The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has revealed an upgraded version of its “Sea Baby” unmanned naval drones — the same platforms that shifted the balance in the Black Sea and successfully targeted Russian assets, including the Crimean Bridge.

The SBU officially presented the new generation of “Sea Baby” maritime drones, which have already undergone operational testing during real combat missions in the Black Sea. According to the agency, these drones were used in the third successful attack on the Crimean Bridge, which took place on June 3, 2025.

The new versions of the drones were financed through public donations collected via the national crowdfunding platform UNITED24. Brigadier General Ivan Lukashevych emphasized that the SBU is “the driving force behind a new type of naval warfare,” working to maintain Ukraine’s technological edge in the Black Sea and fulfill the mission set by President Volodymyr Zelensky — to neutralize Russia’s naval power in the region.

The SBU also confirmed that it is developing other modern weapon systems, which have already been successfully employed in naval operations, although details remain classified for security reasons.

Ukraine’s use of maritime drones has forced Russia to withdraw most of its Black Sea Fleet to the port of Novorossiysk, paving the way for the restoration of the so-called “grain corridor” — a vital route for Ukrainian agricultural exports.
