00:00Hurricane Melissa made landfall in western Jamaica as a Category 5 storm on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025.
00:07It is the strongest storm ever recorded in the Caribbean nation and reportedly the most powerful storm cell seen on Earth this year.
00:15The U.S. Hurricane Center advised that winds of up to 300 kilometers per hour were recorded in New Hope, south of Montego Bay.
00:23Locals have been warned to stay out of floodwaters after crocodiles were seen displaced by the rising water levels.
00:30Rising water levels in rivers, gullies and swamps could cause crocodiles to move into residential areas, the Southeast Regional Health Authority said in a statement.
00:40Residents living near these areas are therefore advised to remain vigilant and avoid floodwaters.
00:45The storm is expected to continue moving south toward Santiago de Cuba, with the U.S. Hurricane Center warning that
