00:00another guy that i feel like uh people have been talking about is alexi lafreniere um he's got one

00:09goal three assists in 11 games a team worst minus nine just uh what's your evaluation of his start

00:17to the season here yeah no not good enough uh for what he's been given responsibility to do

00:25right like that's what comes with that contract and he earned it i thought he was lights out before

00:32he signed it um and you know it's it's time to start putting it together a little bit again

00:41because it's there we've seen stretches and long enough stretches we've seen playoff

00:45seasons where he's been a real effective player and guys go through this he just he needs you need

00:52more out of him right now and it's it's there he's got it but uh he should be like one of the

00:59guys i don't know if he is you're there more than i am but like i see we talk about it all the time

01:04we talk about crosby before and after practice we talked i've talked about kucherov before and after

01:09practice and i've seen marked improvement with different guys that just stay like brian rust is

01:15with he's on crosby's hip every morning and every you know post practice and all of a sudden that

01:20guy's shot is incredible like he's got this release he doesn't miss and our laugh is set up in a spot

01:26on a power play where he's going to have opportunities to shoot but it's one stick handle every time so

01:31if there's a tweak i'd make it'd be like get it off quicker and just hit the net you don't even have

01:37to if you get off one timer or sweeper where you don't stick handle goalies are good but they're not

01:41that good it's gonna it's gonna lead to points either goes in the net or it sits right on the doorstep

01:46and right you know and the coaching staff will tweak with that because i'm sure they've seen

01:51glimpses of what the ceiling could be and there's a reason he went where he went and there's a reason

01:57that he got the contract he did because he earned it and um there i think they're probably all like

02:04panarin too to an extent is trying to embrace this way of playing and panarin played for torts for a while

02:09um he doesn't he he should be panarin should be allowed to do different things and you would think

02:17okay if there's a little bit of different structure could he adapt and yeah i think he could because of

02:21how well he did in columbus under torts so last night i see him dump the puck in more in a game than

02:28i saw last season so he's trying to buy in and and you know a couple times his line mates were changing

02:34he's going in to get it but like then he gets off and you have four of the five fresh guys out like

02:39those are wins for me and eventually he's going to get his opportunities because everybody's bought

02:44in especially if he's buying in so there is an adjustment like we talked about in this in the in

02:50the fall before the season started a couple months or a couple weeks ago like they're going to look

02:54great sometimes they're going to be really good defensively it's not going to be perfect every

02:58game it's going to take going to take halfway through the season until they can really hit the

03:02ground running because it's a lot of change new coaching staff you know a couple people out a couple

03:08people in it's a lot of change so when you have solid like all right punch the clock two points

03:15we get out of here wins like that yeah you want to put up six seven goals and have everyone feel good

03:21but like that's a great like foundational piece when go back to that game when you're struggling in

03:27three weeks or you have a rough night in three weeks this is what we did so well where it's in

03:31there we can get back to it and laugh for near you can build off that make sure you're doing the

03:36littler things right changing hard for checking defending like don't be on the ice for goals

03:41against or chances against some of that's empty netters but and then your game's going to start

03:47to open up a little bit teams are going to back off and you'll get more time and space

03:50to open up a little bit
