00:00Anthony Volpe, as The Post first reported exclusively yesterday, had Abram repair surgery.
00:06Brian Cashman said it was a little more significant than they thought.
00:09He is not going to be an active player when the season begins.
00:13The Yankees are hoping he'll be back by mid-April to early May in that period.
00:18But they're saying he is still going to be the shortstop.
00:21One thing they harped on a lot, it's something I talked about in a video earlier this week,
00:26is that he's a young player and they're hoping they're still upside to him.
00:31It will be interesting what they do at shortstop.
00:33They did trade for Jose Caballero at the trade deadline.
00:36They should have Oswaldo Cabrera, who I watched on this field regularly at the end of the season,
00:41working out, had that traumatic leg injury.
00:44Those would give him two options.
00:45I expect they'll try very hard to bring in a good quadruple-A type shortstop or not.
00:50But they're continuing to say that Anthony Volpe is the shortstop moving forward
00:54and they believe there is still an upside to the player.
00:57I am curious if Caballero gets off well.
01:00That's months and months from now, and who knows.
01:03But if Caballero gets off well next year,
01:06what the implications are that coming back for a player that's very, very popular
01:11with Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman, but has lost his popularity with the fan base?
