00:00We'll talk about the big one in Dallas, SMU, and Miami.
00:05Before SMU lost, Coach, this line had Miami favored by only 2.5 points.
00:11Now we saw this line open up 10.5 across multiple books.
00:15We see 11, 11.5s creeping in after the loss to Wake Forest.
00:21I still think SMU, from a defensive perspective, Coach, could be in this matchup.
00:26This is a team that's very opportunistic.
00:28They're very good in third-down defense, and their quarterback, Kevin Jennings, is very athletic.
00:33I think he can put some pressure on that Miami defense on the perimeter.
00:38But again, this could be a potential tough matchup for the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.
00:44Well, I tell you what, Miami's got to do a couple things.
00:45One, Miami cannot get off to a slow start.
00:48They were down 14-0 against Louisville.
00:51They're tied 7-7 against a much weaker Stanford team.
00:54They've got to come out of the chute playing hard because the great thing about SMU, they can hit the deep ball.
01:00You know, they've got four players who've caught touchdown passes of over 70 yards.
01:04So they've got explosive plays.
01:07So, one, you can't let yourself stay close.
01:09Miami needs to get on the stick and go after them early.
01:12Then don't give up those big explosive plays.
01:15And then the other thing is Miami finally got that running game going, rushed for 199.
01:19They need to keep that running game going strong to make sure they're not having to pass in bad situations.
01:25Now, when you look at just Miami defensively, right?
01:29We know Miami is very physical in run support.
01:33They can run sideline to sideline.
01:34From an offensive perspective, seeing how SMU struggled with a weaker defensive front than Wake Forest last week,
01:41what do you do if you're Rhett Lashley, or are you utilizing tempo offensively, more ball control?
01:47That's not SMU style, but we saw them basically get into a lower-scoring game last week against Wake Forest.
01:54I just don't know if they can afford to try to keep a lower-scoring.
01:57I think they've got to try to score points.
01:59Like I said, I mentioned they have great ability to hit the big play.
02:03They're not that good on third downs.
02:05I want to say they're about 35% on third downs.
02:07They don't do that well on third downs.
02:09And what they've got to do is have big plays.
02:11And to get big plays, you've got to run the ball and then go over top.
02:14And they have talent doing that.
02:16Kevin Jennings can make all those throws.
02:19And then I'd treat the game like I had to outscore Miami and not like you're going to keep them down low.
02:25Yeah, to your point, 36% conversion rate for a third-down offense.
02:31They're holding opposing offenses to right in the area of 35%.
02:34That's one of the better margins on the defensive side of the ball in all FBS.
02:40Offensively, SMU only averaging 122 rushing yards per game.
02:45Last year, this was a better rushing attack, more consistent.
02:48They're going to need a better effort on Saturday to pull off the upset against a very physical Miami front.
