00:32My name is Jocham Uber.
00:34I work in research at BMW.
00:36I have spent my entire professional life working with new technologies, which is why I always wanted to keep an eye on them and screen what is available on the market.
00:47I am Felix, one of the founders and managing directors of DeepDrive.
00:51We have developed an engine that is designed for high volume mass production and is also the most efficient on the market.
00:57That's when I noticed the wheel drive and that a startup called DeepDrive was working on this topic.
01:04The first major milestone was the IAA, the International Motor Show here in Munich.
01:09Interesting people kept coming by.
01:12One of them was Jochen from BMW who found it incredibly exciting and we had an incredibly good exchange.
01:19That was the first core group that we had to work with together.
01:23For us, the BMW Startup Garage was a really early springboard because it helped us gain a foothold in the complex jungle of a large corporation and understand what the processes are and who the people are that we need to discuss things with.
01:40The BMW Startup Garage offers us an excellent opportunity to get in touch with these startups and we will continue to work with the best startups including DeepDrive.
01:52We have a cooperation project planned to continue to test their good technology for BMW applications so that the potential really reaches us in series production.
02:00Virtually everyone we spoke to at BMW is open-minded.
02:04This is evident in the BMW Startup Garage and the program there.
02:07This is evident in BMW Adventures.
02:09BMW has understood that I have to invest in startups but that this investor has to be completely independent.
02:14Otherwise, this structure does not work.
02:16Otherwise, this startup company will not become big if it commits to just one partner too early.
02:20This collaboration on very different levels has shown us that Ben-Peter is a pioneer.
02:30The most important characteristic is efficiency, i.e. electric range for a customer.
02:35It is well known that this is an issue for e-mobility.
02:39These values were exceeded and that was in the first measurement without iterations.
02:44And then, of course, it was a real accolade for us that BMW actually said,
02:50Hey, we trust your measurement results. We can do this project on your feet.
02:53In most cases, their technologies and their sample parts have exceeded what they announced.
02:59And that is actually unusual in such an initial phase with a completely new technology.
03:05For us, the last one and a half to two years have been absolutely crazy.
03:09Things really went up steeply with BMW being the first to look at Deprive.
03:15Many have since followed suit. We have intensified our cooperation.
03:18We are currently working with eight of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world.
03:22In the future, if all criteria are met, it will be possible to achieve weight savings of up to 100 to 150 kilograms.
03:31You will get a significantly higher electric range and the vehicle can also be a bit cheaper.
03:40The next big milestone for us is to get into the first series, and we are well on our way to achieving this in the next year and a half.
03:46Startups are important to us because they show us new perspectives with unconventional, out-of-the-box thinking,
03:50which also helps us move forward much faster in bringing innovations into cars.
03:55Again, we are at least one that we have a stretch, because someone would thankfully let us very well.
03:56Thanks a lot.
03:57Thanks a lot of friends.
03:58Thanks for listening.
03:59Thanks a lot.
04:00Thanks for listening.
