The San Diego Padres have kept their postseason hopes alive with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS at Petco Park.
Facing elimination after falling behind 2-0 in the series, San Diego delivered when it mattered most. Nick Pivetta provided a strong start, while Jackson Merrill made a spectacular defensive play early in the game to deny Milwaukee a potential extra-base hit.
The Padres built a 2-0 advantage before the Brewers fought back, with William Contreras launching a huge solo homer and Jackson Chourio tying the game with a sacrifice fly.
Jake Cronenworth quickly restored San Diego’s lead with a solo home run in the fifth inning. An additional insurance run in the sixth proved valuable when Milwaukee later narrowed the gap to 4-3.
With the game hanging in the balance, Michael King stepped up from the bullpen and delivered two important innings, keeping the tying run stranded in the ninth.
The victory prevents a sweep and cuts Milwaukee’s series lead to 2-1. Game 4 at Petco Park now carries enormous postseason stakes.
