00:00So, today we received the so-called Supercap 2 Jump Starter from the company Auto.
00:10It's basically a small battery pack for charging the vehicle battery.
00:16Especially now in the winter, it's probably inevitable that one or the other vehicle will give up the ghost early in the cold temperatures, short distances and many consumers.
00:25Either because the vehicle battery is dead or because you simply don't drive enough and use too many consumers at the same time.
00:35The device is relatively compact. It probably fits in pretty much every glove compartment or at least in the trunk.
00:43Yes, every little gap.
00:48Uh, it has a little rubber cover up here wait a minute, does it have the connections for the two cables, right?
00:55Black minus, red plus, that should be clear.
00:59This is the charging cable to charge the device.
01:03It has a standard, what do you call it? Micro USB port.
01:08Can you see it now?
01:12Yes, the one that every cell phone actually has it goes into this port and this is where the device is switched on.
01:20You can see it up here again.
01:21Output, input, on and off.
01:27Um, the thing is completely empty now.
01:30I have to charge it first.
01:32Um, I have a cable for that here.
01:35The charger is not included, but you can use any USB charger.
01:39You simply plug it in here and then it should work.
01:52Yes, the device is completely empty, 1% and now it's on.
01:58Um, I think it's phenomenally fast, right?
02:01You can watch out, so 10% in about 15 to 20 seconds.
02:11Um, you can imagine, I don't know if it will continue like this.
02:15I'll definitely write about it in our blog post whether it will continue like this, but it looks like it will.
02:23So that means it will probably be fully charged in 10 minutes or 15 minutes and can be used.
02:28Um, according to Autowit, it won't discharge either.
02:34If it's in the vehicle now, um, if it's been in there for an entire winter, then you should plug it in again.
02:41Uh, that's not the case.
02:44So it can probably be used 10 or 15 times to start a vehicle.
02:47We'll just try that out.
02:50And, uh, yeah, very practical piece.
02:54We'll charge it now and I'll show you next how to use it on the vehicle.
02:58It's pretty self-explanatory, right?
03:00There are two cables for it.
03:02Uh, yes, I'll show you in a moment.
03:07So it won't go that fast, but yes, after 5 minutes it's at 41% and you can also charge it with a power bank, for example.
03:14I have one here just for testing, right?
03:32So, it should do its job now, right?
03:40Exactly.
03:41Okay, it's relatively powerful.
03:44Uh, but it also works with smaller ones.
03:53Exactly, so that would also be an alternative.
03:55Let's say, everyone probably has a power bank and, uh, yes, it can also be used for charging, as I said.
04:02There's one thing I wanted to mention briefly, and that is that I've now fully charged the device, right?
04:07It was at 100%.
04:08However, it was left for a good 24 hours because I couldn't finish the test on the vehicle right away.
04:15I thought I'd do it today.
04:16Uh, I turned it on, like now.
04:18So really negative, in my opinion.
04:24It now has 67% battery power.
04:27So, I didn't do anything, it had 100% battery power, it was switched off.
04:31If it's not used, uh, it separates itself anyway, uh, and so it basically discharged to 33% in 24 hours, or let's say 30 hours.
04:42So, I don't know if it will continue like this if it's left here for another 5 days, uh, whether it will then have 0%.
04:51Especially in winter, when you have it in the car, where it's cold, everything probably goes much faster.
04:56At that point, the whole point of the device is already questioned for me, because I need it in situations where the engine is running out, where the car battery is flat, and not half an hour later, when I have to charge it somewhere or need another car to charge the battery pack first.
05:13Then I can just use jumper cables and save myself that.
05:20So, that's completely incomprehensible to me right now.
05:23Why and why is that?
05:25Now even 1% is gone again.
05:27Okay, it was on for a very short time, but in my opinion that shouldn't really be the case for such a huge device.
05:36Either I made an operating error here, that I didn't understand something correctly, but I don't think that's likely,
05:41or yes, this is simply the current state of the art.
05:47Okay, nevertheless, let's move on to the vehicle anyway.
05:51I'll charge it up to 100% again and then we'll try it outside.
05:57So, that wasn't a snapshot.
05:59I left it lying around for 2 more days and it was at 100%, wasn't used and will be down to 30% in another 2 days.
06:07So in plain language, that means that if the device is left somewhere for a week,
06:11it's definitely completely flat and if you want to start your car, you have to go to the trouble of charging the device first.
06:20So no matter what it can do, how great it is, how neatly it's packaged, that's completely missing the point for me.
06:26Sorry, guys. So, now for the practical test.
06:32Um, we're trying it out in the Audi A38P.
06:35Um, it's an 18-cylinder and 4-cylinder.
06:39It's not an 8-cylinder or a 12-cylinder, where we can test the device, let's say.
06:43The manufacturer talks about getting rid of such engines and yes, we don't have anything else available here.
06:51It's dead, but the battery is completely dead.
06:54It's also so flat that you can't charge the device with it.
07:09Because Autowit also states that you can charge the device with the charger,
07:13i.e. with the car battery, if it still has a little bit of juice.
07:16That's not the case here.
07:28That means we would have to charge the device either at the socket or somewhere else or with another vehicle.
07:38So, the connection is relatively simple.
07:43Here is the vehicle battery.
07:46The connecting cables are black and black and red and red.
07:54Exactly, then we have the connections for it here.
07:59That should all be pretty clear.
08:10Okay, plug it in here. The device starts up by itself.
08:16According to the description, you should now press the start button and then you probably have 10 seconds to get into the vehicle.
08:22If you hear a continuous whistling sound, that's it.
08:31Should you start the car? Okay, it works. I didn't really expect anything else.
08:41It works.
08:50Exactly.
08:51Disconnect the clamps again and the device switches itself off
08:57Up until then, everything was fine. It worked as advertised
09:05Um, yeah, I didn't really expect anything else, but as I said, the problem of this permanent extreme discharge remains
09:14Um, Autoit states that you can pre-charge it with your own vehicle
09:17Okay, that's still possible if the battery still has some juice, but that's not the case
09:22Then it gets difficult
09:23Then the manufacturer states that you can do it with another vehicle
09:27Um, I don't understand that at all, because if you have another vehicle, you can also use it to jumpstart the battery
09:33Then I can actually save myself the trouble of using the device in between
09:38And, um, yeah, as I said, that would be the biggest drawback, which makes the device almost unsuitable for me
09:44Um, if it simply stored the juice, then everything would be fine
09:49Then it's small and handy, you can stow it in the vehicle
09:53Um, if it holds its juice for a quarter of a year, let's say, or maybe even a quarter of a year or four months, then it's completely sufficient
10:02After that, it's also understandable if you have to charge it occasionally, but it shouldn't be completely empty within two or three days
10:08I don't understand that, that kind of misses the point for me
10:11Um, yeah, that's my conclusion on the whole thing
10:15Interestingly, I just realized that I had turned off the engine for the video
10:23Wanted to start it up again, um, do that again, right?
10:28And basically wanted to give the device a second start
10:31And now it's telling me that, I don't know if you can see it on the display, um, it says here, low battery
10:41So, that means it's not really possible to start it again
10:44So, the battery is so weak now that it can't charge the vehicle either
10:48I can't start the public four-cylinder a second time
10:52Um, yeah
10:54No, guys, sorry
10:56Completely incomprehensible to me
11:00Low battery, no chance
11:02Also, you can't start a small 1.8 L four-cylinder a second time
11:07To be honest, even a simple power bank could probably do it
11:12Oh well, okay, good
11:26Ha ha ha
