Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy to publish prison memoir on his 20 days behind bars

That was a fast turnaround... Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy is set to publish a book next month called “A Prisoner’s Diary”, detailing his 20 days in jail. He was released from La Santé prison on 10 November.

00:00Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is publishing a book about his three weeks behind
00:07bars, set to hit shelves on December 10th. His publisher Fayard said the memoir titled
00:14A Prisoner's Diary is 216 pages long, just under 11 pages per day that Sarkozy spent
00:21in prison. Sarkozy, who was separated from the general prison population, trailed the
00:27release in a post on X. A quote from the book was also released as a teaser. In prison,
00:33there is nothing to see and nothing to do. Sarkozy was convicted in September of criminal
00:39conspiracy over a scheme to obtain campaign funds for his 2007 presidential race. A Paris
00:45court gave him a five-year sentence and he became the first former French president to
00:50end up behind bars since Nazi collaborator Philippe Pétain. He was released pending appeal on the 10th
00:57of November.
