00:00The scale of the problem is that you're 40% in teenage relationship abuse, but actually one in eight women in our country last year were victims of some form of violence or abuse.
00:13So we are talking about an epidemic and the government is responding to that as a national emergency.
00:20So what will be announced today is the violence against women and girls strategy, which will focus, I have to say, for the very first time on truly trying to prevent that crime happening, dealing with the perpetrators of that crime and, as always, the importance of supporting the victims.
00:39And those measures will be all announced today in the House of Commons and many of the things that you would have seen today are part of that.
