00:04where Nicolas Sarkozy has just arrived.
00:06He's the first former French president ever to spend time behind bars.
00:10He's starting a five-year sentence for criminal conspiracy,
00:14accused of overseeing a scheme to take money from Libya to fund his 2007 campaign.
00:20Now, he denies it all, has appealed.
00:23Technically, he's still innocent in the eyes of the justice system until his next trial,
00:27but judges said the case is serious enough that he should stay in prison for now.
00:32His lawyers say they will file a request for release as soon as possible,
00:36and judges will then have up to two months to rule on it.
00:39At 70, Sarkozy's being held alone for security reasons.
