00:00Archaeologists uncover 1,200-year-old bread bearing the image of Jesus Christ.
00:06A 1,200-year-old loaf of burned bread just made global headlines,
00:10and it's not because of what's inside, but what's on it.
00:13This ancient loaf, found in Turkey, bears a faint image of Jesus Christ and an inscription,
00:19with gratitude to the blessed Jesus.
00:21What started as a typical excavation has turned into a global curiosity,
00:25and possibly one of the most unexpected windows into early Christian life ever discovered.
00:31Announced quietly by the Karaman governorship on Facebook,
00:34the loaf is one of five from Toprak Tepe,
00:36with charred surfaces showing symbols and lettering deliberately placed before baking.
00:41And here's where it gets even more fascinating.
00:44Unlike the standard image of Christ in Orthodox iconography,
00:47this bread depicts him as a farmer or soher.
00:51Officials suggest this symbolism reflects the era's religious mindset,
00:54portraying Jesus as linked to holiness and the everyday struggle of survival.
01:00It's also why some specialists now believe this may have been a form of communion bread,
01:04Eucharist used in early rituals,
01:06likely by believers who saw Christ as both Savior and Provider.
01:11Bearing a Maltese cross,
01:12the loaves demonstrate ancient Christian practices
01:15with remarkable preservation through carbonization.
01:18And this isn't an isolated discovery.
01:21Archaeologists in the Anatolia-Caucasus region unearthed remarkable Christian artifacts.
01:27A 4th century Armenian church marks early Christian statehood,
01:31while Olympus revealed a church with a message,
01:34only those on the righteous path may enter here.
01:37Maybe we're asked to pay attention.
