China signed an expanded version of a free trade agreement Tuesday (Oct 28) with Asean, with Chinese Premier Li Qiang pitching expanded economic ties with his country as an alternative to the protectionist policies of US President Donald Trump.

00:08And on behalf of ASEAN, I am delighted to welcome Premier Li Chiang, Premier of the Republic of China.
00:18Premier Li, you were with us earlier this year for the ASEAN-GCC China Summit.
00:25And we are honoured to have you again today. It is a reflection of China's firm and unyielding commitment to deepening ties with ASEAN.
00:36And if people are curious, the day before we were with President Donald Trump of the United States of America, and today we are back with China.
00:48That reflects ASEAN's centrality, and I commend and congratulate my colleagues ASEAN for the wisdom to maintain centrality and maintain friend relations with all our countries.
