On top of a slew of charges it already intends to levy on U.S. visitors, the State Department plans to roll out a year-long visa bond pilot program which will require certain business and tourist visa applicants to post bonds of up to $15,000 as a condition of the visa issuance.

00:11This is to implement a visa bond pilot program under the Immigration and Nationality Act,
00:19consistent with Executive Order 14159, beginning August 20th,
00:24Nationals of Malawi and Zambia applying for B-1, B-2 business and tourist visas
00:32will be required to post a bond of up to $15,000.
00:37This targeted common-sense measure reinforces the administration's commitment to U.S. immigration law
00:43while deterring visa overstays.
