00:14national and international media where he referred to the aggressive foreign
00:17policy of the United States government against the island. During a meeting of
00:25the Council of Ministers Colombian President Gustavo Petro denounced the
00:28United States interventionist actions against the country. In Argentina, authorities in
00:37the investigation into the Libra crypto scam requested the immediate arrest of
00:41businessman Mauricio Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy.
00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Resur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin the news.
01:10On Wednesday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez denounced the aggressive foreign
01:14policy of the United States government against the island and an escalation on its threats and
01:20pressures on third countries ahead of the vote at the UN General Assembly on the US blockade.
01:24Let's go now live with our correspondent Miranda Los Santos for all the details on this important
01:28press conference. Hello Luis, exactly as you were saying, it's the latest news here from Havana, Cuba.
01:37The press conference that was offered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez
01:42Parilla here in Cuba with one main objective. Let's put this in the general framework. Next week, the UN General
01:50Assembly will once again debate on the resolution to lift the economic blockade imposed by the United
01:57States on the island. And in this context, just days before, what the Cuban government through its
02:03Minister of Foreign Affairs is denouncing is that the United States is carrying out a pressure and threat
02:11campaign that is focused and has one objective, that is to threat, to pose threats upon third parties and
02:19other states in order to change their historical vote. Let's recall that this vote in the General
02:25Assembly usually year after year votes with a great majority in favor of lifting the economic blockade. This
02:33means that an overwhelming majority of the international community is in favor of lifting these coercive
02:39measures and actually are just agreed that this is an international tactic that is against international
02:48law. In this context, the U.S. administration now led by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State
02:54Marco Rubio. Due to this and in this denouncing, they are calling for an international campaign by which
03:02they have just submitted letters to different governments around the world threatening them
03:09with the possibility so that they could just change their voting in the General Assembly. So what the Cuban
03:16government is exposing with evidence right now, and this is not the first time that we hear from this
03:21campaign. Actually, the Reuters agency also talked about this just days ago, and it says that in two
03:29separate letters on October 8th and October 17th, the U.S. government sent documents to governments,
03:38particularly of Europe and also of Latin America, threatening them and just telling them that they should
03:46change their historical vote in favor of the lifting of the economic blockade on Cuba to a position that
03:53is aligned with the United States. Let's recall that usually in this voting, the only state that votes
04:00with the United States, aside from itself, is usually its long-time ally Israel and just one or two maybe
04:09allies, as has been the case of Ukraine, for example, and the United States is trying to pressure other states
04:17from moving towards that position. What are these letters saying? Well, they are unveiling some threats
04:25about possible consequences, negative consequences and impacts that the United States could have on these other
04:32states if they do not align with their interests. One of the key elements of these letters was the United
04:38States saying that an ally of the United States needs to stand by the U.S. in this debate or else,
04:47something like that, so there is a bailed threat of possible consequences. Let's recall that the Trump
04:52administration has been one to use commercial tactics such as the tariffs pressure in order to interfere,
05:00directly interfere in the internal affairs of different countries. This poses just a new scenario for,
05:08for example, the European governments and Latin American governments that have, in a great majority,
05:15been in support of Cuba and also against the United States. One of the main ideas of this press conference
05:26that the Minister Bruno Rodríguez held had to do with just unveiling that the United States is trying to impose a
05:33narrative that says that Cuba is a threat to regional stability and peace. A threat that has is found in no evidence
05:43is actually just based on unfunded narratives that have been led by misinformation campaigns. Some we have seen during the past weeks,
05:51for example, trying to link just Cuba and the island to conflicts that have absolutely nothing to do with this,
05:58like the European conflict between Russia and Ukraine, also by drug trafficking in the region against baseless foundations
06:07and accusations that the Cuban ministers said are silly but very dangerous. Why? Because we have seen the U.S.
06:16government use this tactic and this narrative, for example, in the Caribbean at this moment to justify
06:24military aggressions and direct acts. So in this context is that we have heard from the Cuban minister
06:32explain what is happening at this moment. Again, we are days from one more session of the General Assembly. The
06:39blocate will be debated once again. And the Cuban position is that the United States is doing this because
06:46it knows that year after year they become isolated in this topic, that the whole international community
06:53is denouncing that the blockade is illegal and directly affecting the Cuban people. And they are
06:58trying through pressure tactics to change the scenario. So the Cuban government took today to the press
07:04to expose these maneuvers. This was all for now, but we'll continue updating this information. I go back to you, Luis.
07:11Thank you, Valen, for the information coming straight from Havana. We'll stay tuned for everything that
07:17is going to happen from this moment on all the way to the October 28th and 29th when the voting
07:22takes place at the UN General Assembly. Let's, in this context, continue to listen to some of the
07:26statements that the Cuban foreign minister made. He addressed the misinformation campaign from the U.S.
07:30aimed at countries that traditionally support Cuba in this voting.
07:35He has a fraudulent approach that on one side they tried to prove, and it's one of the subtitles,
07:47the Cuban regime does not deserve your support.
07:52This is directed to governments that always have voted for decades, some with over 30 years,
08:01in favor of the elimination of the blockade, of the reestablishment of international law,
08:11the end of a crime, of a crime of genocide, in the framework of the corresponding convention,
08:22and that as an overwhelming majority of the member states of the United Nations,
08:28that reflect also the thinking and position overwhelmingly in the majority of U.S. citizens
08:38that are the ones paying the emissers, the U.S. diplomats that are involved in this management,
08:48that also reflect the majority opinion of Cubans that live in the United States,
08:54all of which at the same time are victims of this aggression policy and hostilities and blockade.
09:08During a meeting of the Council of Ministers, Colombian President Gustavo Petro denounced
09:12the United States' interventionist actions against the country. During the meeting,
09:16President Petro condemned the U.S. actions in the region and their campaign to discredit
09:21the national fight against drugs. The President also declared that Colombia will not support U.S.
09:25intervention in the Caribbean, nor will it lend itself to the murder of young Venezuelans.
09:30In this sense, the President denounced Trump's oil greed in Venezuela and condemned Colombians who
09:35want an invasion of the bloody country. In turn, the President called on the wall to help in the face
09:41of U.S. aggressions and explained the disastrous consequences that an invasion would bring to Colombia.
09:46President Gustavo Petro also explained why it is impossible for Venezuela to be the biggest
09:55exporter of cocaine, as claimed by unfounded reports from Washington and some Latin American
10:00agents of the far right.
10:02How could Venezuela be the main exporter of cocaine?
10:09Through something they call the Cartel de los Soles, and that by abusing their function,
10:15congressmen, because the one who directs international relations in Colombia is the President,
10:22try to provide what does not exist. From there, no cocaine leaves for Venezuela,
10:27other than from Catatumbo to the Gulf of Maracaibo, part of what is produced in Catatumbo,
10:34can no longer leave because the distances between the Green and Venezuela, which are close to each
10:41other, are covered with abandoned coca leaf crops. Cocaine can only leave for Venezuela in Apure,
10:48which borders Arauca, where we know that planes with cocaine leave if they are sent by plane from
10:56the airports in Bogota. Mitchell Holman Morris, investigate. The CIA and the DEA gives us the maps
11:04of the routes of aircraft or small planes from Apure to the other side of Arauca and beyond,
11:12following the Colombian border outward, but not the routes of aircraft between the airports of Bogota
11:17and Arauca. And Russia once again reaffirmed its support for Venezuela in the face of growing U.S.
11:27hostility. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Venezuelan Ambassador Rafael Salazar Velazquez
11:33in Moscow to assess the bilateral strategic partnership and existing agreements between
11:37the two countries. During the meeting, the Foreign Minister presented the Venezuelan diplomat
11:41with the order of friendship and reiterated Russia's commitment to peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.

12:11Welcome back. Ecuador's leading indigenous organization, CONAI, has accused President Daniel
12:24Novoa's administration of committed unprecedented human rights violations during recent security
12:29operations. In a statement, CONAI alleged that government forces use excessive violence, including
12:34tear gas and rubber bullets, against civilians in indigenous communities, resulting in dozens of
12:39injuries and arbitrary detentions. The group claims these actions violate both national laws and
12:44international human rights agreements. The organization reported that at least 50 injuries,
12:49including critical cases and 31 detentions, alongside alleged interference with medical care,
12:54CONAI has called for international opportunity and is preparing to escalate the case to global human
12:59rights bodies. On Tuesday, the Ecuadorian Ministry of the Interior published a report stating that
13:10over the last nine months, more than 6,700 homicides were committed in the country, meaning that one person
13:16was murdered every 58 minutes. The official report confirmed that the number of homicides recorded in
13:212025 is the highest in the nation's history. In this regard, 6,797 homicides recorded between January and
13:28September 2025 exited by 36.76 percent, those that occurred for the same period in 2024. The information
13:35indicated that an average of 25 crimes are committed daily in Ecuador. In addition, the Ministry's report
13:41also noted the highest circulation of weapons in the country. The total number of murders,
13:4660112 were perpetrated with the use of firearms. And in Argentina, the immediate arrest of businessmen
14:00Mauricio Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy was requested in connection with the investigation into
14:05the Libra crypto scam. The request comes after the discovery of million-dollar transactions between
14:11their accounts and those of Hayden Davis, the creator of the token and an associate of President Javier
14:16Belay. The request was submitted by cryptocurrency expert Martin Romeo to Judge Marcelo Martinez de Gheorgi,
14:23who is leading the investigation. According to Romeo, the evidence indicates a clear traceability
14:30of the money from Davis' digital wallets to those of Novelli and Torrones Godoy.

15:11Welcome back. Foreign observers have outlined their expectations for China's new five-year economic
15:21plan, which is currently being reviewed at the ongoing fourth plenarization of the 20th Communist
15:25Party of China's Central Committee, opened in Beijing on Monday. According to Pavel Troshinsky,
15:32head of the Center for Political Research of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of
15:38Sciences. This plan represents a significant global economic improvement as China contributes a
15:45significant portion of global GDP to global economic development, and this GDP is reflected
15:50in a decrease in the cost of production in each country. The event, which ends on October 23rd,
15:54represents a key point for China's social sustainability, the region's reciprocity agreements,
15:59and the Asian giants' projection to the international community.
16:08In Palestine, since the ceasefire took effect in Gaza, only 996 humanitarian aid trucks have
16:13entered the territory. A small fraction of the 6,600 trucks originally agreed. According to the government
16:19media office in Gaza, among the convoys that managed to enter were 14 trucks carrying cooking gas,
16:25and 28 trucks carrying fuel, essential to operate bakeries, hospitals, generators, and other critical
16:31services. However, the daily average of 8 trucks entering since the ceasefire began is only 89,
16:37far below the 600 trucks per day stipulated in the agreement. Authorities stress that this limited
16:43aid falls far short of gas as minimum humanitarian needs. They also emphasize that a steady flow of at
16:48least 600 trucks daily carrying food, medical supplies, fuel, and cooking gas is urgently needed to ensure
16:55basic living conditions for the people.
16:57The Panamanian Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology issued a hurricane watch due to the formation of
17:19Tropical Storm Melissa in the Caribbean Sea, south of the Dominican Republic. The two-day measure comes in
17:25response to the forecast trajectory of the storm, which is expected to move toward the major antilles,
17:30including the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. Although Melissa is not
17:35expected to directly impact Panama, it is expected to generate significant rainfall and an increase in wind
17:39speeds. The Institute of Meteorology had previously issued a rainfall watch that was in effect until midnight
17:46on Tuesday. This will have come to the end of this news review. You can find this and many other stories
