00:00Ordnance Survey has mapped more than 6.5 million streetlights across Britain, showing which roads and paths are fully lit, mostly lit, mostly unlit or completely dark.
00:12Bristol records 370 lights per square kilometre, while nearby Kingswood and Fishponds have 351, placing them near the bottom of the list.
00:22The data is there to help planners identify areas where additional lighting could make evenings safer.
00:27The findings are particularly relevant given wider safety concerns.
00:31A YouGov survey found two-thirds of women feel unsafe walking home alone at night, at least sometimes, and a quarter say they always do.
00:39Half of women avoid being out at certain times to reduce risk, while many also feel unsafe using taxis or public transport.
00:47Younger women are especially affected, with nearly three-quarters of those aged 18 to 29 reporting concerns.
00:53The data shows where streets shine, and where more could be done to keep people safe after dark.
