US-Mali visa row: US removes Mali from list requiring visa bonds

The two countries required each other's citizens to post up to 10,000 dollars in bonds if they are applying for a tourist or business visa. The US has now removed Mali from the list of countries required to post visa bonds to obtain a US visa.

00:00The visa row between Mali and the United States might be coming to an end.
00:07Earlier this month, the U.S. government required Mali citizens to post visa bonds of up to $10,000
00:14if they want to obtain business or tourist visas to the U.S.
00:20Mali then retaliated with the same measures for U.S. citizens coming to its territory.
00:24The U.S. measure was supposed to take effect on October 23rd,
00:30but when the list of countries required to post visa bonds was published, Mali was not among them.
00:36Mali has not yet responded to the U.S. initiative,
00:39and for now its visa bond requirement for American citizens remains intact.
00:44The U.S. continues to require visa bonds from citizens of several other African countries,
00:49including Mauritania, Malawi, The Gambia, Zambia and Tanzania.
