00:00Now, back to Willard and Dibs.
00:03There's a lot of teams going into the Shanahan tree and the outside zone stuff.
00:08Shut up!
00:13On 95.7, the game.
00:16Yeah, that's our guy.
00:17That's our guy.
00:18This is how we handle Niner football games.
00:21We go to someone who very recently was on the Niners, and he's become one of us.
00:27He's our guy, John Feliciano, here on Willard and Dibs, 95.7, the game.
00:31It's funny.
00:32I was thinking about this, Dibs, because John's got the podcast, Not Our Fault podcast.
00:38How's the podcast going this week, John, first of all?
00:41And hi, how are you doing?
00:43Yeah, first of all, hi, how are you doing?
00:45Yeah, how are you doing?
00:47How are you doing?
00:47So here's what I was thinking about your podcast and the Not Our Fault podcast,
00:54and I think the idea is, hey, stop blaming the offensive line.
00:58It's not our fault.
00:59I think most 49er fans this week would be like, yes, it is, John.
01:03Yes, it is.
01:04Yes, it is the offensive line's fault.
01:06What's your reaction to that?
01:11Yeah.
01:12I think a lot of things went wrong this week.
01:17I think Houston did a great job of keeping our defense on the field for a very long time,
01:24and that is a – and then when that happens and the offense doesn't go out there
01:30and have a good drive, it puts a lot of stress on the defense.
01:34And in that first half, I mean, the defense, I mean, played a lot, a lot, a lot of ball.
01:40And that's not a – that's not a way to win games.
01:45Yeah, and you see – I mean, Colton McKivitts, I thought, had a real tough time,
01:48but he's going up against Will Anderson.
01:50How much of a pass do you give a guy when you're going up against somebody who is fresher
01:55and just has their ears pinned back all game?
01:59Yeah, and then you add that it's a away game, and, you know, Houston gets pretty loud,
02:06especially in the Dome.
02:06And, like you said, Colton kind of struggled this week.
02:11He's been playing very well all year.
02:14And, like you said, I think Will is a very, very talented rusher.
02:19John Feliciano with us here on the River Islands guest line.
02:22Every Tuesday, we hang out with John after 49er games.
02:27Hey, John, they opened up the practice window for Ben Bartsch.
02:31Like, the practice week hasn't started yet,
02:33so I don't know if he's ticketed to play this week or not.
02:37But when he comes back, how do you think that will change things?
02:42I think it will be huge.
02:43I think Ben is going to – his best ball is in front of him.
02:47He's a very capable guy,
02:49and it's always a little weird when the practice window opens.
02:53It just really depends on where he's at physically.
02:58So he could play this week.
03:00It all depends on how that ankle's feeling.
03:02Hopefully they get some reinforcements.
03:04And maybe you can help me with this, John,
03:06because I'm watching Hennessy play,
03:09and it seemed like Shanahan was asking him to do too much.
03:12There's multiple plays where he snaps it,
03:14and he flies out to the right,
03:15and I guess the whole line is shifting left.
03:17And now you've got Hennessy on the move trying to get Will Anderson.
03:21Isn't it better when you have backups to just kind of use the KISS method?
03:25Keep it simple, stupid?
03:26David?
03:28No.
03:29In Kyle's system, your ass better be ready to play.
03:34On that one play I know you were talking about,
03:37Matt just needs to – it's a tricky block.
03:42You really need to run at Will and not give him space.
03:47He gave him some space,
03:49and you don't want that guy out in space against you.
03:52Hey, John, off chance here,
03:56because I know the Niners played the Patriots last year.
04:00Do you know Keon White?
04:02Did you go up against Keon White of the Patriots?
04:05No, I don't know much about him.
04:07I saw we got him, so hopefully Kassar can get his button in order,
04:13and he's a really good player for us.
04:15Yeah, because, I mean, actually, if we were going to do,
04:18hey, it's not our fault, it would be the other line that I'm looking at too,
04:23but, I mean, they're just so crushed by injuries on the defensive line.
04:27I'd love your take on that side of the ball too,
04:30because you know the Texans' O-line's not very good,
04:32but they look good on Sunday.
04:33Yeah, like you said, we're kind of beat up.
04:40I think KD's been playing very well.
04:44So, I mean, I think KD is going to shine this next few weeks,
04:49and he's going to have to take that next step and be that guy for us.
04:54When you look at the tape,
04:55did the Niners make it just too easy for Houston to just keep them at bay?
05:00I mean, Mark said it, not a great offensive line,
05:02but they looked like five all pros the way they handled the Niners' D-line.
05:07Yeah, I think there was just some miscommunication on the defense
05:12where there's times, you know, we had them in third and long.
05:17One of the first ones, they threw a ball to Braxton Berrios,
05:21and they got them a big first down.
05:24If they were able to stop them on third down,
05:26I think it would have been a different game.
05:29I would probably be talking differently right now.
05:33All right, John, who on the team did you text, and what did they say?
05:40The only person I talked to recently was Zekiel.
05:46And I was like, hey, man, I saw you got in a little bit.
05:49I think he had probably like 18, 16, 18 plays or something like that.
05:51He played well.
05:52So they rotated him and Connor a little bit.
05:57Can any of these guys play center,
05:58or is it going to be Hennessy's job until Brendel comes back?
06:03I think it's Hennessy's job.
06:06You know, I think he's going to continue to play better.
06:09I think he played good against the Falcons.
06:14This last week was, you know, a little different story.
06:17But he's an older guy.
06:20I think he'll be all right.
06:20We're hanging out with John Feliciano here on Willard and Dibbs 95.7,
06:24the game, do it every Tuesday.
06:26So, John, for a few weeks, when the Niners weren't running the ball,
06:30you're like, Kittle, Kittle, Kittle, Kittle.
06:33And then Kittle comes back, and the Niners run the hell out of the ball,
06:36and CMC gets player of the week.
06:39Why did that not continue this week?
06:41I mean, there was some runs early.
06:46One of the first runs could have been a touchdown or at least a six-yard game
06:52or something like that.
06:54I think it was just the way the game was playing out.
06:57I mean, I think the Texans have a very good defense, defensive line as well.
07:02I don't know what the game plan was, but I don't think running was –
07:10we didn't block well enough, and, you know, the situation in the game, it wasn't good.
07:16Looking at the Giants, they have a couple of great guys on the edge
07:19with Thibodeau and Brian Burns.
07:20How do you think that matches up with the Niners, especially with their tackles?
07:26Yeah, we talked about this a little bit on the pod today.
07:28I think the Giants have probably the best D-line in the league.
07:34When you have Dex, who is, I think, the most dominant player in the National Football League,
07:40and then Burns is just a monster on the edge.
07:44They have that rookie, Adu Carter, and Kayvon as well.
07:49So even their next guy, DJ Davidson, who comes in for Dex,
07:55you would love for him to be, you know, a little – a suckier player.
08:02So you get a break when Dex gets out, but he's very good as well.
08:08So the O-line has their work cut out this week, and it's going to be a great test.
08:13I'd like to hear more about Dex.
08:15Dex is the most dominant player in the entire NFL, John?
08:19Hands down.
08:20How so?
08:21That dude, he's the best player I've ever played against.
08:26Strong as hell, quick for his size, and just a dog.
08:31He wants to kill you every play.
08:33I mean, you've seen him throw Quentin Nelson into a quarterback for a sack.
08:38I mean, he is constantly getting double-teamed, and he's still up there in sacks and TFLs.
08:46Well, if this defense is so fancy-schmancy, why have they given up the most yards per attempt on the ground, John?
08:53That doesn't make sense.
08:54I think their back end is not where it needs to be.
09:00You can tell from that long run – the long touchdown run Saquon had when he was a simple power – or simple doctor.
09:08And the safety filled terribly, and all of Saquon goes for the races.
09:15You look at the Giants overall, I mean, when they finally got rid of Russ, they became a different team.
09:24They're injury-ridden as well, which I think if they would have had their guys, they probably would have been a little bit better,
09:37probably winning two or three more games, definitely two, probably three or four more games.
09:42They're a good team, but they just – they got injuries,
09:46and I don't think they have the guys, backup-wise, to compete long-term in this season.
09:55John, what was behind that statement about Russell Wilson?
09:58They finally got rid of Russ.
10:00I'm just not a fan.
10:02I would not let Russ cook anything.
10:04Oh, my.
10:07Has it always been that way, or just in the recent years?
10:10Uh, I've had some friends that played with him.
10:17Yeah.
10:18John, come on, talk to us about this, because the fans are all confused,
10:23because there's always this thing where there's, like, this under-the-cover deal of, like,
10:27Russ is not a good teammate, or he's weird, and then somebody who's played with him will come to his defense,
10:32and it goes back and forth.
10:34What's the inner NFL buzz on that guy?
10:37Uh, he lost me when he was hurt, and he went out there and pre-game
10:42and did a whole two-minute thing just so the cameras can take pictures of it.
10:48That's when Russ lost – I mean, he don't give a crap about me,
10:53but that's when he lost a lot of credit amongst a lot of people.
10:56He's working his way through injury.
10:58John, what's wrong with that?
10:59Guy trying to fight through.
11:01Yeah, you can do that Monday through Saturday.
11:05Sunday is for the people that are playing.
11:07John, did you see when they made the move to Jackson Dart, like, you'd wait a beat,
11:13and about an hour later, all the NFL reporters went to social media
11:17and went through this whole weird kind of, like, so, even though he's been demoted,
11:24Russell Wilson has been a wonderful teammate, and he continues this,
11:28and it's like, man, the agent called or something like that.
11:32Like, Russ, it was something about the way that needed to be presented to the public,
11:36and I think that's along the lines of what you're talking about.
11:40Yeah, he's a meteor whore.
11:42He wants to make sure everything – that's fine, right?
11:45Oh, yeah.
11:46Absolutely.
11:47You've been dancing the dance today.
11:48You're in your bag today, John.
11:50We've gone way past that.
11:52Yeah, I mean, he wants the right things to be out about him.
11:59As soon as I saw Dart get a couple, you know, RPOs against Dallas, I think it was,
12:07knowing Dave's, I knew what that meant.
12:09I knew what that was.
12:11Hey, John, before you go, if Dex is the best player you've ever played against,
12:16who else is on the list?
12:21Dex, Chris Jones, Aaron.
12:30Oh, what's his name?
12:32Green Bay Packers, 76.
12:35Mike, Mike – oh, my God, I'm spacing on his name.
12:40Oh, shoot, but he was really good.
12:43But he was my – my first start was against the Green Bay Packers.
12:48Mike Daniels.
12:49Mike Daniels.
12:49Yeah, Mike Daniels and Julius Peppers.
12:54And, man, Mike was a hog.
12:58Begs the question, who's the worst player you've ever played against?
13:04Yeah, John, who is he?
13:05Yeah, come on, Mongo?
13:10In recent years.
13:13Yeah.
13:15I don't know, man.
13:15I might come back.
13:17I don't want a bulletin board.
13:1855 from Arizona.
13:20Oh, there you go.
13:21All right.
13:21Hang on.
13:22Arizona Cardinals roster.
13:24Go ahead and Google that one real quick.
13:26Yeah, Arizona Cardinals.
13:29I played very well against the Cardinals.
13:31I'm seeing Dante Stills.
13:33When we played there.
13:34Yeah, there we go.
13:34West Virginia.
13:35That's Colton's guy.
13:37Ah, I got you.
13:38Got you.
13:39Took it to a Mountaineer.
13:41What's his name?
13:42Dante Stills.
13:43Dante Stills.
13:45Sixth rounder out of West Virginia.
13:47He's probably not the worst, but he's the first person that popped in my head.
13:49I like it.
13:50Yeah, no walking it back, John.
13:55Come on.
13:55I got to be like Russ.
13:57I'll have my agent call you guys.
13:59Exactly.
14:00Exactly.
14:01All right, John.
14:02Great stuff.
14:03It was totally your guys' fault this week, but maybe not next week.
14:08Let's talk again on Tuesday, okay?
14:11We'll do, guys.
14:12All right, man.
14:13There it is.
14:13John Feliciano.
