00:00Okay, well, house is gone.
00:02Mary Alice and Patrick are rebuilding their home from scratch.
00:06We are Hurricane Helene victims.
00:09We left with a backpack with a change of clothes, a wallet, and flashlight.
00:13Is that Mary Alice? It's Patrick.
00:15That must have been terrifying.
00:17And we're attempting a new build approach.
00:20Smarter and a stronger way to build near the water.
00:23They are built off-site.
00:25I've never heard of this process before.
00:27Here comes Mary Alice and Patrick's house.
00:29But the unknown?
00:30We don't know what to expect.
00:32And just like that, we're already putting drywall on the walls.
00:35Brings new challenges.
00:37Elevator.
00:38We didn't figure that in the budget.
00:40What in the... that's a problem.
00:42There she is!
00:44We're about to lift this over the power lines
00:46and place this on that elevated foundation.
00:48Put your seatbelts on.
00:49That leaves us all on the edge of our seat.
00:52I want to walk in and not be able to tell it's a manufactured home.
00:56I want to go in and be like, wow.
00:58Oh, here they come!
00:59Here they are!
01:00Oh, my God.
01:01Oh, man, Brian.
01:02This is looking good so far.
01:04Yeah!
01:05Mika and I build custom homes on fast timelines.
01:09We don't want to carry two mortgages for too long.
01:11Time is money.
01:13We're proof that construction and marriage can mix.
01:16Give me a sweaty hug.
01:17We're still doing new construction.
01:19You ready to break some ground?
01:21But now we're taking bigger risks.
01:24Look at all that black mold behind that wall.
01:26I think we're going to do a shipping container house.
01:29Let's go!
01:30Making bolder decisions.
01:31Put your arm up here.
01:34We've never put it in any other house.
01:36And always racing the clock.
01:38I can't believe they're going to be living inside of this
01:41in less than 100 days.
01:42This is amazing.
01:55Holy moly.
01:56Okay, well.
01:57The house is gone.
01:58Yeah, it looks like they have a pool area.
02:01Oh, there they are hanging out on the dock.
02:03Hello there!
02:04Hi!
02:05Welcome!
02:06Today we are in Indian Rocks, just south of Clearwater.
02:09Some of the best beaches in the entire country right here.
02:12This location is beautiful.
02:15It is.
02:16We've been here six years.
02:17Got water out back and short walk to the beach.
02:20But we are Hurricane Helene victims, and we are rebuilding our home.
02:25I'm assuming it wasn't elevated.
02:27It was your traditional, like, looking at some of the neighboring homes.
02:29One level.
02:30That was the surge got us.
02:31About 8.30, water started coming in.
02:34In every crevice.
02:36And then we both decided it's time to go.
02:39And then we tried three doors and we couldn't get out.
02:42Because of the pressure of the water?
02:44Yeah.
02:45So that's when I got freaked out.
02:46Whoa!
02:47I said, okay, this is it.
02:48And so we pushed out the rear door from the family room.
02:51We left with a backpack with a change of clothes, a wallet, and flashlights.
02:56Yeah.
02:57And we're carrying it out.
02:58We're out on the street with the water up to our rib cage.
03:01Is that Mary Alice?
03:02Is that Mary Alice?
03:03Is that Mary Alice?
03:04It is Mary Alice.
03:05That's Patrick.
03:06Yeah.
03:07And a good neighbor.
03:08They're elevated.
03:09And they took us in at midnight.
03:11So are you guys, like, born and raised in Florida?
03:14No.
03:15We're from Virginia.
03:16Okay.
03:17Our youngest son, we paid our last tuition check.
03:19We're like, we don't need this big house.
03:21We don't need to live in Virginia anymore.
03:23And we found this little slice of paradise.
03:26Yeah.
03:27Indian Rocks Beach.
03:28We love the people, the community.
03:29It's great.
03:30Two sons.
03:31And we have four grandchildren and one on the way.
03:33So the original aim of moving to Florida and buying a home that's on the water was to
03:38be the central gathering place for the family.
03:41Grandkids can learn how to swim here.
03:43There's probably peace of mind knowing that if we build something new and elevated, you're
03:47not going to have to worry about it anymore.
03:49Where are you guys currently staying at right now?
03:51We are approximately three miles from here in a one-bedroom furnished conda.
03:57Oh, wow.
03:58One-bedroom.
03:59And...
04:00Why'd you point to him?
04:01Well, we work out of there, too.
04:04Literally have a desk in front of our bed.
04:06So it's very tight quarters.
04:08One of the positive features of building new is we get a chance to customize this house
04:13for you guys.
04:14Are you kind of leaning towards something similar to what you had before?
04:17Our house was three-bedroom, two-bath.
04:20I'd like to have maybe four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath.
04:23Okay.
04:24We had a great open floor plan, so we'd kind of like to continue that.
04:29And storage.
04:30Okay.
04:31What are you guys thinking as far as your style?
04:34Coastal.
04:35Makes sense, right?
04:36Yeah.
04:37What are we looking at as far as budget?
04:39So, we're figuring it's going to exceed a million dollars.
04:44Yeah.
04:45Every time you work with pilings, unfortunately, that is going to add, on average, at least
04:49$100,000.
04:50Right there.
04:51Automatically.
04:52And that's just to get the house elevated in the air.
04:54Plus, you guys are going to go a little bit bigger.
04:56Yes.
04:57So, a million dollars plus?
04:59275.
05:00Okay.
05:01That's what we think.
05:02That's good to know.
05:03Okay.
05:04So, I mean, especially with the last hurricane season that we had, one thing we have really
05:07focused on is doing research on how to rebuild these homes and not take two years
05:12and still make it cost effective.
05:14So, we actually just found a build partner that I think would be perfect for your scenario.
05:18All right.
05:19Well, tell us about it.
05:20Well, here's the only thing.
05:22They don't build here.
05:25They get manufactured in a warehouse up in Georgia, shipped down here, and put in place.
05:31Oh.
05:32Interesting.
05:33Interesting, right?
05:34Yeah.
05:35These actually withstand up to 180 miles per hour winds, where your traditional block
05:39home is about 150 miles per hour.
05:41Wow.
05:42They are built much quicker because they are built off-site.
05:45What's it going to look like on the outside?
05:47It's going to look like whatever you want it to look like.
05:49I bet.
05:50I mean, so you guys open to this option, you think?
05:52Uh, we'd love to see an example.
05:55Right before we commit.
05:57Yeah.
05:58Okay.
05:59I've never heard of this process before.
06:01Never really been in the market to hear of this process before.
06:06The next step is inspiration tours, so I think it's going to be crucial that we see one that
06:11you can kind of walk through, feel the quality.
06:14I think that'd be a good idea.
06:15Before we go, I feel like Brian and I need to get inspired and check out this water view.
06:19Yeah.
06:20Okay, yeah.
06:21Can you imagine the sunsets when you're more elevated?
06:23Woo!
06:24So Mary Alice Patrick today is all about inspiration, and in this case, education.
06:37This is technically two modules together, and it's about 10 to 12 feet in the air, which
06:42is similar to what we're going to build on your property.
06:45I know you guys want a little bit more square footage.
06:47I think we would have to actually have at least three modules.
06:50What are your first thoughts?
06:51I like how it looks.
06:53It looks great.
06:54Yeah, I think it's cute.
06:55It's beachy.
06:56It's cute.
06:57I like it.
06:58Yes.
06:59And then you can dress it up with whatever material, like if you like board and batten,
07:03in this case, they did a siding, to make it look like any other home on the street.
07:08Okay.
07:09Now, one thing you'll notice when you elevate, guess what that creates?
07:12Storage!
07:13Storage!
07:14Exactly!
07:15I would like to have it blocked in and closed.
07:19We can even, you know, install two garage doors or however you want it to look.
07:22Right.
07:23I think that would be better.
07:24That would look good.
07:25Of course, I'd want to see the insides.
07:26I hear you.
07:27That's important.
07:28So you can see how they're pieced together and see how seamless the house flows.
07:31So let's go.
07:32All right.
07:33We don't know what to expect.
07:35We're going in with an open mind.
07:37I want to walk in and not be able to tell it's a manufactured home.
07:41I want to go in and be like, wow, you know.
07:44Look around.
07:45The ceiling height's pretty high.
07:46So this would be equivalent to what you would be looking at.
07:50There's no seams.
07:51That's all been camouflaged.
07:53You would never be able to tell that this is actually two modules put together.
07:56It just looks like it's all one big open space.
08:00This is two, so that's 15 feet a piece.
08:03It's a pretty big space.
08:05Um.
08:14Now that we get a feel of what it's going to feel like to build a modular home, structurally
08:18sound home on the water, are we feeling like we're good with moving forward with this
08:23type of construction?
08:25How do you feel?
08:26Uh.
08:27I definitely feel more comfortable.
08:30Yeah?
08:31Yeah.
08:32It's beautiful.
08:33Good.
08:34Yeah.
08:35We've been looking forward to today for so long.
08:39Just to get more comfort in what we're doing.
08:43I can't wait.
08:44I'm excited.
08:45How about you?
08:46Yes.
08:47Very excited.
08:50Now we can get down to the nitty gritty and really, like, dive into design.
08:55So, uh, let's go.
08:56Let the fun begin.
08:58You thinking you want to do color on the outside?
09:01We disagree on that.
09:03Oh, boy.
09:04I knew it was coming.
09:05I like this like a peachy orange.
09:07Okay.
09:08I would do a White House.
09:10Boring.
09:12Maybe it's finding the middle ground, whether it be a different color, trim.
09:16You know, maybe that's an idea, too.
09:18Mm-hmm.
09:19The one floor, one color, like a peach.
09:22And then, uh, the white below.
09:24That's not what she meant.
09:26So, how about we take a look inside?
09:27Today is important because we are going with the modular construction type home.
09:32Once we give them that list and it's built off-site, the change orders are nearly impossible.
09:37Makes sense.
09:38So, keep that in mind as we're walking through today.
09:40Okay.
09:41This countertop, it's got a lot of movement.
09:44I like it.
09:45Maybe we should look at other options.
09:47What do we think about the backsplash?
09:49Any thoughts there?
09:50I like them.
09:51A little bit too similar to what we had.
09:54I think I would pick something different.
09:56I have to gather as much information from both of them to pool selections.
10:00We want to do two different colors of cabinetry.
10:02So, we're thinking we want the island in another color.
10:05Do we know what color?
10:06Not peach.
10:07So that there are no surprises in a week or two.
10:09This is really kind of the open concept I feel like you were looking for, right?
10:12Yeah.
10:13Wait a minute.
10:14What's this over here?
10:15Elevator.
10:16Oh, yeah.
10:18Let's see.
10:21Do we need that?
10:22That is kind of convenient because we're going to build 10 to 12 feet.
10:25So, if you don't want to take the stairs, we might need that.
10:28We didn't figure that in the budget, did we?
10:31Certainly, we would be nice for a two-story house.
10:36Okay.
10:37Just wondering, is it a necessity?
10:39It might be closer to a necessity.
10:43Okay.
10:44Than a convenience.
10:45So, for when you get a little older.
10:48Groceries, whatever you want to carry upstairs.
10:51That is a really high-priced item, you know, $20,000, $25,000 maybe.
10:56So, I mean, are you comfortable with that?
10:59Are you comfortable?
11:00Yeah.
11:01Well, I got a feeling we'll have to be comfortable with that.
11:04And we'll work it out.
11:06Okay.
11:07So, elevator it is.
11:09That's a cost down the road that's going to be negligible.
11:14It'll be absorbed in appreciation.
11:16It's not something that I think we'd have to worry about in the long run.
11:19I'm glad that we saw this because if you would have said something about the elevator after we started the build,
11:24that could have been a little bit messy.
11:26Mm-hmm.
11:27I get it.
11:28I think we should take a ride.
11:29Anyone try it?
11:30You want to try it out?
11:31Sure.
11:32Let's just be 100% sure.
11:33All right.
11:34Let's go.
11:35How cool is this?
11:36Woo-hoo!
11:37Quite the adventure, I say.
11:39Oh, it's dark.
11:41Why the is the light not turning on?
11:52All right.
11:53After doing the inspiration tours, I'm hoping that you feel a little bit of reassurance about this new innovative way to build a house.
11:59Are you ready to see what we came up with?
12:01Yes.
12:02Yes.
12:03The outside elevation is going to be a little bit different than the previous home because guess what?
12:08We are going to be elevated 12 feet in the air.
12:10And I think one of the biggest things is having that area underneath for the garage space and storage was really, really important.
12:17Yes.
12:18That's key to him.
12:19Something we lived without.
12:20Yes.
12:21You've got the symmetry because you've got the garages on each side of the entry.
12:24We add the lap siding, you have the metal roof, so it really has a coastal vibe.
12:29Are you all ready to walk into this front door?
12:31Or wait a minute now.
12:32Should we take the elevator or the stairs?
12:33We can take the elevator up.
12:34I'm stairs, he's elevators.
12:35Oh.
12:36Oh.
12:37All right, well guess what?
12:38Y'all can meet in the entryway of the home.
12:40You have kind of a little foyer area where the elevator will drop you off.
12:45Because you're elevated, you're going to walk in and you're going to see the water views right away.
12:49Nice.
12:50And it was really important for you to keep open concept.
12:53So the center of the home really is still going to be that kitchen, the dining, and the living room.
12:58Because that's where all the family's going to be hanging out.
13:00On the left, you're going to have two bedrooms that'll share a bathroom.
13:04On the right hand side of the house, we gave you a really nice guest suite that is going to have an en suite.
13:09And then your room is tucked all the way in the back.
13:12Your spa is attached right to your primary suite.
13:15So you've got the soaking tub, the walk-in shower, the walk-in closet.
13:19Nice.
13:20One of the biggest things you fell in love with was the view.
13:22So we definitely wanted to add a back porch that expands the full length of the back of the house.
13:28Oh, nice.
13:29So you can actually kind of see the three different modules that are going to come together to form your dream home.
13:36So it's going to come in pieces, but it's going to be complete once we're done.
13:39I'm convinced.
13:40That's right again.
13:41I'm excited.
13:42Oh, okay.
13:43I like that.
13:44This is a great efficient floor plan where it's giving you the four bedrooms.
13:48You've got three and a half bathrooms now, and we're right around that 2,500 square feet.
13:52And we're going to keep in your budget of $1.3 million as long as you don't make any more changes or add a his and hers elevator.
13:59We cannot wait to get you back into your dream home.
14:02I have a feeling that your family is going to have extended vacations now after this is built.
14:07I hope so.
14:08So this might be the most unique groundbreaking day we've ever done.
14:23Because we're breaking ground in 30 different places.
14:27First, we are pre-drilling the holes and we are pounding these pilings 30 feet down into the earth.
14:33This is all pressure treated pine.
14:36That hammer is 3,000 pounds of force driving these pilings deep down into the earth.
14:43So pilings are basically normal footers on steroids.
14:47They are going to anchor this house to the ground.
14:50That way when the next big storm comes, this house isn't going anywhere.
14:54Something's wrong here.
15:07What in the...
15:10That's a problem.
15:15Mike, come here.
15:17I've got to show you something.
15:19Why are you spray painting the spa?
15:22That's where the piling is supposed to go.
15:26We're right in line here.
15:28Are you sure?
15:30I checked it like four times.
15:31Look, we're in line here.
15:33Yeah.
15:34In line with this row.
15:35It's directly where the hot tub is.
15:37I don't know if, you know, the site crew thought we were demoing all this.
15:41Yeah.
15:42Can't move the hot tub and we can't move the house.
15:43Time to get the engineers on the phone?
15:49It's not like there's a lot of options here.
15:51We can't move the hot tub and we can't move the house.
15:53You want to make a call?
15:54I'll make the call to the engineers.
15:56You know, first I had a pounding headache from all the noise that comes from driving these pilings in place.
16:01Now I have a pounding headache from this piling being out of place.
16:07I've got some good news.
16:08What'd they say?
16:09I do have some good news.
16:10So we're going to move it a couple feet.
16:12There's going to be enough structural strength there on the foundation.
16:14Nice.
16:15But what we're going to do above that when we're building the elevation above it,
16:19that we're just going to reinforce that framing.
16:21Some different ways to strap it and tie it all together.
16:23So it's still going to be strong and safe.
16:24Absolutely.
16:25But they can still use the hot tub.
16:26Absolutely.
16:27Hot tub is safe.
16:28Thank goodness.
16:29And the helm is still going to be strong.
16:30Crisis averted on day one.
16:32Crisis averted.
16:34Awesome.
16:51This is where it all happens.
16:53When we took a field trip to Georgia for a few days,
16:56we get to see the first module of our client's house get started today.
16:59All these stations are lined up.
17:01Step one through all the way to the finish line.
17:03So rather than all the subs coming to the house,
17:05you basically bring the house to the subs.
17:07That's true.
17:08Right?
17:09I love it.
17:10This assembly line has 17 different stations.
17:12And from A to Z, you can build a house in about a month.
17:16Like, you can work even though it's raining outside.
17:18And none of these materials will ever get wet.
17:21Hey, well, let's start at station number one.
17:23All right.
17:24So basically all your floor joists, everything here.
17:26And then it just kind of works its way down, which I think is so cool.
17:29This is a header over one of the door frames.
17:32Mika.
17:33Yeah.
17:34I think you should get the nail gun on, right?
17:36Uh-oh, uh-oh.
17:37Come on.
17:38You got it.
17:39You never let me use power tools.
17:40You got this.
17:41All right.
17:42Oh, the uh-oh.
17:44Wow.
17:45Yeah!
17:46And just like that, we're already putting drywall on the walls.
17:55So typically we do not use epoxy when we're drywalling, but we have to make it extra strong in this case because it's going to take a 250-mile journey home.
18:04I cannot believe how fast this is going.
18:07It's time to move this piece to the next station.
18:09Oh, nice.
18:10We got to stand up the walls, bring them down, and then attach the walls to the flooring system.
18:15And everything is hurricane-strapped to the foundation.
18:18I love it.
18:19Next station.
18:20They're putting out about eight houses a month.
18:23Man, that's pretty amazing.
18:25Look at this.
18:26Oh, that does all the heavy lifting.
18:28We're not messing around.
18:33All right, bring the next wall in.
18:34This is probably the most efficient job site I have ever been on.
18:39All right, we're lined up.
18:40Hoister up.
18:41Hoister up.
18:42It's just so different from anything we've ever done before.
18:44The electricians are in there, the plumbers are working, the HVAC's getting installed.
18:49And just like that, we are under roof.
18:52Under roof.
18:56Oh, time to get this train moving again.
19:01I mean, we are accomplishing, like, five different things at the same time.
19:05Typically, we put the trusses in place, and then add the drywall on the underside.
19:11But in this case, the drywall's already down, and we're adding trusses on top.
19:15So we just have to kind of think backwards to keep moving forward.
19:19While I'm here on site, Mika's with Mary, Alice, and Patrick, hopefully knocking out their design decisions.
19:25I know for a fact everything here is in stock.
19:30Okay.
19:31We have to make some decisions pretty quickly because these interior finishes will be in the house before it arrives to Florida.
19:37So I think we should start with the kitchen space.
19:40What are your thoughts on some of these cabinet samples?
19:43Pick what speaks to you, what you're going to be happy with.
19:46We're going to make this house have your personality.
19:48Okay.
19:49So what do you think about if we did the island in the wood and, like, these for the cabinets?
19:56I think that's going to make the island kind of feel like a custom piece of furniture.
19:59It's different.
20:00What do you think?
20:01Do you like that combo?
20:03Yeah, I like it.
20:04We should talk about bathrooms.
20:06I've got some different tiles here that speak to that coastal vibe.
20:09I like the color and I like the texture.
20:11I like that it looks like ladies.
20:12It is like a little bit close.
20:14Okay.
20:15So this might look really good.
20:17Is your raw tiles in the shower?
20:19I like that idea.
20:20So Patrick, what do you think?
20:22I like these three.
20:24Ooh.
20:25Okay.
20:26Wait a minute.
20:27Okay.
20:28Now it's your turn.
20:29I like this better than that.
20:31Man, I like this.
20:34I think this would be nice in the primary and this and all the other bathrooms.
20:40Awesome.
20:41Love it.
20:42I like that.
20:43I'm placing these orders.
20:44Okay.
20:45You feel good about it?
20:46Yeah.
20:47I mean, it's overwhelming, but good.
20:55Time to make a garage.
20:58Not only do we have 30 foot pilings deep into the ground, we also have 12 foot solid concrete
21:04cinder block walls.
21:05The next time a hurricane comes through here, it can huff and puff, but it will not blow
21:10this house down.
21:17You know, this feels like a traditional block build that we're used to, but instead of putting
21:21trusses up here, we're putting an entire house.
21:28You got to keep your head in a swivel here, Meek.
21:29Hey, you definitely do.
21:30Lot of stuff going on.
21:31Yeah.
21:32It's so crazy to me that we're looking at these as individual modules, but once we get
21:49these on site-
21:50All together.
21:51And it all comes together, it's going to look like one unified house.
21:54All right, so this portion of the house is Mary, Alice, and Patrick's main bedroom, and
21:58that's their main bathroom right there.
21:59I love it.
22:00And then two stations down the track, they're actually doing cabinets today.
22:04The kitchen is kind of the heart of the home.
22:06We got to make sure it's-
22:07Jump aboard the train, and let's go down the track, Meek.
22:08Come on.
22:09Ah, yeah.
22:10Okay, let's go.
22:12Oh, jeez.
22:13Okay.
22:14I give you the dream kitchen.
22:16This is a nice-sized space.
22:18Right?
22:19I also know all of our other tiles have been delivered.
22:22I'm going to go check out everything from flooring to tile, and then you can finish up here.
22:26When you come back, this kitchen will be done.
22:27Oh, I like that.
22:28Music to my ears.
22:29You notice how I give you the heavy one?
22:36Let me see.
22:37This should be our bathroom tile.
22:40Let's check it out.
22:42Oh, whoa.
22:43Hold on a second.
22:44So now we just need the uppers over where the fridge is going to be.
22:48No.
22:49That one I didn't have on my pallet.
22:51Let's go search.
22:52Yikes.
22:53Wrong color.
22:54Wrong size.
22:55This might be it.
22:58Wrong color.
22:59Oh.
23:01What?
23:04Oh, no.
23:06That's pretty beat up.
23:07Let's see what we got going on here.
23:09Oh, no.
23:11Yikes.
23:12You see any gray upper cabinets?
23:15No?
23:16Damn.
23:18No.
23:19This is not good.
23:20I have to let Brian know.
23:22Is that a cabinet order?
23:25Ooh, ooh.
23:26We might have it.
23:27Those are cabinets?
23:28Which module is this going for?
23:31Oh.
23:32Is this going to this one?
23:33I'm missing gray uppers.
23:38Nope.
23:39Dang.
23:41Wrong number.
23:43Hey, Brian.
23:44Oh, man.
23:45All right.
23:46Here's the guest bathroom.
23:47And this is just one box out of three.
23:49We ordered 10% more.
23:50Every single box has tiles that are making that sound.
23:53Oh, shoot.
23:54I hope that 10% covers us because we really don't have time to reorder.
23:59Tomorrow we're starting tile.
24:01I'm just hoping that we can finish tile.
24:03I really hope we have enough.
24:04Me too.
24:05Because I've had enough.
24:06Yeah, me too.
24:08How's the kitchen coming along?
24:11Oh, boy.
24:12I wish we would have ordered 10% more kitchen cabinets.
24:17What do you mean?
24:19Let me show you.
24:20Oh, okay.
24:22What?
24:23Everything up to this point has been moving down the track perfectly.
24:27Yes.
24:28But today is kind of a train wreck.
24:31Okay.
24:32We both just exhaled at the exact same time.
24:34That's weird.
24:35Here's the thing.
24:36That would look weird.
24:37It's going to take a couple weeks to get new cabinets to show up here in Georgia.
24:40My plan is to keep the progress going, ship the new uppers down to Florida, and install them on site.
24:46It could be worse, and it's still manageable to still get Mary Alice and Patrick home on times.
24:51Are you crying or sweating?
24:52No, it's sweat, but pretty soon it might turn into a tear.
24:59We made it to the end of the line.
25:01Almost.
25:02Oh, my gosh.
25:03All right.
25:04Station number 17.
25:05This is the last station.
25:07All right.
25:08Countertops are going in.
25:09Woo!
25:11Yes.
25:12Those are awesome.
25:13Tiles going in, and I'm really hoping we have enough.
25:17All I found was 10 good boxes, so that's all we got to do all three of those walls.
25:21Please don't drop any tile during the install.
25:23All right.
25:24Our fate is in your hands, Eric.
25:25Hey, we got to do the kitchen countertop next.
25:28Why does your side look lighter than my side?
25:30Whoa.
25:31Watch your step.
25:32Watch your step.
25:33Almost there.
25:34Yep.
25:35You got it.
25:36You got it.
25:37Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
25:38Okay.
25:39Wow.
25:40It looks so pretty.
25:41There you go.
25:42Now it feels like a kitchen.
25:43Hey!
25:44I really want to check on the progress of the bathroom.
25:47Are we good?
25:49We're good.
25:51Our prayers were answered.
25:53I am really happy.
25:54Tiles getting finished.
25:55It's almost time for our first module to get wheels on it and hit the road.
26:00Here it goes.
26:01These things have to make quite the journey down to Florida.
26:04250 miles.
26:05There's still going to be nerves until we see everything in place in Indian Rocks.
26:10Oh, my God.
26:13Woo-hoo!
26:14Please be safe.
26:15Drive slow.
26:26Holy moly.
26:27There she is.
26:29It made the journey from Georgia.
26:31Intact and looking good.
26:33So it's made it 250 miles.
26:36Now it just has to make it the last 250 feet.
26:38I am nervous.
26:40We're about to lift this over the power lines and place this on that beautiful elevated foundation.
26:44So put your seat belts on.
26:47Hey, the power company shut down all the lines.
26:50They only gave us four hours.
26:52That's all we have.
26:53That's our time frame.
26:54All right.
26:55We got to move quick because I know that people are going to get antsy.
26:58So let's do it.
26:59All right.
27:00Let's raise it up.
27:01Oh, my gosh.
27:02I was already sweating because it's hot outside, but now my hands are sweating because I am so nervous.
27:11We officially have liftoff.
27:14Oh, my God.
27:15Hey, that doesn't even look real.
27:17Look how close we are to those lines.
27:19That's insane.
27:21Oh, my gosh.
27:22Wow.
27:23Wow.
27:24Wow.
27:25Wow.
27:26I got it.
27:30We are like an eighth of an inch off.
27:32So we're going to bring it up and try to shift the whole thing.
27:35It's moving.
27:36Did we get enough?
27:38It moved about that much.
27:40Is that good?
27:41Yeah.
27:42Yeah.
27:43Yeah.
27:44Yeah.
27:45Well, the first one's in place.
27:46Yes.
27:47And the time is ticking.
27:48Yeah, it is.
27:49On the electric company.
27:50Woo.
27:51Let's bring number two down.
27:57First, let's get it over the power lines.
27:59Then we'll worry about turning it.
28:00All right, home.
28:01Come to your new home.
28:02Let's go.
28:03Right this way.
28:11Oh!
28:12What was that?
28:15Right this way.
28:21What was that?
28:22Oh!
28:23I think we got to bring this one back down.
28:25Something popped.
28:26Hey, what the hell was that?
28:28I heard something pop.
28:30You know what it was?
28:31The connector that they put it through.
28:33Yeah.
28:34Broke through the board and ripped off the nails.
28:36The straps.
28:37Yeah.
28:38Yeah.
28:39Whew.
28:40That thing was loud.
28:41Luckily, the house was not damaged.
28:42What's going on?
28:43So module number two is actually longer, meaning it's heavier.
28:46So we had to distribute the weight evenly in two different places instead of one.
28:51Okay.
28:52But I'm more worried about us running out of time.
28:54We got to roll.
28:55Yeah.
28:56Take two on module number two.
29:02Oh, God.
29:03Oh, my God.
29:04I heard.
29:08This is surreal.
29:09And we started at 8 o'clock this morning.
29:11It's 11.23.
29:13So we have 37 minutes to get both these in place.
29:19I wanted to come right up to this current one, but not hit it.
29:22Yeah, we're hitting now.
29:23We're touching.
29:28Hot.
29:29We're there.
29:30Like a glove.
29:32Ready for number three.
29:34All right.
29:35That's our final piece.
29:36So they were supposed to turn power back on at noon.
29:39Hopefully we can get this up in the next 10 minutes before they show up.
29:47Bring her home.
29:48I'm going to feel so much better once this third piece is safe and sound.
29:56Dang.
29:58We almost have the landing.
30:02Whoo.
30:03Check it out.
30:04Just like that, I'm inside their dream kitchen.
30:07Let's turn the power back on.
30:18I cannot believe Jade is in driver's ed.
30:21It feels like I was just teaching you how to ride your bike.
30:23And I'm excited.
30:24It just, like, has hit me that you are getting close to being an adult.
30:29Just, I'm just going to put this out here.
30:31I will drive you anywhere and everywhere you have to go for the rest of your life.
30:34That's good to know.
30:36You know, for gas reasons, yeah.
30:38Oh, she's so smart.
30:39All right, buddy.
30:40All right.
30:41Hey, we'll see you in a couple hours.
30:42Bye.
30:44I can't.
30:47All right.
30:48While she's doing that, we really got to start brainstorming, like, her special project.
30:51What if we created, like, either a lounge, just something kind of cool that can give them, like, that vibe.
30:57Like, an extra amenity they don't have yet.
30:59I like it.
31:00I like it.
31:01It's got to look coastal because it's a very coastal street.
31:04I'm not mad at that.
31:05It's covered, for sure, because it's too hot and they need some shade.
31:08I will say I've been working there quite a bit lately, and every time I take a break with
31:12the guys, we always go to that back left corner by the pool.
31:17Right now, there's nothing there?
31:18There's nothing there.
31:19It's just, it's just like pavers.
31:20Mmm.
31:21So that might be a good spot for it.
31:23This is going to be a really cool idea.
31:24I love it.
31:25All right, Dad.
31:26Sorry, but the elevator's not quite done yet.
31:27We have two stairs.
31:28That's good.
31:29That's good.
31:30So what's the plan?
31:31Well, the elevator's not the only thing that's not done.
31:32Uh-oh.
31:33I'm going through my checklist right now of all the things happening today.
31:47We've got drywall going on, lighting, flooring, painting.
31:51The metal roof is starting to go up.
31:53Pavers, doors, outdoor entertainment area.
31:57Find missing cabinet and install.
31:59It's the one that goes right over the fridge right here.
32:02It was supposed to be installed at the build center in Georgia.
32:05I have no idea where it is.
32:07I just tracked it and it said it's here.
32:09Whistle if you find it.
32:10I don't know if you can be able to hear a whistle in here.
32:14You guys seen a box in here with a missing cabinet?
32:18It's not in there.
32:21This is frustrating.
32:22I know it said it was delivered.
32:24This could be it.
32:26Brian!
32:29I got the door price.
32:30Is this it?
32:31That is the door price.
32:32Hey, so we have to get that assembled and installed today.
32:36Oh, no problem.
32:37The old man came through.
32:39Mary Alice and Patrick are coming home in like three days,
32:42and we have about nine days of work left.
32:45Now that this is done, we have about 500 other things to get done today.
32:49The outdoor entertainment area.
32:51I was going to say, do you want to help?
32:52But you rode with me, so you got no choice.
32:54Exactly.
33:02There's the quads.
33:07The day just started.
33:08Feel the burn.
33:09Okay, I'm trying to see where I'm going.
33:10This is going to be an uphill battle to finish this house, and I'm not just talking about the two flights of stairs.
33:16It's not only scary because I'm afraid of heights, but we've got the roofers finishing up.
33:20The elevator is being installed.
33:22We've got people painting.
33:23Garage doors are about to get painted.
33:25Garage doors.
33:26Landscaping's got to happen.
33:28Railing's got to happen.
33:29It's chaotic when you have so many crews here.
33:33We're used to working with more than one sub, but right now it's nuts.
33:36This goes in the bedroom, right?
33:37Yeah, let's do that in there.
33:40Oh.
33:41Okay, not yet.
33:43We're still painting in here?
33:44Un momento.
33:45Un momento.
33:46I'll be back.
33:47I hate to admit this, but I feel like we may have gotten overconfident because most of this house was built off-site in Georgia, and we might have procrastinated a little bit.
33:56There you are.
33:57I was looking everywhere for you.
33:59What?
34:00Still not quite done yet.
34:03My dad and I started this the other day, and I honestly forgot that we didn't even finish this yet.
34:08This is their special project, though.
34:10I'm getting overwhelmed.
34:11Yeah, it's...
34:12And I usually don't get that way, but I'm looking around.
34:14I don't see this happening.
34:16I do.
34:17I see a lot of people working hard, so let's join the crew.
34:19Oh, watch out, watch out, watch out, watch out, watch out!
34:21Oh!
34:22That could have been so scary.
34:23Whoa!
34:24And let's be honest.
34:25We have never built a house like this, so there is a bit of a learning curve.
34:29We're learning as we go along.
34:31Whoa, that's scary.
34:32And right now, I feel like we might be failing.
34:35I just heard from the landscapers.
34:36They're on their way, so we have to get all of this out of the way.
34:40Oh, no, no, no, because this cannot get dirty.
34:43Everybody, construction, production, if you're here today, you're doing some work.
34:50We've got our dining room.
34:51Those chairs are for there.
34:52That's going to go over there.
34:53There you go.
34:54Okay, wait.
34:55I'm coming.
34:56That's in the other room.
34:57That's the guest room.
34:58Where am I supposed to put all this stuff?
35:00Oh, my goodness.
35:01Uh...
35:02We're bringing up all of the patio furniture.
35:04Well, you can't put it out here right now.
35:07I think we just need to tuck it over here in the corner.
35:09I'm just...
35:10Hey, I'm telling you.
35:11We're not ready.
35:12We're not ready for furniture.
35:13You are not being a team player right now.
35:17I'm just...
35:18Hey, I'm telling you.
35:19We're not ready.
35:20We're not ready for furniture.
35:21All right.
35:22Well, that furniture is not ready to be outside, but we can just put it in here.
35:26I don't feel like unloading all this stuff, moving it, and then moving it again.
35:29We have to make sure that when we're around the crew, we're that driving force to get this done.
35:33We got this.
35:34Hey, we are the team captains.
35:35We need, like, a theme song, to be honest.
35:36Let's do this.
35:37You are not being a team player right now.
35:39Like, you gotta just...
35:40We're gonna get it done.
35:41We're gonna get it done.
35:42We can't forget the fact that we are approaching the one-year anniversary...
35:46Wow.
35:47...of Hurricane Helene.
35:48And this new type of construction will help a lot of families in this area that are still waiting to move back home.
35:54Oh, railings are here.
35:56I'm feeling a little bit better now.
35:58Mika's positivity is rubbing off on me.
36:00It's gonna be a long night and probably early morning.
36:04What you serving today?
36:13A dream home.
36:15I'm feeling a lot better today than I was yesterday.
36:19I can't believe we got here.
36:20I really can't.
36:21It's amazing.
36:22We finished this house technically this morning.
36:25It was past midnight when we were officially done.
36:28Kudos to our team and our crew.
36:30Couldn't have done it without them.
36:32We have a ton of pressure with this house.
36:35I mean, Mary Alice and Patrick, they were skeptical from the beginning about this build process.
36:39And now it's like Judgment Day.
36:41We're getting close, Mary Alice. Are you excited?
36:43I just caught myself holding my breath.
36:45It's been a year since our family's been here.
36:48It's hard.
36:50Right.
36:51Okay, it's showtime.
36:53Oh, more stairs?
36:54When can I take the elevator?
36:55Not before they do.
36:56Oh, here they come!
36:58There they are!
36:59Oh, my gosh.
37:00That looks amazing.
37:01Yeah, that's beautiful.

37:11Oh, she's running!
37:12Hi!
37:13Hi, hi.
37:14I know you're ready to be back.
37:15Welcome back home.
37:16All right, so I'm glad you didn't drive by, because I feel like this looks a little different
37:20than the first time we met you here.
37:21Huge difference.
37:22Yeah.
37:23It's awesome.
37:24Can you believe that this is actually three separate pieces that came together?
37:28You can't tell.
37:29No way to tell it.
37:30It's really hard to believe.
37:31Yeah.
37:32I think you'll be put at ease next hurricane season knowing that you're going to be safe
37:35in this one.
37:36Oh, elevated for sure.
37:37Yeah.
37:38Happy days are here again.
37:39Yeah.
37:40I think it's time to make brand new memories.
37:41Let's go.
37:42Quit talking and go.
37:43Yep, all right.
37:44I hear you loud and clear.
37:45We're going to take the stairs.
37:46You're going to get the inaugural ride of the elevator.
37:49Can I at least ride the elevator back down?
37:50Well, we'll think about it.
37:51All right.
37:52Hey, we'll meet you upstairs.
37:53All right.
37:54Let's go.
37:55See you there.
37:56Come on.
37:57Come on, Brian.
37:58You can do it.
37:59I'm coming.
38:00I can barely feel my legs anymore.
38:01Come on.
38:02Come on.
38:03You got it.
38:04All right.
38:05Ah!
38:06Try to get used to this.
38:07It's really big.
38:08Like the wood.
38:09It's very nice.
38:10Very happy we did this.
38:12That's the last trip up those steps.
38:14Did we beat them?
38:15I think so.
38:16This is a big moment for them.
38:18Oh, I just heard the elevator.
38:20Hey!
38:21They have arrived.
38:22How was the ride?
38:23Sweet.
38:24Short.
38:25Short.
38:26Yeah.
38:27Wow.
38:28Welcome home.
38:29Welcome back home.
38:30Love it.
38:33Yeah.
38:34Oh, thank you.
38:35Yeah.
38:36I think this is the epitome, right, of why you guys stayed on this property.
38:41Totally.
38:42You're going to case for it.
38:43Doesn't take much.
38:44Oh, I love it.
38:45Doesn't take much.
38:46So if you're impressed with this hallway, why don't you see what's down that hallway?
38:49Oh.
38:50It's beautiful.
38:52Wow.
38:53I like the backsplash.
38:54It looks so good.
38:55Lighting under the cabinets, too.
38:57I love it.
38:58How do you like that?
38:59I like this, too.
39:00I'm glad we did that.
39:01Uh-huh.
39:02Custom hood.
39:03Check out the island countertops.
39:04Mm-hmm.
39:05The colors in this are amazing.
39:06Right.
39:07Mm-hmm.
39:08We've got plenty of seating here on the island.
39:10And then check out the dining space.
39:11When the kids, grandkids are visiting, you have a lot of space in here to entertain.
39:15We didn't have all this room before.
39:17Wow.
39:18Look at the back porch.
39:19Yeah.
39:20Wow.
39:21The porch is huge.
39:22The views have gotten better, right?
39:25Oh, yeah.
39:26Sunsets are going to be right there.
39:28Beautiful.
39:29Go, Patrick.
39:30After you.
39:31Check out your new outdoor living space.
39:34Wow.
39:35It's huge.
39:36Isn't this great?
39:37This lanai is the width of the entire house.
39:38A lot of space to entertain out here.
39:40Right.
39:41Because you have this living room, dining, a little bistro set.
39:44It's pretty, pretty massive.
39:45Beautifully done.
39:46Mm-hmm.
39:47What's that going on out back there, guys?
39:49You're going to see that a little bit later.
39:51Can we see where the kids and the grandkids are going to be staying when they come visit?
39:53Sure.
39:54All right.
39:55I promise you we'll come back outside.
39:56Let's do it.
39:57All right.
40:03Real nice.
40:04So will the family approve when they come visit, you think?
40:06Oh, I think they'll be happy.
40:07Oh, yeah.
40:08They'll be very happy.
40:09Nice.
40:10All right.
40:11So this is only one of the guest bedrooms, but we do have another one just down the hall.
40:13For the grandkids.
40:15Aw.
40:16How sweet.
40:18Aw.
40:19Aw.
40:20And they have their own bathroom attached.
40:21Wow.
40:22They're going to be so spoiled.
40:23Oh, yeah.
40:24It's adorable.
40:25You want to spoil them, right?
40:26Yeah.
40:27Absolutely.
40:28Yeah, that's what grandparents are allowed to do.
40:29Love the tiles.
40:30I love the fact that you just said that.
40:31That tile gave us a headache.
40:32What about you two?
40:34I feel like we need to show you your main suite.
40:36All right, Mary Alice and Patrick, you can finally rest your head and relax.
40:41Take a sigh of relief in here.
40:42Aw.
40:43It's a king.
40:44Yeah?
40:45Look at this.
40:46For the king queen.
40:47Are you talking about him?
40:48No.
40:49Oh.
40:50You're going to be greeted by beautiful sunrise every morning.
40:54Look at this.
40:55Look at this.
40:56Yeah.
40:57That's a great spot for coffee in the morning.
40:59Yeah, it is.
41:00Absolutely.
41:01Absolutely.
41:02Well, we're not done.
41:03We have a little private spa area for you, so we'd like you to check that out too.
41:07Ooh.
41:08Wow.
41:09You can have your own sink now.
41:12Oh, look at that.
41:13With the dough.
41:14I like that you kept the same countertops as the kitchen because those are amazing.
41:17Yeah, I like it too.
41:18What do you think about the tile you selected?
41:20I love it.
41:21It's neutral and it's light.
41:23I'm very pleased.
41:24This is calm and relaxing, but the most calm and relaxing area is outside.
41:29Oh.
41:30Let's check it out.
41:31Hey, we can just go from the bedroom.
41:33All doors lead outdoors.
41:35Uh-oh.
41:36What is that?
41:38Very nice.
41:39This was kind of...
41:40This is beautiful.
41:41Yeah.
41:42You like it?
41:43Oh, I love it.
41:44Absolutely love it.
41:45It's over the top.
41:46We wanted to add something back here.
41:47You already had the pool.
41:48You already had the dock.
41:49I love it.
41:50Great spot for entertaining.
41:51Yeah.
41:52Do you like this or the elevator more?
41:56Oh, I like this.
41:57Whoa!
41:58Yes!
41:59I really do love this.
42:00This is great.
42:01Oh, man.
42:02Well, I'm glad you like it.
42:03I can't wait for the family to come down and start enjoying it.
42:05Me too.
42:06This house, you know, it's got four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms.
42:09And those three separate modules came together to form 2,500 square feet.
42:14And we kept it in your budget of 1.3 million.
42:17I know it's been kind of a stressful journey.
42:20And I think this is going to actually be inspirational to a lot of neighbors and people in this community.
42:25I think you're right.
42:26I agree.
42:27That there is still hope.
42:28Yeah.
42:29And we are rebuilding one house at a time.
42:30I love it.
42:31We appreciate it.
42:32All right.
42:33We'll let them go.
42:34Hey, enjoy.
42:35Bye, y'all.
42:37The most important thing for us is bringing our family here.
42:42It's hard to believe it's been a year since they've been here.
42:45Everybody will have their own room and we won't be on top of each other.
42:49Everything's improved.
42:51We're grateful and blessed.
