00:00We had talked about it leading up to the weekend that potentially Billy Napier could be fired
00:05from Florida. He was, in fact, given his pink slip. They fired him at the end of the day.
00:12It's coming into Sunday afternoon, and now Florida will be looking for their new head coach.
00:18Thoughts about potentially where Florida could go and thoughts about Billy Napier big picture.
00:23Well, I'm so glad he was able to win that football game. It's clear
00:27they had their mind made up before that game, and quite often you want to go ahead and make that
00:32decision in case he wins a few more and makes it tougher on you when you've already made your mind
00:37up. You're going to make that move, and I think they had. Billy will stay. He's young. He's been
00:42successful. He'll end up on his feet, and he's got a lot of money to play with until he does,
00:47and so I know it's tough on him because he's one of the good guys, but now it's a question of who
00:53can they hire. I've heard his name. Lane Kiffin is the name everybody's mentioning, and that'll be
01:00one of those things you'll have to see, but I will say this. They won't go after a G5, G6 head coach
01:07because that would be the same thing they just did. That knocks a lot of great coaches out of the way.
01:11I think they've got to go after somebody else's coach that's very, very successful. Lane Kiffin has
01:17ties to Florida. To me, he's the most Spurrier-like coach in the country. Him and Signetti are the most
01:22Spurrier-like personalities, Spurrier-like head coaches, and Signetti's locked up, and you know
01:30what? Ole Miss could very well lock Lane Kiffin up, but he will always be a fighting under. At Ole Miss,
01:36you will always be a little bit of an underdog because when you're playing at Florida, you don't
01:40ever have to be an underdog because of their resources. They have the resources. They have the
01:45money, and they're willing to pay. Do you feel like, and I know because Lane Kiffin coaching in the
01:50conference and the success that he's brought Ole Miss, and you mentioned the offensive philosophy
01:55with a young quarterback, especially if DJ Lagway stays in school, you want to have a coach that
02:00could cultivate that talent to the next level. Just thoughts. Do you think they would ever go the
02:05route of potentially Brent Key at Georgia Tech? I know it's a different conference. It's not viewed
02:10as dominant as the SEC, but Brent Key did go toe-to-toe with his arch-rival Georgia. I mean,
02:16taking them to eight overtimes on the road, if he potentially wins out in the ACC, would they even
02:23entertain Brent Key or another coach like that? Well, you know, that's a different type of offense,
02:28but you know what? And that's kind of the type of offense that Urban Meyer ran when he was there
02:33with a quarterback, a running quarterback, throwing quarterback. Yeah, if he continued to win,
02:39and you got to remember, just because they may identify somebody as their guy, that guy may say no.
02:45So when it gets down to it, they want to make sure you believe that they got their first guy,
02:51and their first guy wants to believe he's their first choice. But if they're going after the
02:55right guys, there's always a 50-50 chance he's not going to go there, or somebody else is going
03:01to get him. So Keyes is good enough to coach a lot of places. I think right now, we need to
03:06continue to see, because he doesn't have the body of work over the years. He's still building that
03:12right now. I think Lane Kiffin has proved himself in a couple of places.
