00:00Prehistoric Dam Unearthed Near Biblical Pool Linked to Jesus' Miracle
00:05Archaeologists in Jerusalem have uncovered a prehistoric dam, almost 2,800 years old,
00:10near the Pool of Siloam. People know this place from the Bible, where Jesus supposedly
00:16healed a blind man. What makes this exciting is not just the age, but the fact it is the
00:21biggest and oldest dam found in Jerusalem. The discovery happened in the city of David,
00:26which is the heart of Old Jerusalem. Researchers dated the structure to around 805 to 795 BC,
00:33maybe during the reign of King Joash or Amaziah. The dam is impressive, about 39 feet high,
00:40almost 70 feet long, and more than 25 feet wide. The dam gathered water from the Gihon Spring
00:47while also holding back floods, acting like an early climate defense system. It shows how organized the
00:53community must have been, because building it required significant planning and cooperation.
00:58The biblical connection gives special meaning to the discovery. The dam was built right next
01:03to the Pool of Siloam, mentioned in the Gospel of John. Though it predates Jesus by centuries,
01:09visitors can experience layers of history in one place. Experts call it one of the most impressive
01:14finds from the first temple period. For pilgrims, the site creates a powerful connection between ancient
01:21engineering and sacred history. This dam stands as evidence of human resourcefulness and as a symbol
01:26where history, faith, and survival intersect across nearly three millennia.
