00:00Jimmy Kimmel may have to pay big after Charlie Kirk feud.
00:04Jimmy Kimmel may be off the air for the foreseeable future,
00:07but there's one way he will be allowed back on the small screen.
00:10He will have to open up his wallet, RadarOnline.com can reveal.
00:14Sinclair, the broadcasting company that makes up the nation's largest ABC affiliate group,
00:19has given the comedian a long list of demands if he wants to save his show,
00:23Jimmy Kimmel Live, after it was pulled from TV following his comments about Charlie Kirk.
00:27In a press release on Wednesday, September 17th,
00:31after expressing how inappropriate and deeply insensitive Kimmel's comments were,
00:35Sinclair revealed their demands.
00:37The 57-year-old will first have to have formal discussions with ABC
00:41regarding the network's commitment to professionalism and accountability.
00:45The TV host will then have to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family
00:49and make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk family and Turning Point USA.
00:53Kirk founded the non-profit, which advocates for conservative politics on high school,
00:59college, and university campuses, in 2012.
01:02Sinclair stated that Jimmy Kimmel Live won't air until necessary measures are taken
01:06to maintain national broadcast standards.
01:09Social media users reacted strongly, likening the demands to mafia tactics
01:13and drawing comparisons to North Korea's media control.
01:17Some users felt Kimmel was being held hostage.
01:19This controversy unfolded on September 15th,
01:22when Kimmel remarked that the MAGA gang was using a death to score political points.
01:27During his monologue, Kimmel discussed Kirk's alleged killer, Tyler Robinson,
01:31and criticized Republicans' response.
01:34He said,
01:34We hit some new lows with the MAGA gang trying to depict this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk
01:39as anything other than one of them.
01:41Although seemingly harmless, FCC chairman Brendan Carr threatened action against Kimmel
01:46for misleading the public.
01:48Carr later reiterated his disapproval.
01:51He complained at the time,
01:52When we see stuff like this, look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way.
01:56Kimmel faced public outcry and regulatory pressure.
01:59Calls for Kimmel to be fired.
02:01You know, the FCC is going to have remedies.
02:04Following his threats, Kimmel was pulled from the air, leading to plenty of backlash.
02:09After years of complaining about cancel culture,
02:11the current administration now threatens regulatory action against media companies to silence dissent,
02:16former President Barack Obama stated.
02:19ABC stations in 30 U.S. markets, including Washington, D.C.,
02:23will air a special in remembrance of Kirk in Kimmel's time slot on September 19th,
