth-shifting automatic
08:36transmission, which further increases driving comfort.
08:39It is unusual at first that the hybrid decelerates somewhat more than a normal combustion engine
08:46when the accelerator is released, as recuperation starts immediately and the hybrid is charged
08:51during coasting.
08:54However, you quickly get used to this and it contributes to the efficiency of the vehicle.
09:00What is even more noticeable about the hybrid than with the already quiet electric car is the
09:05lower noise level compared to other models.
09:09With additional insulation measures in the engine compartment, Lanzia has managed to set
09:14the small car apart from its corporate brothers and at least creates a hint of premium quality.
09:20The driving noise is pleasantly muted and wind and road noise are also kept to a minimum.
09:27The Y scores points not only with its technical features, but also with its external appearance.
09:33The color palette is diverse and the Y cuts a particularly good figure in gold.
09:39This gives the vehicle a touch of luxury and underlines Lanzia's premium claim.
09:45Lanzia has also made improvements in terms of safety.
09:48Modern assistance systems support the driver in everyday life and increase safety for all occupants.
09:55From lane-keeping assistant to adaptive cruise control and emergency braking assistant,
10:00everything you would expect from a modern vehicle is on board.
10:03Overall, the new Y is an interesting alternative in the small car segment, even if it is a bit more expensive.
10:12However, Lanzia itself is standing in the way of wider distribution,
10:16because with only 25 dealers in Germany, the sales network is very manageable.
10:20This should also apply to the upcoming models Gamma, which is due to be released in 2026,
10:29and Delta, which is planned for 2028.
10:32Whether Lanzia can really reach a larger customer base with this remains to be seen.
10:35It is to be hoped that Lanzia will focus more on high-quality materials in the interior in the future
10:44and perhaps also expand the sales network,
10:47because the Y certainly has the potential to assert itself in the small car segment.
10:51With its distinctive design, modern engines and the claim to be a premium small car,
10:58it could be of interest to many buyers.
11:03In summary, the new Lanzia Y offers a successful mix of style, technology and driving pleasure.
11:11Anyone who values an individual design and is prepared to invest a little more
11:15will find the Y an interesting alternative to the established small cars.
11:21It remains to be seen how the market will receive the new model
11:24and whether Lanzia will be successful with its premium claim.
