00:04Former President Barack Obama's relationship with former First Lady Michelle Obama
00:08is back in the spotlight after he opened up about their marriage issues in a new interview.
00:13During a conversation with historian David Olasoga at the O2 Arena in London,
00:18Barack spoke about the dark times he and the ex-Flotus endured following their time in the White House.
00:23Former President Barack Obama admitted he had to dig myself out of a hole with Michelle.
00:28After they left the White House in 2017 following his two terms in office.
00:33I was digging myself out of the hole I found myself in with Michelle, Barack admitted during the event,
00:38quipping, now I'm at about level ground.
00:42However, the 61-year-old has also admitted to going through tough times with the ex-Flotus confessing,
00:47people think I'm being catty for saying this.
00:49It's like there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband.
00:52Marriage isn't 50-50 ever.
00:54There are times I'm 70, he's 30.
00:56There are times he's 60, 40.
00:59While both Barack and Michelle have done their best to mitigate rumors,
01:03speculation of trouble in their union is still rampant,
01:06with one insider claiming the pair are quietly attempting to divide their $70 million empire.
01:11That source claimed they'd already been living separate lives on opposite coasts for some time.
01:16But that was no longer an option after Michelle refused to run for president,
01:20and Barack was forced to back Kamala Harris.
01:22Michelle posted a message too, writing,
01:25We've been on quite the journey over the last 33 years.
01:29And yet, I love you even more today than the day we said,
01:32I do.
01:33Happy anniversary.
01:34I'm so lucky to go through life with you.
