00:00If Le Cornu does not deliver his message, what happens?
00:06Yes, Francine, I do feel like it's Grand Hogue Day as well,
00:10living the same day over and over again.
00:12And again, today it is a moment of truth for Sébastien Le Cornu,
00:17who was supposed to deliver his general policy speech a week ago,
00:21but then he resigned after the rebellion from the Republicans
00:25before being reappointed on Friday.
00:28So today he's going to deliver his general policy speech 2 p.m. U.K. time.
00:33And what the socialists are calling for is a suspension of the pension reform.
00:39This 2023 reform that brought the retirement age in France from 62 to 64 years old
00:46after months of strikes and protests in the streets,
00:50this is really the flagship reform of President Macron in his second term.
00:56But if President Macron has signaled some openness on Friday
01:03after a meeting of all the political parties to delay this reform,
01:08the socialists want more.
01:10They want a pure suspension.
01:12They want to go back to 62 years old for the retirement in France.
01:16So Sébastien Le Cornu will have to say something about this in his general policy speech
01:21if he wants to avoid another vote of no confidence
01:25because he needs the support of at least two-thirds of the 69 socialist MPs in Parliament
01:33if he doesn't want to see his government fall again tomorrow
01:39because the far-right of Marine Le Pen and the far-left
01:43have both proposed two motions of no confidence
01:46against this Le Cornu government.
