00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today it's all about the revised interior of the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette.
00:10From the Stingray to the ZR1, all models of the new Corvette generation are finally saying goodbye to the so-called button panel,
00:18which previously separated the driver and front passenger with a massive control panel.
00:22Our long-term experience with the C8, covering approximately 60,000-1,000 kilometers,
00:30has shown that this separation in the interior could lead to more than just discussions about speed limits or behavior in the left lane.
00:37It was simply a design obstacle in everyday driving.
00:41Starting with the 2026 model year, this will change fundamentally.
00:46The control panel for the air conditioning and seat heating is now located on the center screen,
00:51with some functions presumably also being relocated directly to the touchscreen.
00:57While this isn't the ideal solution, at least a physical volume control is retained, even in an enlarged form.
01:05By eliminating the button panel, Chevrolet is using the freed-up space to significantly expand the digital display elements.
01:12The digital instrument cluster has grown from 12 to 14 inches,
01:18and the central touchscreen now measures approximately 12.7 inches.
01:22Previously, it was just 8 inches.
01:25The new system is based on Android and offers integrated Google services with direct access to many popular apps.
01:34The Performance app, originally exclusive to the Air-A hybrid model, is now available in all Corvette versions.
01:40It can be used to record acceleration values and g-forces.
01:46Additionally, a new 6.6-inch touchscreen has been installed to the left of the square steering wheel.
01:52This can be used to view the route, adjust the head-up display, or adjust the traction system.
01:59Also part of the model update is the new PTM Pro Driving Mode.
02:04This deactivates traction control and the stability program, but leaves the anti-lock braking system active.
02:10The Air-A also retains front-wheel assist.
02:14In short, anyone who wants to take their driving skills to the next level will have the opportunity to do so here.
02:20The center console has also been fundamentally changed.
02:24The previous rotary dial for the driving modes has been replaced by a toggle switch,
02:29which shares space with the gear selector.
02:31The removal of the button panel created space for a new grab handle.
02:35This is particularly useful for passengers using the PTM Pro system.
02:41There is also now a wireless charging station below the central screen, secured by a cover.
02:46This prevents the smartphone from becoming a dangerous flying object during dynamic driving.
02:54The cup holders have lost their covers, possibly in favor of larger dimensions that are more suitable for thermos cups.
03:01Also new is ambient lighting in this area, and higher-end trim levels feature real aluminum trim.
03:11An expanded color palette in the interior, including a variant called Very Dark Atmosphere, provides visual variety.
03:18Those who prefer a particularly sporty look can combine the new red competition seat on the driver's side with a black passenger seat, in the style of a Ferrari F80.
03:30Chevrolet also offers an optional electrochromatic glass roof with individually adjustable tint.
03:37Although complete information on the model range and market launch is not yet available, initial details on new options have already been revealed.
03:45The Airi and Z6 models can optionally be fitted with blue brake calipers to match the ZR1.
03:52The latter can also be upgraded with the ZTK Performance Package, which includes larger braking systems.
03:59Piston calipers at the front, 6 piston calipers at the rear, each combined with carbon fiber brake discs the size of an SLR.
04:09As always, you can find the link to read the article in our magazine in the video description.
04:15Was the information about the new interior of the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette interesting?
04:20Then please subscribe.
04:27The overall design goal for the new Corvette interior was to take what we had before and really enhance the experience.
04:34There's so much attention to detail in the way all the different parts and pieces of the interior come together.
04:47We've got these beautiful materials and then we've contrasted that with these beautiful displays and all this technology that helps make it very accessible to the driver.
04:56Everything about the car is just built around the driver experience.
05:09So, it's just all of these details together really combined to form this beautiful sense of luxury.
05:14The first thing a person should feel when they look at a Corvette is that sense of speed.
05:32Obviously, that's the first impression up to the exterior of the vehicle.
05:38When you slide in the seat for the first time, you kind of want the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up a little bit.
05:43You get that just sense of exhilaration even when you're standing still.
05:46Overall design goal for the new Corvette interior.
05:50Take what we had before and really enhance the experience, update the technology and increase the comfort.
05:55Some of my favorite features of the new interior are the way the displays are seamlessly integrated.
06:02Flanking the driver, each one is pointed directly at you.
06:06All the controls are right where you expect them to be.
06:08Everything's easy to reach.
06:10Your immediate sense is just you're in this like cocoon of luxury and technology.
06:15The first thing we wanted to do is make sure we had really good physical controls.
06:19Your push start button, your transmission controls, your drive mode controls are laid out really logically right in front of you.
06:26Everything's where you expect it to be.
06:28It really is just this awesome celebration of technology and then also craftsmanship coups you can see the attention to detail.
06:35You see real stitching, leather ensued, aluminum and stainless steel on the speaker grills.
06:41All of these things are working together in like a perfect harmony.
06:44When we design these cars, we really think about how people are going to be using them.
06:49Whether you're driving it every day or you're going on a road trip or you're taking it out to the track, we really laid out that environment so that you're comfortable.
06:57Everything about the car is just built around the driver experience and it forms this beautiful sculpture that kind of celebrates the technology.
07:04We know that this car is supposed to be fast.
07:13Supposed to be almost everywhere, but especially on the track.
07:16PTM stands for Performance Traction Management which is effectively GM's racetrack application for performance.
07:23It modifies all the vehicle subsystems to get the most performance out of the vehicle.
07:27Everything from the full HD video out the front of the car to vehicle speed, accelerator and brake inputs.
07:34Lateral longitudinal g-forces help us plot and show to the driver where they can optimize their lap time.
07:40PDR Performance Data Recorder is our built-in data logger that allows you to record and output the data from, say, track sessions, canyon carving, drag strip passes.
07:50All that data is now available in the car, at any time with the press of a button.
07:56With the latest version of PDR, we now have a new suite of driver tools that let them optimize their lap time.
08:03Additionally, there is now a driver speed tips function where PDR will automatically suggest to the driver their top opportunities to improve lap time.
08:11So basically, we've built a driver coach into the car, right?
08:14That's exactly right.
08:15It has always been driver-focused and driver-centric and we want to make sure the driver can get exactly where they want when they want it in a way that they would like to see it.
08:24When you look inside the new driver-focused cockpit, there's a screen to the left of the steering wheel, one in the middle, the driver information center, and then off to the side, you're going to have the ability to highly customize your gauges across the three screens.
08:37There's plenty of live data in the Corvette to just geek out on, get excited about.
08:42You've got a lot of options to configure these displays however you like.
08:45Switching between drive modes is really easy.
08:47It's utilizing a hard switch to toggle between the modes.
08:50As you go up and down to those hard switches, the auxiliary display is giving you 3D feedback,
08:56depicting a virtual Corvette going through a racetrack as the PTM levels might allow it to.
09:01That little 3D car will drift just a little bit more, be a little bit more tire smoke, there will be a little bit more rubber left on the track behind it.
09:10And this is just not for fun.
09:12This was intentional.
09:13I think the most important information that our drivers will really love is the usage of the PBR app and its improvements as well as the performance app and all the gauges that now we can show across the three screens.
09:24All of these gauges are all specially calibrated to the engine that's in your model of Corvette.
09:30When you introduce new technology like this, it's important that it solves problems in new innovative ways.
09:35We wanted to be able to bring technology going to make this car better.
09:39That's going to make the driving experience that much more enjoyable, that much more capable.
09:43We're making sure we do that with the Corvette.
09:45Let's get started.
