00:00The Smithsonian Museums and the National Zoo have gone dark,
00:06shutting their doors as the government shutdown stretches into a third week.
00:10After running on reserve funds since October 1st, the Smithsonian says it's out of money.
00:15A notice on its Instagram page said, due to the government shutdown,
00:20Smithsonian Museums are temporarily closed beginning Sunday, October 12th.
00:25The National Zoo is also closed, though officials reassure the public
00:29the animals will continue to be fed and cared for.
00:32The one thing you won't see? The popular live animal cams.
00:36They're offline until funding returns.
00:38Thousands of tourists were turned away on the National Mall this weekend,
00:42some saying they flew from Canada and Australia only to find the doors locked.
00:47The museums and zoo will stay closed until Congress reaches a deal.
00:51And for now, there's no end in sight.
