Jacaranda trees back in bloom across Sydney earlier than usual

Pockets of Sydney are now covered in purple, with jacaranda trees back in bloom. And thousands of Sydneysiders and tourists are flocking the streets to make the most of the view.

00:00A purple haze has settled over Sydney's streets.

00:05It just feels like spring and everyone is excited.

00:09The beloved jacaranda is back in bloom, this time a little earlier than usual thanks to lots of rain and warm weather.

00:18We come here every year, we love to watch the blooms, it's beautiful.

00:21While they're often mistaken for natives, the plant actually originates from South America.

00:27Still, it's become a symbol for Australian spring.

00:30My friend, she's local and she could recommend me to visit here because there's no like this kind of flowers in my country.

00:38For most, it's about turning this into the picture perfect backdrop as proof they were here when Sydney turned purple.

00:45I'm from Singapore actually and we saw it on Instagram so we just came down here to see the beautiful trees.
