00:00This is mad!
00:02At a time where young and old have never been further apart
00:06I'm going the wrong way
00:08Six young Brits who have never travelled alone before
00:11It's nothing like Wales
00:12Are being paired up with six pensioners who thought they would never travel again
00:16You're my team mate!
00:18To embark on an epic treasure hunt across Japan
00:21Oh yes!
00:22Bloody hell, this is going to be hard
00:24In a social experiment to challenge assumptions
00:28And prove that age is just a number
00:31She's a bit too old
00:32I beg your pardon
00:33They will need to work together as one
00:36Colin, you're amazing!
00:38Their journey continued in Kyoto
00:41A place to call home
00:42Where they hunted down clues
00:44What the hell does that mean?
00:46And took on challenges to win coins
00:49We did it!
00:50While some duos have started to bridge the divide
00:53Show us your best hat walk
00:55Others still seem worlds apart
00:57Don't panic
00:58I am panicking
00:59With one team sent home from Japan
01:01It hurt a lot more than I thought it was going to
01:04The hunt for £50,000 continues in one of the most poignant cities in the world
01:09Hiroshima
01:16The first city in the world to suffer the devastating effects of an atomic bomb at the end of World War II
01:24Today it's regenerated into a thriving vibrant city
01:30Standing as a testament to the resilience of humanity and the people of Japan
01:34So, win Hiroshima
01:39Mm-hmm
01:40Full of history
01:41Was you alive when the bombing happened?
01:45I was just... I wouldn't be quite one
01:48With five teams left in the competition
01:51The pair with the lowest total of coins at the end of this city's challenge will be sent home from Japan
01:57We're all in competition
01:58Entirely so
01:59And every one of us wants to win
02:01Oh, the guide went off
02:03Take the tram to a place for peace
02:05For peace
02:06Hmm
02:07Maybe like a memorial possibly?
02:08Yes, yeah
02:09Hmm
02:10This could be a map up here on the right possibly
02:12The first couple to receive their clue are 68-year-old Rosie and 24-year-old Lawrence
02:19Need a bit of information instead
02:21They've struggled with some of the challenges
02:23But Lawrence's thirst for knowledge is beginning to bring the teammates closer together
02:28Obviously you can see here
02:2980 or 90,000 people died in the initial attack in the blast
02:33And then after that it was hundreds and hundreds of thousands
02:36So I'm learning so much from Lawrence
02:38You get about 30 facts of the day
02:41And every one is more interesting than the last one
02:45Being here has kind of opened my eyes in so many ways
02:48But also spending it with yourself too
02:50Like, I don't know, we've both had very different lives
02:52But also at the same time very similar
02:54I think this experience, as I said before, it's helped me with my confidence
02:59Yes, no, definitely likewise
03:00Because my confidence was quite low when we came
03:03And I was thinking
03:04Oh, I won't be able to do this
03:06And I won't be able to do that
03:08No, that's it
03:09And gradually I've been thinking
03:11Well, I'm keeping up with everybody
03:14I think Lawrence is an old soul in a young body
03:18Even though there was a big age difference
03:21I feel like when I tell him things
03:23He really gets me
03:25Loneliness
03:26Mm-hmm
03:27And confidence are my two biggest issues
03:29My family, I love them dearly
03:31They love me dearly
03:32But they're all very, very busy
03:33Yeah
03:34So if they say
03:35Oh, sorry, I can't do that
03:36I'll say
03:37Oh, oh, that's fine, that's fine
03:39But I'd be broken hearted inside
03:41And I wouldn't show that
03:42Yeah, absolutely
03:43The fact that it's so easy for me to speak to Lawrence about things that are quite painful for me
03:49I find quite strange because I can't speak like that to lots of people that I've known for years
03:55But do you know maybe a place for peace locally?
03:58Peace, like Peace Park?
04:00Possibly so
04:01You're going this way
04:02That's amazing, thank you so much
04:03Thank you for all the information
04:04Thank you so much
04:05Thank you so much
04:06Have a nice day, thank you so much
04:07Oh, now we've got that information
04:09That's amazing
04:10That's amazing
04:13On the other side of the city
04:1480-year-old Barbara and 21-year-old Katie have started to transcend their age gap
04:20And are forming an unlikely friendship
04:24You're looking for the home of a local spirit
04:28OK
04:29We're going to end up drinking, aren't we?
04:32What's wrong with that, Katie?
04:35Barbara, she'll care what anyone else thinks
04:38That is how I want to be when I grow up
04:42Are you good at holding up after a few?
04:45I'm not
04:46I'm not as good as you
04:47I promise you, I'll have one and that's it
04:51Oh, right
04:52Embarrassing myself
04:53No carrying you home then, Katie
04:55We did click instantly
04:58And both of us knew it, you know
05:01From the beginning
05:03I'm so lucky to have someone with me like her
05:07Oh!
05:09Oh, yes!
05:11After following their clue
05:13The duo have tracked down a traditional sake brewery
05:17Sake's the spirit then
05:19You're a spirit drinker today
05:21Yep, seems like it
05:23In a brewing masterclass
05:25They'll be taught everything there is to know about sake
05:28The Japanese tipple made by fermenting rice
05:32Anything suits you, Katie?
05:34Seriously?
05:37One, two
05:39Yeah!
05:43Barbara and Katie will need to pay attention to everything they hear
05:47And not get carried away by the taste
05:49As they'll be tested on their newfound sake knowledge later
05:52So, when we drink, we say Kanpai
05:55Kanpai
05:56Kanpai
05:57Kanpai
05:58Kanpai
05:59Kanpai
06:00Oh, Jesus Christ
06:01Oh, it's nice
06:02I like it
06:03In fact, I'll have another this week
06:05Oh!
06:06That's dangerous
06:07Yeah, it's alcohol content is about 15
06:11I'm going to be blooded
06:13Oh, my goodness, the younger generation, they're so different
06:17What was it we say?
06:18Kanpai
06:19Kanpai
06:20Kanpai
06:21Kanpai
06:22We're innocent
06:25We were, honestly
06:26We don't put sake by ourselves
06:29Some people will pour it
06:31Kanpai
06:32We want to make happiness and joy through sake
06:35Well, we're getting happier by the drink
06:38Kanpai
06:40I wish I was more like it in a way
06:42What age do people start drinking this?
06:4520 in Japan she's got no filters no that just adds to her charm
06:58have you got any ideas what you want to do in your future I did want to be a
07:04social worker because I just needed that one social worker to come into my life
07:09and change it for the better and I want to be that person for other children you
07:14tick a lot of boxes believe you me Katie I had such a bad family life so I ended up
07:21homeless God knows how many times and then I ended up dropping out of school so
07:27I've got three GCSEs maybe but I'm sure you've learned a lot from this trip alone
07:35the sights we've seen the culture we've seen that's like education isn't it
07:42bar is so full of love probably are telling me every 10 minutes like look
07:47you're stunning you take every box if you need to do this and you need to do that
07:52I think just having so much positivity around me it's definitely done me some
07:56good leave your dreams either that or going to head and shoulders modeling
08:02because you are a beauty you are a beauty you are a real love if I didn't win it I would feel that
08:12I'd let Katie down to her it's a massive amount of money it's a lot of money to me but her needs are
08:21greater than mine and I want to win badly for her because she's a bright kid really bright
08:33having deciphered their clue atomic bomb dough I think this must be our stop Lawrence and Rosie
08:41are heading towards one of the most poignant landmarks in the city Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park
08:48atomic dome site yeah wow must be this here I'm guessing
08:55at its center the children's peace monument honors the thousands of young people who were victims of the
09:01atomic bombing it's surrounded by millions of origami paper cranes paying tribute to Sadako Sasaki
09:11a 12-year-old girl who died from leukemia caused by the radiation in Japan it is said if
09:19you make 1,000 paper cranes your wish will be true so she folded more than 1,000 paper crane
09:27and shocked by her death her classmate started on a campaign to build this kind of monument
09:35it's very touching it makes you think doesn't it we receive more than 10 million paper cranes every
09:44year they're beautiful they're very beautiful I've never really had a point in my life where I thought if
09:51I could make a wish and hope for it to come true because the only thing I would wish for is to have
09:56my husband back and that's impossible having learnt about the significance of origami cranes at the
10:02Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park over there I see a pin entrance would be here then I guess the pair are about to get a
10:11master class in the art of making them origami master this cranes will be 22 steps they'll need to observe
10:21the numerous folds of paper needed to make each crane yeah honestly we have never seen you so quite
10:27I'm concentrating as they will be tested on it for their next challenge these cards are the number of
10:36steps for the animals yes this mammoth is 124 steps this is one piece of paper yes all of them for one
10:46piece wow it's so beautiful very very difficult based on their newfound knowledge the duo will need
10:58to work out how many folds of paper were used to create each of the different models 166 55
11:05this side we've got 201 328 22 every correct answer will win them a coin and better their chance of
11:17remaining in the competition 22 is the crane isn't it the highest number is going to be the beautiful
11:24dragon from penguin 55 it's quite small and this has got loads of more yeah freezes doesn't it the game is
11:36that we'll all be eliminated one by one until we have the ultimate winner four is not enough we need five
11:43we got 201 and 166 this is serious now across the water the next stage of Barbara and Katie's day-drinking
11:54treasure hunt is awaiting them on the sacred island of Miyajima it's renowned for its freely roaming deer
12:02who are considered as wild animals and cared for by local volunteers
12:06Barbara what have we got ourselves into we'll find out I love this place
12:15if it is that I don't get through the next round they can never take off what I've experienced here and
12:26the wonderful time we've had oh look at that oh lovely to keep Katie in the competition Barbara will
12:36have to face even more booze oh as the duo have tracked down their challenge location at a local liquor
12:43shop to win coins they'll need to try and remember everything they were taught earlier at the brewery as
12:53they'll be tested on their newfound sake knowledge oh can you identify which of the sake statements are
13:03true or false me and Barbara have got a lot more to learn about each of them yes a lot more adventures
13:09like we if we went home tomorrow we won't have no adventures like this today the word for cheers
13:16in Japan is the duo will need to decide if the statements are true or false by taking a sip from
13:23the glasses in front of them yes true oh if they taste sake they've chosen correctly and will win a
13:33coin the legal age for drinking alcohol is 20 is 20 years old true goodbye goodbye goodbye oh come on
13:46darling you're doing well sorry should be consumed at room temperature Katie I'm not sure I think both
13:56saying what some people have it warm mmm you think that's false then I think it's false what are you
14:05feeling not sure I just want to do well for Katie's sake really because that amount of money would change
14:18change her life what are you feeling I honestly can't remember what she said she's got a good future if
14:27she's directed on the right path in my opinion if I let her down I'd feel really sad
14:34in the historic city of Hiroshima five intergenerational teams are on a treasure hunt with a difference have you
14:53ever done like a tick-tock before no I've never done a tick-tock got to keep looking around it everything
14:59with 50,000 pounds at stake the outcome of Barbara and Katie's sake challenge high five and Rosie and
15:08Laurence's origami tusk is crucial to their fate I'm not sure that this one would be 201 steps the duo are
15:17still deciding how many folds of paper are needed to make each origami animal this one is more isn't it
15:25they've already placed the penguin with 55 folds the dragon with 328 and the crane with 22 and this
15:34is kind of almost not simple but a bit simpler within the twists and turns now they must decide
15:40whether the ram or the spider has more folds should we get one each and both lock them in at the same
15:46time yeah yeah I've got butterflies yeah literally origami butterflies inside if we do go home I would
15:56be sad for myself obviously but I would be devastated for for Lawrence because he has so much more to give
16:03this one is correct this one quick okay of course correct this one is wrong wrong the other way around
16:33so we've got three out of five yeah okay obviously we would have liked four or five we're kind of in a
16:44firing line you know absolutely just have to pray and hope that the other teams will do a lot worse than
16:49we did all we can do is hope you know back on Miyajima Island despite a strong start Barbara and Katie
16:58are still struggling to answer their third question I'm so sorry if this is wrong oh no you mustn't be
17:04you mustn't be locking in false for every true or false statement they answer correctly they will win
17:11another coin and another shot of sake high five oh you should not pour your own sake that's true
17:23are we locking it in yeah goodbye goodbye I've learned a lot about sake last one but there's a lot to
17:40remember there's a risk that we'll forget what we learned at the other part a master steak room yes it's
17:49called I told you I think that's true I am yes I am but I don't want to influence you in anyway I am happy with true
17:58thank you
18:00goodbye goodbye oh you guys we've got five we got five ah
18:09don't make us some more water there I need some more sake keep the water to yourself
18:18winning with Barbara it'd be so amazing i honestly wouldn't want to go into this
18:23with anyone else but barbara i can't believe it that we've got another five now we're on a roll
18:34how are you feeling jubilant i've got a little something whoa what is this i feel like me and
18:42barbara definitely like connected from the first moment i couldn't even possibly imagine being any
18:47closer to her oh he wants your cousin being in hiroshima with katie is a bonus oh it's all i've
18:59ever wanted it was an absolute delight to see her getting the pleasure out of it that she has honestly
19:09he was trying to eat you all my life she's just like my nun now so she knows everything i can't
19:17get much more than that look at me all over the village back on the mainland two more teams are
19:27about to embark on their treasure hunt across hiroshima today let's set the target of five
19:35one couple whose newly formed bond has seen them thrive in the competition so far
19:40are 73 year old colin and 25 year old charlotte do you think we can get five i think we need
19:46to get five the way the competition's going when i first met colin i was thinking oh no he's going
19:52to struggle with the long days and the challenges and i'm going to have to like pull him along a
19:57little bit but it's the opposite oh it's time to put your sea legs to the test take a trip to a cure
20:05is it curie but don't miss the boat don't miss the boat no we're going on a boat i've never been
20:13on a boat before have you i've been on a boat yeah have you yeah i like going on boats yeah
20:17oh you'll enjoy this then yes the boat i think me and colin are one of the most positive teams even
20:23if we're failing then we just make a joke out of it and it lightens the mood so i think that's going
20:28to take us far curie i'm sorry that's okay thank you so much okay thank you have a nice day
20:38right if they don't know then we're done for
20:43two miles away another intergenerational duo are also hunting down their challenge location
20:49head to shintaki follow the hungry crowds 71 year old val and her junior teammate 18 year old aaron
21:00oh mind yourself chick chick quite a lot of old people i've met in the past are just grumpy people or
21:10karen's but being here with val that has changed my opinion on them you don't have to stop in your
21:18fall is 50s you can still carry on and do a lot following their clue the couple are searching for
21:24their next challenge in a bustling food market i can see a mucky's right there no but aaron's distracted
21:30by an offering for lunch and so far in japan he's eaten mcdonald's up to three times a day
21:36let's try something else let's go see what we can find would you be up for that no come on
21:41no what that's chicken fried fish look here let's go in here oh come on oh my god my mission for today
21:50is to try and get aaron to have some japanese food oh yeah just four of them i'm a bit hungry oh can you
21:57actually add two hash browns you didn't get given much money in the care system 40 pound a week 40 50
22:04pound so that had to go on food and if you needed like clothes or socks or boxes like once you used all
22:11your food up you won't get any more money so we have to get the cheaper stuff what's this sausage and
22:17egg so if you don't mind me asking how did you happen to end up in care i was uh drinking then
22:26going home shouting at my mom kicking doors getting arrested um because i feel like she lied to me
22:32because of my dad obviously obviously i found out my dad weren't my real dad do you think that's what
22:37made you start to drink then and i was just angry angry towards your mom growing up um
22:49it was all right at start like i had a mom and my dad but then say about six years ago i think
22:58um i found out he weren't my real dad you don't want to hear that at a young age like he's not your
23:06dad and obviously we had a good relationship and then we just stopped speaking because i told him i
23:16think i was looking for my real dad so that didn't help to see i had that father figure for a bit and it
23:23just went i was crying a lot crying all the time and then when i was drinking it all just came out
23:30and all the violence and anger and just all came out then it was a shock yeah if you'd grown up all
23:39the time thinking you know your dad you were a part of this family and yeah i was just arguing and
23:47smashing my room up multiple times i got arrested and went to cells from there i was in care and i
23:54knew i weren't going home again oh aaron i'm really sorry to hear that you've kind of had big stuff
24:03traumatic stuff happen all together at such a young age yeah yeah i just thought about him and
24:11i thought val you want to win this because you want to be able to take your family for a reunion
24:17in jamaica but actually aaron needs to win this he needs to win it so that he can start
24:23to build his life and feel at home wherever he is
24:2620 miles away colin and charlotte have hunted down their challenge location in the line fishing
24:34port of curé smells like the sea doesn't it yes where the learning for their next task will take
24:40place out on the water what what did it say don't miss the boat don't miss them but there's
24:47boats everywhere oh there's our pain having relied on colin's experience to get them this far in the
24:53competition charlotte's seizing the opportunity to take the lead in their fishing challenge i love
25:01the bite like when i catch a salmon they just go under everything and then you pull them in and it's
25:06like is it still on is it not i love to go fishing on the weekends with my father fishing like my
25:12favorite hobby ever i just sit there eat the snacks and reel it in i love that part out of the two of us
25:18you're an expert because i don't know anything at all so i'll be learning from you today
25:27i love fishing you did that with your dad all the time do that with my father yeah are you close to
25:32your family yeah we're really really close we all chip in and kind of do the cleaning and ironing and
25:38things although i'm the main one that does the ironing the boys just leave the pile for me
25:41so if we did win what would you do with the money well first of all i'd sort my mother out i'd get
25:50her electric wheelchair so she has her own independence but try and do something like
25:55that to try and better their life to make it easier a lot of my money is to take care of my parents
26:01because they don't work um they're disabled so i want to do everything i possibly can for them
26:07why would i spend all that money on myself when i could help all of my family do you know what i mean
26:13it comes across how much you love your family and you put them first and yeah she's made sacrifices
26:21to help her parents and and for a young girl to do that i think it's absolutely amazing
26:29she's something special that girl she really is
26:31the waters around hiroshima are home to hundreds of fish species have we got a shark so the duo will
26:39need to remember as much as they can in order to succeed in their challenge
26:47red sea bream oh i love fishing but i can't touch the fish inhale touch the rod i don't go near the
26:56fish though and i net the fish so when it comes in and then i pass it straight to my father it stinks
27:02and this is a young uh yellow tail once you touch the fish you're like humming it's disgusting
27:10it's flounder the flounder has teeth okay this one is called uh rockfish rockfish yeah rockfish
27:24this one is a flat fish just a flat flat fish
27:27oh my god we're looking for shinteki shinteki back in the city center well there's shinteki after a pit
27:39stop for lunch val and aaron have finally tracked down the location for their next challenge look what
27:44i can see a street food market which specializes in a local delicacy we better not be eating okonomiyaki
27:52are savory pancakes stuffed with various ingredients ranging from meat to seafood aaron's worst nightmare
28:02it's no mcdonald's is it yeah i think it's a lot healthier than mcdonald's though
28:06i'll tell you what they put in it as well squid no no the food in japan
28:16well it's a bit interesting you know because i've not really experienced it
28:21for their challenge the pair will need to taste five different okonomiyaki dishes each with a
28:27hidden mystery ingredient based on their experience of japanese cuisine they've just
28:33got to identify what's been added to win a coin i'm not excited to try a new food because i don't like
28:39seafood and half of the food is seafood there's a lot of seafood yeah i'm just gonna have to bite
28:44my tongue and eat it look at the legs you don't like it is that a prawn it tastes like a prawn
28:55should we go for it yeah prawn the answer is prawns yeah i'm not really a seafood person but
29:05i'm never back down from a challenge like i always try and push myself
29:12what the blue hell is that i want to win that's why we're here oh no is that octopus
29:19we think we hope it's satchi is it satchi did they say the answer is
29:30iron gave it a hundred percent bless him but yeah he was trying them with a funny face
29:35oh it's this it's this me it's this is this i'm not putting that in my mouth
29:44after their morning's fishing lesson colin and charlotte are about to be tested on the different
29:49types of fish caught in hiroshima's waters oh gosh it's the names of the fish the pair will need to
29:56combine their memories to try and recall which out of the ten fish are sea bream yellowtail
30:03flatfish black rockfish and flounder oh my god it's a rank
30:09each fish they correctly identify will win them a coin and better their chance of staying in the
30:14competition the hell is that it looks like a chicken should we do the yellowtail first because
30:21i think we'll know that one do you want to do the honors that's the yellowtail isn't it
30:25well that's the yellow tail ain't it right well we're so dumb that one yeah i feel colin took the
30:35rope on this one and i kind of like sat back and watched well i put the yellowtail little sticker on
30:40the wrong one and he's like no charlotte's the one with the yellow tail so since then i was like
30:44colin just take the lead that's the rockfish okay well we know the biggest one is the flounder wait a
30:53minute no that's not the flounder but because the flounder got teeth oh well done is the teeth
30:59that's the flounder his eyes are so disgusting colin's master he's so amazing his mind is like
31:06crazy i've never met anyone like in my entire life that's a flat fish so i think it was sea bream
31:13wasn't it i think you're right i think that's a sea bream i think that's right
31:19having made their final choices fingers crossed yes yes the team are about to discover how many
31:28fish they've been able to recall yes yes yes yay our full house thank you thank you
31:39full house you can't do better than that no you can't this is tremendous we've got five coins and
31:45we've never gone past three before thank you very thank you very much we just hope like nobody's
31:51drawed like all of us draw because that would be our luck in the renowned city of hiroshima the final
32:08duo to hunt down their clue our 73 year old karaoke host julie and her junior teammate 19 year old tende
32:15peak head to naka machi and get into the groove yeah i think tende is quite a reserved chat so i would
32:27just love to see him do something where he just puts himself out there and to see him come out of his
32:32little shell a little bit oh oh oh oh oh oh groove should we go and have a look yeah having tracked down
32:40their clue to a local record shop the duo must hunt through the vinyl for their next set of instructions
32:45this is so cool while searching they'll need to keep an eye on the record labels as they'll be
32:54tested on music that's related to Japan later in their challenge do you remember like the first
33:00like piece of music that you bought I remember the first well then it was a little seven inch
33:05and I would play on my dad's grammar for you know for me like the first was a little like
33:11iPod touch from my dad and I remember he like downloaded a bunch of like Bob Marley and a lot
33:18of blues music so I think music was kind of the first time I really felt a sense of community in
33:26a way because for me it was the first time I saw people that looked similar to me was represented
33:32through music like through like music videos I was at an orphanage in Uganda when my parents decided
33:38to adopt me at six months old growing up in such a big family and being the youngest and living in
33:46like such a small village in a very white environment where there was no one that looked
33:51like me like that was very challenging I remember like holding my mom's hand and like looking at it
33:59and being like oh like why is your hand a different color to mine when I look at my family I see them
34:04as my family like I just see my mom as my mom but then when we'd walk in the street or like go
34:10somewhere like Tesco's and then people would like stare or look like who is this child to my mom
34:16so one of the biggest challenges I think was learning about race and adoption and like how
34:22I fit in like who am I away from my family and kind of like what is my identity separate from them
34:30I now sometimes try and make my own music it's like dealing with adoption I found like playing piano
34:35a really like helpful way for me to just concentrate my mind you can get lost in it can't you and you
34:41don't have to think about other things you just in the moment I'd really like to take 10 day further
34:48and I want it for him even more than me really ah you found it head to Matsubaracho find a place where
34:59you can sing like nobody is listening how so happy across the city with a life-changing 50,000 pounds
35:13on offer Aaron is holding his nerve to try and identify the key ingredient hidden in five different
35:19Okonomiyaki dishes octopus yeah Val and Aaron have so far correctly identified one out of two but have
35:28three more chances to find the hidden octopus mochi and squid the answer is octopus thank you so much I
35:37I don't like seafood so that bit was a pretty shit what we going with well I don't think it's cheese I can't think what else
35:50mochi the answer is mochi correct he doesn't like seafood love him but yeah he threw himself into the game
36:01he did there it is yeah squid I think looking squid the answer is squid thank you very good correct
36:12I don't know where it just came out of the blue I think it was a tension and Aaron had said we got to
36:31get this we got to get this right obviously means more to me than I've realized you know until this
36:36moment and I know it means a lot to Aaron as well so you know we're both invested in this because I
36:43want to stay and Aaron wants to stay that super action is that like a place hey nice on the other
36:52side of town Julian 10 day is still searching for their challenge location is there anywhere around
36:59here where we could sing English I don't know Julie is apparently karaoke queen jiving Julie yeah I guess
37:10school time's ended I don't want to jinx it but I'm hoping that is something we can both really show
37:15our personalities and bring our expertise to oh I would have not seen that the duo have finally
37:25tracked down their clue to a karaoke bar there's something about you let's keep it moving invented
37:34in Japan in the 70s karaoke is now performed in over 8,000 venues across the country including
37:41Julian 10 days challenge location being a karaoke host at my age I think that's probably the biggest
37:48surprise that makes me feel like this I don't know who you are but you must be I'm do it because I love
37:55it so much I'm called jiving Julie the teammates will now be tested on their joint knowledge of song
38:08titles over the decades with the twist that they all have a Japanese theme oh I know this do you do
38:18you know Harry Styles I know Harry Styles music for a sushi restaurant yeah
38:23one down four to go
38:35oh something of a samurai by the red hot chili peppers I don't really know that music I know them but I don't
38:45know the way this in my mind I don't know why sort of a samurai but that is just do you want to try
38:51a sword because I don't know the answer I'll be on it I don't know okay well let's just try a sword
38:57dreams
39:00I miss the Tokyo flank by manic street breaches but I've never heard of I've heard of them
39:15nothing else don't say it's mine so how have you heard of them because they're in my book oh
39:25okay I think initially when we found out the game we're really looking forward to it the fact they
39:32involved music especially karaoke because they're in Japan that really is like her expertise I feel
39:42like I'm really letting you down I feel sorry sorry it's okay so like do you think that I miss
39:48there is more like a person like I miss the Tokyo boy and Tokyo girl oh right we'll go with girl then
39:59I'm hoping that there's some musicians of my arrow or that like I actually know
40:29it's not good no it's not good having one only one coin out of three so far the outcome of Julian
40:4510 days karaoke challenge will determine their fate I feel like I guessed a lot in the last like two other
40:53ones so I'm like curious like anything that you have to say so far the duo have been relying on each
41:02other's musical expertise as back in the UK 10 days a keen musician and Julie's a karaoke host is this
41:12not harajuku girl I'm trying to run through the bits of the song harajuku girl makes the most sense
41:19because I feel like yeah that style is mainly attached to like women is it not yeah
41:24girls girls that's so annoying blank in Japan by Coldplay any ideas no I've never heard of this song
41:43surely people in your pub must like saying Coldplay I don't know the song I really don't know the song
41:51I don't know what to say 10 days is getting frustrated because I didn't know the answer and
42:00he felt I should know the answer but it's not like I can learn every single song that's in my songbook
42:05considering how many song titles you've probably read over the years that would be quite helpful I think
42:13I know there's a song called Lost in Japan but that's by Shawn Mendes I don't know if they'd share the same name
42:25there's no reason why they were not going to have two songs the same okay Lost final answer
42:32I kind of felt I was being blamed because I didn't know the song but I can only make an educated guess
42:49if it's not the right answer it's not the right answer it's unlikely that another team
42:55has only one point yeah I answered the questions which I could answer and Julie has been calling
43:07herself karaoke queen everyone has been calling her karaoke queen so I think it's obviously a bit
43:13shocking the outcome considering karaoke is her job
43:19having done everything they can all five teams have been summoned to the grounds of Hiroshima castle
43:31to find out which intergenerational duo will be leaving Japan mixed emotions I mean it could go either
43:39away from here you know very very sad if it was the end of our adventure unaware of their rivals results
43:46Rosie and Lawrence are first to arrive with three coins that's enough yeah fingers crossed followed by
43:53Colin and Charlotte with a maximum of five next to show their hand are Julie and Tende I'm a bit
44:03apprehensive going into the coin count today because we don't know what anybody else has got
44:07what with Barbara and Katie scoring another maximum of five well guys Julie and Tende's fate in Japan
44:28now all rests on Val and Aaron
44:31we're relying on you for what to not pull too much out one two that's it
44:49you know us guys for a good yeah it's a bit disappointing but I'm proud of what we did it's fine
45:03it's true I feel like I had so much left to still prove and I really gave it my everything gave it my
45:11all at the end of the day I've learned so much from her she's really changed my perception on the older
45:16generation I hope I've shown her a different side to the younger generation I'd probably learn to be
45:23around younger people I've got back my adventurous spirit a little bit I thought I'd lost it just
45:30proves to me that I'm not too old to do anything yeah that's a good thing you have you have just enjoy
45:39it embrace it embrace it yeah don't look at me it was very scary I must admit I was feeling a bit
45:47gutted for Julie and Tende oh I couldn't believe it I was really shocked we thought they were the
45:53biggest competition yeah yeah we did tough isn't it it's very tough it's getting very close but we're here to
46:00win it yeah that's all we can yeah just keep going next time look at that oh whoa the treasure hunt
46:09continues in Osaka concentrate Barbara keep calm now but as friendships grow stronger you're more than
46:15other words you for sure the challenges get tougher is that all we've got oh I'm pissed off for the four
46:22remaining couples don't say sorry you're allowed to get things wrong fighting to stay in Japan
46:52you
