00:00It was here in the Montserrat Mountains outside Barcelona where Isak Andik, founder of the Spanish fast fashion empire Mango, fell 100 meters to his death while hiking with his eldest son Jonathan in December 2024.
00:15I was outside. I heard helicopters. I heard a lot of ambulance activity and then I went down to see what was happening. I asked police but no one would tell me anything. Later in the afternoon the news came out that this man had fallen.
00:28The death was initially ruled an accident but police confirmed the investigation is still open and reports say Jonathan is suspected of homicide.
00:36Jonathan, the only person present at the time of the accident, gave testimony that was inconsistent with forensic evidence and fueled suspicion, reported El Pais Daily.
00:45However, Catalan Regional Police told AFP the investigation is not targeting any specific person.
00:52Over there at that rock is where the helicopters were looking the most.
00:56I get the feeling that he fell behind the rock on this path, turned in that direction and went off towards the end, ending up at the monastery of Montserrat.
01:07Jonathan began working at Mango in 2005 and is currently the vice chairman of the company's board.
01:13The Andik family is one of the richest in Spain, with Forbes estimating their fortune at nearly 3.9 billion euros.
01:19A year before his death, Isak Andik opened Mango's ownership, selling a 5% stake to current board chairman Tony Ruiz.
