World Series Game 4 is a MUST-WIN for the Blue Jays after the heartbreaking 18-inning loss. Former Sportsnet 960 host Peter Klein breaks down what Toronto needs tonight: Shane Bieber must be an ACE, Vlad Jr. needs his World Series moment, and the big guys have to step up.

⚾ GAME 4: MUST-WIN FOR TORONTO
After 18 innings mere hours ago, both teams are back at it. Key #1: Who's awake? Key #2: Can the Blue Jays avoid going down 3-1?
Peter's take: "Around the 12th or 13th inning, Game 3 BECAME a must-win and they didn't get it. Tonight is absolutely a must-win."

🎯 WHAT THE BLUE JAYS NEED:
Shane Bieber MUST Be an ACE:
Needs to be Game 3 ALCS Bieber, not Game 7 ALCS Bieber. Dust off that Cy Young and BE that guy. He'll be required to pitch deep with everyone exhausted from last night's marathon. Cannot have first-inning struggles against this lineup. Must set the tone from pitch one.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. Needs His World Series Moment:
He had it in the ALCS (that sunset homer at T-Mobile Park). He had it in the ALDS (bat flips, jomboy clips). Defensively he's been great (that throw to third last night!), but offensively? He needs to TAKE OVER this game. Needs his Shohei game - be the best player on the field tonight.

Quick Start is CRITICAL:
Can't dig an early hole. Toronto is the comeback kids all season, but they need momentum early after that gut-punch loss.

πŸ’” IT FEELS OVER, BUT...
Peter admits it feels over this morning. Winning 3 of 4 against THIS Dodgers team feels daunting. BUT this team felt dead down 2-0 going to Seattle in the ALCS and came back!

The Dodgers are a different animal, but Toronto has been comeback kids ALL YEAR. This has to be their biggest one yet.

πŸ“Š IF BLUE JAYS WIN TONIGHT:
Still a bad matchup for Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow. Toronto proved in Game 3 they can wear these guys down. The scary part? Yamamoto still lurking for Game 6.
But you'd have Bieber, Gausman, and Yusei Kikuchi with a chance to win the World Series. That's a decent spot if you can get there.

LINEUP QUESTIONS:
If Springer can't go, who leads off? Peter's pick: Nathan Lukes if he can focus on getting on base. Kirk needs to hit behind Vlad to prevent walks all night.

00:00Coming off of a marathon, 18-inning, record-breaking classic, the Dodgers and Blue Jays play again
00:06mere hours after one of the craziest baseball games you will see. So, key number one, who's
00:14awake. Key number two, let's talk about it in our game four preview.
00:30Game four goes tonight. It feels like the series has already been four games because it has.
00:34Just game two was two of them. Luckily for the Blue Jays, though, it doesn't count as two wins
00:39and they are back at it tonight. Toxic in the chat asked earlier, I asked if yesterday if the
00:48game was a must-win. I think that turned into a must-win. That is fair. I do think that around
00:53the 12th or 13th inning, that became a must-win game for the Blue Jays and they didn't and we
00:58talked about all the reasons why they didn't. I think it goes without saying, tonight is a must-win
01:04for Toronto. Which is tough because you're going against Shohei Otani. And I do think the way the
01:10playoffs have played out, I do think that the Blue Jays' platoon setup is better against lefties than
01:16it is against righties. Or sorry, better against righties than it is against lefties, I should say.
01:22It's better when Lucas is in the lineup. So, it's better against the righties than it is against
01:25the lefties. But I don't think this is a game where, oh, it's an X-factor this and an X-factor
01:30that. And it could play out that way. For the Blue Jays, this needs to be a game where the big
01:35guys step up. Shane Bieber needs to be more Game 3 Shane Bieber than Game 7 Shane Bieber from the
01:41American League Championship Series. He needs to go out and dust off that Cy Young and be that guy
01:47again. He's going to be required to pitch deep into this ballgame. If he's given up 10 runs,
01:55he's going to be required to pitch deep into this ballgame based on the usage of everybody
01:59last night for Toronto. I think he has to get off to a good start. That has been an issue for him
02:08this season. This is not an easy team to get off to a good start against. But he needs to be that guy
02:13that can come out and just mow them down quickly, set that tone. It cannot be, guys, I know I have my
02:20good stuff. I know we're down to nothing. But I know I have my good stuff. Trust me. It has to be
02:24right from the word go. We see he has his good stuff. And the Blue Jays are able to roll from there.
02:29Also, the other one, this feels kind of obvious, Vlad needs to have his moment in this World Series.
02:34He had it in the American League Championship Series with the home run, with the sun setting
02:39on T-Mobile Park and that just absolutely movie-esque shot that he had. He had it several times over in
02:48the divisional round against the New York Yankees with the bat tosses and Yankees lose and stuff like
02:54that. He has had those. He hasn't had a lot in this World Series offensively. Defensively,
03:00obviously, last night with the great throw to third base. And I guess he does have the run home
03:05and hammering down on home plate and getting the team fired up after that. But he needs to take
03:12control of this baseball game offensively. This needs to be a big Vlad Guerrero Jr. game. We don't know
03:18what is happening around him in the lineup at the moment that I am recording this.
03:24But he needs to have a big day today for Toronto to get into this series. So I think you need
03:32your best guy to be your best guy. And I don't want to say he needs to earn his $500 million
03:37contract because A, how could you? It's a lot of money. But B, if you can, he has already. He has
03:43been spectacular in this postseason and nothing that happens in this World Series is going to change
03:46it. But he needs to have his World Series moment now. Shohei, I'm not saying get on base nine times
03:52like Shohei did, but he needs to have his Shohei game. He needs to be the one who's the best player
03:57in this game. And we're all talking about him going in to game number four. Admittedly, I know I said
04:04yesterday that it doesn't feel, yesterday didn't feel like a must win right up until it did. But it does
04:10feel over this morning. Like walking around, it's like, man, like beating this team now three out
04:16of four feels daunting. And it feels really down. But this team felt really down after losing two in
04:25a row in Toronto and going into Seattle. I will say the Dodgers are a different animal, but the Blue
04:29Jays have been those comeback kids all season long. This is going to have to be their biggest one.
04:34And I think getting off to a quick start tonight is going to be massive. So I, I don't know. I think
04:45you need to get off to that quick, quick start here today. I'm just trying to look real quick.
04:52Do we have lineups just yet? I don't think we do. Toxic is asking, who do you lead off with
05:00if, um, if Springer can't go? And I think that's an excellent question. And I, I don't really know
05:10the answer to that one. Um, I think Lucas is a pretty good bet. If you can get him back into that
05:15focus of just get an on base, man, please. Could you? That would be great. There is the smallest part
05:22of me that thinks Kirk, not like obviously not a traditional leadoff hitter, but someone you trust
05:27someone getting on base and all of that. But if we're worried that Bo's not going to be in the
05:31lineup, I think you have to hit Kirsch or, um, Kirk, sorry, behind Vlad so that they can't just walk
05:36him all night long. Um, Bo, I think would be, I've always thought Bo would be a good leadoff hitter
05:45because of his eye at the plate, um, and just his ability to, to get on base. But again, having him
05:52be able to stretch the lineup out would really help this team that much more. So I think that he is,
05:58probably not the option. So it probably comes down to like Lucas, maybe Ernie Clement. Um,
06:03I mean, none of them had great games last night. So none of these feel like awesome suggestions today,
06:08but Lucas would probably be me, be the one that I would suggest at this particular moment in time,
06:15um, to, to be the leadoff guy for Toronto. But yeah, like it, it does, it feels done,
06:21but Toronto has come back from it before. And I will say if the Blue Jays can get this one,
06:26I still think they're a bad matchup for Snell. And I think they proved yesterday that they are a bad
06:33matchup for Glass now as well. The Yamamoto part of it is really, really scary, which is why like
06:39three, one, whatever, like that, that really feels done because Yamamoto, you know, he is lurking one
06:46more time in this series, but because of how Toronto did against Snell and against Glass now,
06:52now Dodgers fans would say, there's no way they're going to have that bad of an outing again,
06:55but the Jays did this to Kirby in the champion. Yeah. In the championship series,
06:59they, they can really wear those types of guys down. And when the concern is, well, if he's on,
07:06he's really on, this is a really hard Blue Jays team to be on against when you do have some of
07:10those command issues and everything like that. So I still think they stack up really well in two
07:16of the three matchups that would be remaining after game four. You have to give yourself some
07:21wiggle room knowing that Yamamoto is still lurking and just not being able to assume that he's going
07:26to have a bit of a banana peel game, but you still have, yeah, you have Bieber, Gosman, you savage
07:30with a chance to win the world series. That's, that's how you're set up. It feels like a decent spot,
07:37but you have to, have to, have to get this one tonight if you are the Toronto Blue Jays. So that's
07:42the world series talk for this one today. If I missed anything or you disagree with me, if you're
07:48watching live, throw it in the chat. If you're watching after the fact, let me know down in the
07:51comments below, is this a must win? It does. I think it's obviously a must win for the Blue Jays.
