02:26you know the thing is with the tatum returns all the speculation of him coming back this this year
02:31has been driven by him and only him no one else has really put that out there i know the celtics
02:36won't go out and explicitly rule him out for the year but he's the only one saying that he wants to
02:40come back this year and is really pushing for that so i still think there's a chance he does i mean
02:44somewhere in the february or march range and by all accounts all accounts it appears that his
02:49you know non-stop rehab is on the right track but again he's the only one fueling that speculation so
02:54he did say he has a date picked out yes he has a game that he wants to play he has a game that he
02:59wants to be like at home at home so i mean i i think wick answered that the right way like it makes no
03:05sense for anybody other than tatum to say if and when he's coming back plus there's so much time for
03:10setbacks and whatever else you don't want to have like a circle of date but then he contradicts it
03:14he's like well we're gonna have five doctors and we're really gonna cry and this is like what shams
03:17has said before yeah where he's like we're gonna have a whole team of people making a decision it's
03:21like why he's cleared and then if tatum wants to do it he should play what do you need that many people
03:25for he does seem i mean way ahead of schedule like every every step of the way like when they
03:29should they clip him running up and down the court then they should start dunking dunking flat foot
03:33dunking yeah it's like okay i like that and so if they want to hold him out for the whole season i
03:39honestly wouldn't have a problem with that because that's usually the nature of this injury but if
03:44he thinks he can come back in march and just don't play him in back-to-backs or whatever like do it
03:48i'm a little different on that and i think that if he's fully cleared and 100 healthy he should play
03:53i mean i look at it almost like a phone charger right you leave your phone on the charger overnight
03:58once it's at 100 it's not going to go any higher so what's the point of keeping him out like if he's
04:03100 if i'm being consistent though i do leave it i do leave it way past 100 well everyone does because
04:08you're sleeping but it's it's the sense that it's not going to go any higher so if if he's 100
04:12healthy yeah what's the point of not having a gas tank trying to just more than top it off and you
04:17have gas spraying out of the car the whole thing but like regardless of how the team is performing
04:21wouldn't you want him out there kind of relearning his body yes acclimating to the pace of play no
04:26you're right my answer is yes is there any scenario where the team says we'd rather have the lottery
04:31pick than him coming back and tatum and the team could disagree on that i just don't think they're
04:35going to be bad enough to be in lottery contention i mean the core that they have so pritcher white
04:40and brown is just too prideful i don't think so either but what if they're on the cusp and they're
04:44like tatum definitely takes us out of the lottery and just picture that scenario could you see tatum
04:49and the team not on the same page possibly but i also don't think he's going to come back and be an
04:53all-nba player i think that's part of it as well in fact he could hurt them in the sense that he's
04:58going to be playing a little bit slower and it might result in some losses depending on what kind of
05:01in that sense depending on the loss like i mean clip that headline tatum could hurt self
05:07so that's good the pace they want to play at the style they want to play it's going to take him time
05:13to acclimate to that so more so like if you're trying to get him involved and stuff like that
05:17maybe it could hurt them in that sense i don't think it would obviously you're adding an all-nba
05:20player but it could i just think this year if he's healthy he should play all right what's it
05:26going to look like in the front court because i feel like everybody's going to feel good about the
05:30guards that they have and we can get into like who starts who doesn't all that stuff but
05:33who's getting rebounds who's guarding the other team's big men what what is that going to look
05:38like early on this yeah the rebounds is going to be a problem for this team all year especially
05:41in the defensive class i mean jason tatum's their best rebounder christoph's porzingis was their
05:45second best on a per game basis and al horford and luke cornett were second and third in totals last
05:50year like the personnel is just not there and they're a much smaller team and defensive rebounding is
05:54something we're going to talk about with this team for the entire year it's going to lose them games
05:58that's just the reality of it so they're going to have to make up for it in different areas and
06:01that's going to be forcing turnovers that's going to be grabbing offensive rebounds and the answer to
06:05the rebounding is it's going to be a collective effort i mean derrick white led them in rebounds
06:09a couple times in the preseason like everyone's going to rebound one through five and if you don't
06:13you're going to be pulled on the bench so you're saying tonight hypothetically take your mb over
06:17is that's what you're saying uh i'd probably lean that way yeah and this is as healthy as you're
06:20going to get joel and bead right and you know it's downhill after the guy won an mbp three years ago
06:25he just hasn't been able to play when he's on the floor and when he's healthy he's dominant as
06:30can be no he's very good and this is as healthy as he's going to be it's they're going to have
06:33their hands you know full with him tonight but it's going to be a one through five thing it's not
06:36one specific guy shutting him down like they're going to mix and match different coverages and
06:41you know try their best to slow him down is there one guy though out of like the kata boucher garza
06:46like tillman group that you think could be the most consistent or is it literally every night
06:53it's going to be a different guy they're going to need it to be namish kata they're going to need
06:56it to be him i mean he's the closest thing to a true center that they have i mean boucher is going
07:00to be great but he plays more of the four like i don't think it's necessarily that's necessarily his

07:36yeah he's lived up to that nickname throughout the preseason the way the guy plays just hustling on
07:41the glass defensively like i think if anyone's going to receive votes for that award that's on
07:45the celtics it's josh minot people are gonna be really surprised with this kid i think he's gonna
07:49be very good um before we get to some superlatives and not to tell anybody how to do their job but
07:53there was one question you wanted to hear from wick today about the luxury tax uh they were asking
07:58about the second apron you're curious about if the celtics uh or how they will approach the luxury
08:03tax around the trade deadline they have to be below it by then or else they'll owe what so if
08:07they're roughly 12 million it's like 12.1 over the luxury tax right now 4 million above the first
08:13apron so if they are if they keep the roster as is right now and they are over that uh that luxury
08:19tax line they'll owe almost 40 million 39 and a half so i wonder so who are you looking at come trade
08:25deadline time if bill chisholm which he probably wants to do and i'll say this for you wants to get
08:30below the luxury tax who are we looking at that could go be anthony simons i mean he's on a 27.7 million
08:35dollar expiring contract and every team at the trade deadline is going to be looking for shooting
08:40and this is a guy who i think is going to fit offensively great into the system and i think
08:44defensively as well it's going to help playing around derrick white joe mazula has been fantastic
08:48on the defensive end like with his scheming and so they finished second second fourth in defensive
08:52rating his three years here it's gone overlooked because of how good they've been offensively setting
08:56nba records for most efficient offense and three-pointers whatever it may be
09:00but defensively they've been fantastic as well so i think anthony simons is going to be very good
09:05for this team and i think they could drive up his value a little bit and that's something i'm going
09:08to be looking for i mean if they don't view simons as a long-term fit to this team i can definitely
09:13see them moving i'm not not even necessarily to get under the luxury tax but to also just gain further
09:19assets and maybe that depends on how the team is performing but if they view him as a possible
09:24contributor to this team maybe they extend him in the offseason i'm happy he made it to this point
09:28because there was a lot of fear like you know guys like george niang and some of the other ones
09:31they brought they might just dump them right they might but they still have them yeah so i thought
09:35that was as good as you were probably going to get in the turn for joe holiday so fun to watch yeah
09:39he's great the offense has been as advertised i mean he was one of 20 players last year to make 200
09:44threes is what the last before last year he averaged 23 straight years like so mazula he's a professional
09:49bucket getter he's he's gonna fit in the mazula style hold up yeah i mean yeah that's true
09:54mazula has more of an emphasis on defense than he does offense well he's screaming at the rebounds
09:59and the rebound that's like i said that's gonna be an issue all year simon's gonna put that to the

10:30be yeah i agree it's jaylen brown i actually think he's going to get back on the lmba team this year
10:34assuming he reaches the 65 game threshold he should absolutely get on all right that's an easy one so
10:38honorable mention though would it be derrick white like it would be next probably the next guy yeah
10:42would be derrick white he might want something else to come up on this list but yeah the mvp should
10:46for sure be jaylen brown and if it's not then there's a real problem like then they are in the lottery
10:52and they are telling tatum either he's hurt or he had a bad season do you guys think he gets back on
10:55the lmba i do yeah i mean he's had a case the last two years and we went through it last year he had
11:00an outside chance last year the year before in 23 24 he might have been snubbed for uh devon booker
11:05i think he he should be if he's not especially this year with no tatum and if they are uh decent if
11:12they're a top six seed then yeah they'll look the only thing i'd worry about is if they do struggle
11:16and they do start to embrace a tank which i don't think they would they shut a sprained ankle turn into
11:20a six yeah yeah all right so jalen brown's team mvp what else all right we might already know terp's
11:27answer to this one but most improved they still give that out nba award most improved well if he's
11:32going to be most improved in the whole league you go a lot more uh well is is that your answer that's
11:36my pick for the celtics yeah i mean let's think of who else it could even be keith uh i don't think
11:42simons or pritchard would qualify they're already good certified nba players garza garza's a great one

12:19that's great i mean i mean he and drew holiday was as good of a defensive backcourt as there's
12:24probably been right like that was awesome and so you lose a little bit of that obviously i mean
12:28holiday gone there's a dearth of other options i mean who again who is even on the list aside from
12:32that jalen has been a candidate to be all defense in the past he got all defensive votes two years ago
12:37right but i don't think there are many kata a little bit of a kata the eraser simons i don't think
12:43no nominees for simon i don't think simon's will be most improved defensively sure maybe
12:46peyton pritchard that's not a uh nord okay all right so derrick white gets defensive player all
12:51right six minute of the year they had the nba six minute of the year last year and peyton pritchard
12:54do we even know yet is he gonna start or is he gonna come off the bench he's gonna start he's

13:30non-guaranteed deal sneaky sneaky horrible teammate turns out horrible team a bona fide coach killer
13:35yeah malcolm brogdon he's had like 10 coaches he seemed like such a good fit when they got him
13:39bad at the time bad teammate coach killer no i'm with you simons because i in my i would have just
13:46had pritchard come off the bench and do the same thing he did last year but if they decide to they
13:49want to start him and they feel like he earned that or whatever great simons should step right into
13:54those shoes and he's got plenty of opportunity to score just looking at the numbers from last year
13:57and i know he's a start he started all 70 games last year but simons averaged 19.3 points 4.8 assists 2.7
14:03rebounds pritchard last year in a six man of the year award-winning year 14.3 points three and a
14:07half assists 3.8 rebounds can it simons get to those numbers absolutely yeah what did pritchard
14:13set was it like threes off the bench threes off the bench yeah like a most yeah get ready to shatter
14:17that i was gonna say simon's like okay i'll chase it down it is hauser gonna start it's gonna switch i
14:24actually believe joe mazula when he says it's gonna switch every night like there's not going to be a set
14:28it's like the red sauce rotation a set a starting lineup we actually might have 12 starters
14:32so i think hauser my guess is i by the end of the year i think most of the guys on this roster
14:37would have made at least one star okay but hauser hauser's not really going to qualify as a quote
14:41unquote six man because he might start a lot of games i think he's gonna start yeah okay all right
14:44so we'll go with we'll go simons what else we have all right we have the kia clutch player presented

14:55i mean he's had a legitimate shot to win it the last couple years just the league award he seems
15:01like he he has uh had some monster shots we go back to the playoffs like the crazy tip-in that he had
15:07but even still like as good as jalen brown is and we went over the numbers before remember early last
15:12season when tatum missed a couple game winners and we're like oh maybe brown actually maybe deserves
15:16more of these but like derrick white well it's got he's got that in him this is going to be interesting
15:20is jalen does jalen defer in these moments this year uh because this is his opportunity uh to really
15:27be the guy without tatum does he really take over in these so jalen's gonna have a real opportunity
15:32to be clutch this year we really evaluate him in the clutch player but i think the kia clutch player
15:36is derrick white statistically speaking when jason tatum has been out it's jalen's playmaking
15:42that has gone up his assist have trickled up so i think it'd be more of that oh nice so you're
15:46saying jalen over assist tonight assuming he plays assuming he plays i think he does play he's
15:50practiced in those last two days those may or may not already be in a jones parlay with the
15:54with the overs i was uh i think it was set at five and a half i think i'm sorry four and a half six
16:01yeah i took him at five so you have mb points and rebounds over and then i upped the mb points and
16:06rebounds to 30 and 10 and i took the jalen assists all parlay together plus 900 if you want to ride

17:08them they're going deeper into the rotation this year but yeah i think he's going to play i think
17:12he could play like north of 50 games this year wow in your face jones i mean okay so i'll just
17:17suck on that jones contribute meaning he'll play in games or actually be like somebody who's
17:21contributing to the he's going to contribute oh yeah no he's going to play they're all guards
17:25and minot is going to get some uh most improved player of the year like how how's he going to get
17:30these minutes well he's more he's going to play as a wing he's actually very very versatile
17:33but i'm saying that's defensively what they want to do they're going to go deep and white and brown
17:38and baylor shireman all these guys are going to factor into guard wing minutes so i don't simon's
17:42pritchard i don't know where the minutes are but all right but they're going to go deep you're the
17:45expectation yeah like you're going to be surprised like they're going to play 11 12 guys they're going
17:49to go really deep there's plenty of opportunity on this team okay two more yeah terp you've seen all
17:53these guys very up close who's your coach of the year for the celtics uh well i it's going to be

19:01you had tatum there so so white stats are going to go up we've seen games where tatum hasn't played
19:05white is going to be an easy 20 plus point per game score that gets you at least on the radar but
19:09you guys know how nba all-star teams work too where it is related and correlates to how good your team
19:14is and they're going to be a way worse team okay now we lead into the last question where do you think
19:18they finish in the eastern conference i still think they finish sixth six sounds right yeah i
19:25think six does something right it's just outside of the plan i think that's how they're gonna look
19:29if you finish sixth i think you can get two all-stars on good yeah yeah i don't think they will but they
