It's been revealed nine Queensland schools have now been caught up in the extraordinary year 12 exam bungle. 140 ancient history students were taught the wrong syllabus instead of Julius Caesar for an exam they had to sit today. The education minister has ordered an urgent investigation but wants to assure them they won't be disadvantaged.

00:00It's been a gobsmacking stuff up, but students still took the exam despite not being taught
00:08the subject matter.
00:09Well obviously it was quite stressful in the moment, it's year 12, we're in external exams.
00:14The bungle came to light just two days ago when it was revealed Brisbane State High
00:19Ancient History students were taught all about the Roman Emperor Augustus when the exam was
00:24actually on Julius Caesar.
00:26I was disappointed for the children.
00:28I'm actually quite concerned and also intrigued to know how could that have happened.
00:34A check of all schools later found nine had taught the wrong subject.
00:39Schools encouraged students to cram the Great Roman and sit the exam, but that wasn't the
00:44message from the Minister.
00:45We're not going to ask them to do an exam for which they haven't been prepared.
00:49It's clear he thinks it's unfair, but...
00:51I'm not sure about the actual process of what's happening with the examination, I'm happy to
00:56come back and report to you.
00:57He is lazy.
00:58He is clueless.
00:59And what is really appalling is that this is incredibly stressful for those students.
01:06This is not the end of the world.
01:07It should never have happened according to a former board member of the curriculum body,
01:12which notified all schools of the change two years in a row.
01:16It's enormously disappointing that this has happened in light of the various processes that are
01:22put in place to in fact avoid such a situation.
01:25The Minister has made it clear that the exam only accounts for 25% of the final result.
01:31The students have already been assessed for the 75% of their subject matter.
01:36They will all be given special consideration and graded favourably whether they sat the exam
01:41or not.
01:42Our teacher is kicking himself up over it, but honestly it's not on him.
01:45It's not on him.
01:46It's not on him.
01:47It's not on him.
