00:00There's almost no one else in Parliament with the same depth of experience of Jess Phillips in listening to survivors of abuse.
00:07Jess is absolutely the right person to lead this. She's got the confidence of the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary,
00:12and I know Jess, and she cares a lot about getting this right.
00:15The issue here is that in the survivor community, completely understandably,
00:20there are different views about how best to set up the inquiry, what the scope should be, and who the chair might be.
00:26And when you've got an issue like this, where people feel really strongly about those things,
00:31the job of government is to listen, but it's ultimately then to make some decisions.
00:35That's why some survivors have still got lots of confidence in Jess and in the process,
00:40and are happy with the direction that's being taken, but I fully respect those who take a different view,
00:46and the door will always be open to them to rejoin.
