00:00Hello everyone, I'm Sapideh Shokbore, Director of Coalitions and Community Innovation at
00:05Bloomberg Media and today we are spotlighting how networks are powering the next generation
00:11of digital ecosystems, the invisible engine behind transformation.
00:16Now before we dive in, a quick introduction to our speakers.
00:20Verizon Business is a leading global communication provider delivering secure connectivity to
00:25clients in over 150 countries.
00:28And Thames Freeport, the UK's designated free trade zone on the Thames estuary, is driving
00:34economic growth and new job through next generation logistics and sustainable innovation.
00:40I'm joined by Sanjeev Ghossain, Group Vice President and Head of EMEA at Verizon Business, and Swat
00:45Rimmer, Interim Chief Executive at Thames Freeport.
00:50Welcome to you both.
00:52Sanjeev, we've already heard about how digital innovation and tech-first strategies are reshaping
00:57enterprises.
00:59Tell us about how Verizon Business plays a part in this ecosystem.
01:02Sure, thank you very much.
01:03I mean, there's been some really interesting things on stage so far today.
01:07I think we've all realized that connectivity is fundamental to the way we live, work and
01:13play today.
01:14And at Verizon Business, what we're trying to do is work with enterprises like Thames Freeport
01:19and others to provide that foundation for digital transformation that they so rely on.
01:25And I think whether you're in retail or manufacturing or ports and logistics, as in here, we really
01:31provide that secure foundation for companies to thrive.
01:34Excellent.
01:35So connectivity, not as plumbing, but as a platform for transformation.
01:39Absolutely.
01:40And Stuart, bring us to site.
01:42How is Thames Freeport transferring operations today?
01:45Sure.
01:46So we're working across three sites with Verizon colleagues at the moment, deploying at London
01:50Gateway, DP World, Fourth Port, and at the Ford Motor Company in Dagnum.
01:55And we're driving out use cases really in areas such as like optimization, really sort
02:01of enabling some of that automation and speeding up some automation, but actually fundamentally
02:05AI adoption.
02:06I know lots have been talked about that, but forming those use cases really early is critical
02:10to that success.
02:12Amazing.
02:12Well, that's logistics becoming intelligent.
02:15Sanjeev, take us through the partnership.
02:17How is Verizon supporting Thames Freeport's transformation?
02:20Well, we're delighted to be selected by Thames Freeport to provide that secure,
02:24low latency connectivity across a site.
02:28And the site like that's quite unique.
02:29It's over 1,500 acres across the Thames estuary.
02:33It requires connectivity in an outdoor and indoor environment.
02:36So we're providing that foundation using private 5G, a number of different private 5G radios
02:42and sites across that to make sure they have a foundation to work efficiently and effectively
02:47and also so they can advance into other areas like AI and other aspects of it.
02:53Amazing.
02:53Sanjeev, you mentioned AI.
02:55Where does network connectivity come into the equation as it comes to AI?
02:59Well, as we're all talking about AI and we're all probably using it on our phones every day
03:03and in our homes and offices, it requires a significant amount of bandwidth.
03:09It also requires significant low latency as well to really prove that, especially in real-time applications.
03:15And so what we're trying to do is provide that connectivity to provide that,
03:18to enable AI because it often gets overlooked.
03:21The network is critical to that foundation for a really useful and an excellent user experience.
03:27Amazing.
03:28And finally, within a minute on the clock, Stuart, next question for you.
03:33Can you share with us any innovative AI projects TEMS report has underway?
03:37We've got loads of exciting innovation projects around AI adoption, not only deployment of kind of infrastructure,
03:44which we'll do some announcements shortly around, but actually around the innovation programs in health,
03:49in transforming public services, continuing our work around ports and logistics
03:53to make sure that really we're making all those use cases come to life over the next sort of 12 months.
03:59So lots of exciting stuff for us.
04:01Amazing.
04:02And can't wait to dive into those.
04:03Well, Sanjeev, Stuart, thank you so much for your time.
04:06And to see that story in motion, let's roll out film from Verizon Business and TEMS Freeport.
04:15In this series, I want to find out which technologies will actually deliver the most competitive advantage.
04:20Let's go inside the Office of Innovation.
04:24What sort of impact is 5G going to have on what you're able to do here?
04:28It propels us into the next generation of efficiency and safety and security.
04:35It means that you can actually be more competitive because now you're able to increase the volume of trade
04:39that comes in and out of a port such as this.
