00:08Diane Keaton's health woes are being exposed after her sad death at age 79.
00:13In a bombshell, new report from NewsNation,
00:15multiple sources revealed that the Oscar-winning actress had been battling dementia for years
00:20before she lost her life on Saturday, October 11.
00:24Keaton, whose cause of death was listed as bacterial pneumonia,
00:27had not been seen publicly since April.
00:30According to NewsNation senior story producer Paula Froelich,
00:34several sources close to the actress said her declining health had been a private struggle.
00:38She was battling it for years, one insider claimed of Keaton's alleged dementia diagnosis.
00:44Another on-set insider from Keaton's 2023 movie Maybe I Do,
00:49which was filmed in 2022,
00:51admitted the actress required an earpiece during production to be fed her lines.
00:55It was so sad, the source said.

01:35Diane Keaton revealed in her 2011 memoir,
01:38then again, that her mother, Dorothy Diane,
01:41battled Alzheimer's disease,
01:43gradually losing her language and independence before passing in 2008.
01:47A 1993 journal entry from Diane read,
01:51This is the day I heard I have the beginning of Alzheimer's disease.
01:54Scary.
01:55Keaton reflected on the emotional toll as her mother stopped recognizing her.
01:59Though Keaton reportedly kept her own dementia diagnosis private,
02:03she had previously spoken about struggles with bulimia and cancer.
02:06She survived by her two adopted children,
02:09Dexter, born 1995, and Duke, born 2000.
