00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine TuningBlock, where today we're going to talk
00:12about the two brand new vehicles from Volkswagen, the Scout Traveler Concept and the Scout Terra
00:16Concept, which are announced for 2027. First of all, remember to subscribe so that you don't
00:22miss any exciting updates on further vehicle presentations. With these two models, Volkswagen
00:31is breathing new life into a real American classic and is thus bringing the Scout brand back onto the
00:35market. Both models, the Traveler as an SUV and the Terra as a pickup, stand for robust off-road
00:43vehicles that are primarily aimed at a clientele that values a practical and functional vehicle.
00:47The focus is on craftsmen, cowboys and farmers, people who need a real workhorse and not a luxury
00:55car. The Terra is seen as a direct response to the Tesla Cybertruck, but has a much more
01:02conventional design and therefore appeals to a different target group. While the Cybertruck
01:09appears almost flashy and aggressive, the Terra and the Traveler present themselves as down-to-earth
01:14and likable. Almost a bit nostalgic like the old Scout models. Visually, both models stand
01:22out with their angular and clear lines, while the interior provides a modern contrast. Large
01:29displays and yet many real buttons and keys make operation intuitive and user-friendly. Under
01:35the hood of both Scouts is state-of-the-art technology. Both models are purely electric and offer an impressive
01:41range of 550 kilometers. That's more than enough for long trips and everyday tasks. But that's not all.
01:51Thanks to the 800-volt technology, the batteries can be charged with up to 350 kilowatts, which
01:57significantly reduces recharging times. With over 1,300 Newton meters of torque, the vehicles also have a
02:05powerful start and can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just three and a half seconds.
02:12That's a real sports car performance. If charging is not yet so well developed, especially in rural areas
02:19of the USA, VW has a clever solution ready. The models can optionally be equipped with a small gasoline engine
02:28that serves as a range extender. This increases the range to over 800 kilometers, which is particularly
02:35practical for long journeys. The vehicles thus combine the best of both worlds, modern electrical
02:41engineering and the reliability of a classic combustion engine. The two new Scouts also score
02:47points in terms of manpower. With a towing capacity of up to 5 tons and a payload of around 1 ton,
02:55they are ideally equipped for heavy loads and demanding tasks.
02:58The Terra also offers a frunk, i.e. a front trunk in which you can conveniently store tools or a cooler.
03:08Perfect for long days in the field or on the construction site.
03:12In addition to the technical equipment, the production location is also an exciting new feature.
03:18The vehicles will be manufactured in South Carolina and are expected to create over 4,000 new jobs.
03:23This is not only an economic success for Volkswagen, but also a clear signal to American customers.
03:32VW is serious about its comeback in the USA. Although the two models are initially intended for the US
03:39market, export to Europe is certainly conceivable. With their electric drive technology and rustic charm,
03:47the Traveller and the Terror could also arouse interest here in Germany, especially because they do not
03:52seem quite as radical and special as the Cybertruck. With a solid technical basis and a clear focus on utility,
04:01these models definitely have the potential to gain a foothold in the European market.
