NBA Summer League play kicked off on Thursday.
00:03
The Knicks start their action against the Pistons tonight.
00:06
So here are four questions that could be answered on the court over the next two weeks.
00:11
And that includes five games for the Knicks out in Vegas.
00:14
Number one, who are James Najee and Mohamed Diarra?
00:17
Both of these two unknown draft picks are going to take the court out in Vegas.
00:21
And we really don't know what to expect.
00:24
Najee is a big Nigerian bruiser.
00:26
And Diarra is an athletic defensive specialist.
00:30
Neither one of these guys has had much exposure.
00:33
So they both have a chance to shine and play above expectations.
00:38
Number two, did Pacom Dadia make the leap?
00:41
He has the biggest upside among last season's rookies because of his size and his offensive skill set.
00:47
He was predictably green as a teenager in the NBA.
00:51
So another year to work on his game and his body could be transformative for the French native.
00:57
Number three, how does Ariel Hookporti look after surgery?
01:01
He was injured in his first start back in February.
01:04
But he did return to the active roster after undergoing meniscus surgery.
01:08
But he didn't get any meaningful playoff minutes.
01:11
So Summer League is going to be our first real look at the big man since February.
01:15
To quote Jay-Z, it'll be a allow me to reintroduce myself type summer for the center.
01:21
Last but not least, number four, who will be worthy of the final roster spot and the two-way spots?
01:28
As it stands, the Knicks will have to sign one player with zero years of NBA experience to a standard contract.
01:35
That's guys like Diarra, Najee, or even Kevin McCuller Jr.
01:40
Then they have three potential spots for two-way contracts.
01:44
These are most likely going to be determined in training camp.
01:47
But Summer League is where you create that buzz for yourself going into camp.
01:52
Now these dudes are one step closer to either living or keeping their NBA dream alive.
01:57
And it all starts tonight when they take on the Detroit Pistons at 7 p.m.
