The High Sheriff of the West Midlands, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, the Lord Mayor of Coventry,
00:05
the Mayor of Dudley, the Mayor of Sandwell, the Mayor of Solihull, the Mayor of Walsall,
00:12
and the Mayor of Wolverhampton. Let's give them a big round of applause, everyone, please.
00:16
They're all just filing in there. Keep the applause going as they file in, looking resplendent
00:30
and beautiful. Dr High Sheriff just walks in there. Keep the applause going. Let's let them
00:39
bask in the applause as they walk in. There we go.
00:45
Lovely to see you and welcome. In fact, what I'm going to do now, actually, because a few people
00:51
have been here for quite a while, so let's just inject a bit of energy into this room.
00:55
Can I ask everyone to be upstanding, please? Everyone to be upstanding, and we're going to
01:00
give a big round of applause, and it's a joint one. One for all our award winners today,
01:06
and another one, and it's my honour to welcome onto the stage as we do this,
01:11
the Lord Lieutenant for the West Midlands, Derek Anderson, CBE, everybody.
01:36
Please have a seat.
01:49
It is my honour and privilege to start the formal aspect of today's event with a warm welcome,
01:59
a warm welcome to our distinguished civic guests, the High Sheriff, the Lord Mayors of Birmingham
02:07
and Coventry, their worshipful mayors of Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton,
02:15
and of course the same welcome is extended to the mayoresses and consuls present this afternoon
02:25
from across the region. In addition, I want to extend a thanks and a welcome to
02:34
TR London Academy, a vibrant performing arts school based in Bartley Green, who will be
02:41
entertaining us a little later this afternoon, and a special thanks to our Master of Ceremony,
02:49
formerly, many of you will know of Hans FM, but now with BBC Radio West Midlands, Ed James.
