00:00How I met your matter was the topic of today's lecture.
00:08It wasn't really about me meeting my matter, so it wasn't about my backstory.
00:12It was about sharing what's really special about material science
00:16and how we start from the absolute basics
00:18and make the buildings and the bridges and the world around us.
00:21People who want to meet also want to learn something new that Ramya might be doing.
00:33Something new, some new resource that she is working on.
00:36So I think learning aspect of it, even though people are here to meet,
00:40some people might be here to meet, everyone is here to learn.
00:44I found out about this on Instagram and I am here because, well, I am a bit nerdy
00:49but also I was kind of curious about sustainable materials and all.
00:53So I wanted to know if I could get some new ideas
00:55regarding some of the things that I am working on.
00:59To a certain degree, I didn't get like the answers,
01:01all the answers that I was looking for.
01:02But it was fun, like just having this kind of interaction
01:07where you are talking about things that are happening,
01:09newer things that are happening in science or some new idea.
01:12That is always fun, at least fun to me.
01:14We have been waiting for lectures on tap to come to India
01:19or some similar concept to come to India which has been very famous abroad
01:24but it hasn't.
01:25So we decided to start something.
01:29This is probably one of the most difficult things I prepared for
01:32because my audience, I don't know what they want, you know.
01:35So we were talking about this before the talk that maybe there should be
01:38required reading or something before so that the basics people come prepared with.
01:43So that was something that I struggled with,
01:45that I had to get into a lot of basics that were not even fun for me
01:49and maybe not even as fun for the audience.
01:52And I wanted to do the fun stuff.
01:55It was a bit of a rollercoaster today's lecture
01:58but just being able to move around and meet people was great for me.
02:01So I had a good time.
02:04After college and after school we don't get these kind of places.
02:09I mean we come to restaurants and pubs but then nothing like getting professors
02:16and seasoned professionals into these settings.
02:21So what we are trying to do is making a community where people can talk about physics, chemistry, biology
02:31or maybe from data to democracy, from physics to philosophy.
02:36That's the whole idea.
02:42It's been a month now so happy birthday, one month birthday to us.
02:46We have done four lectures and we have received very, very good response from Delhi people.
