00:09Razak, the High Court heard on Wednesday.
00:12Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Akram Garib, in his submissions, said Najib's defense
00:18had argued that individuals linked to 1MDB benefited from the financial scandal, particularly
00:24former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi, former General Counsel Jasmine Lu, and
00:34Najib's former Special Officer Datuk Amhari Effendi Nazaruddin, while Najib did not enrich
00:41himself.
00:42The prosecution contended that other prosecution witnesses had also testified against Najib,
00:48which could not be said about these individuals.
00:51He further submitted that, on the other hand, evidence showed Najib did not take action against
00:56fugitive businessman Joe Lowe, despite repeated warnings and multiple red flags.
01:02Ahmad Akram also argued that Najib's assertion of a Saudi Arabian donor was unsubstantiated
01:08and contradicted by evidence.
01:10He said the former premier did not produce any donor, authentic documentation or corroborating
01:17witnesses to back up his claim.
01:19Instead of a donation, the prosecution contended that Najib had abused his position as the prime
01:25minister and the finance minister to influence decisions and actions within 1MDB, which ultimately
01:32resulted in the billions of ringgit funneled into his personal accounts.
01:37The hearing continues before Justice Colin Lawrence Sequeira on Thursday.
