07:47you when map reading when you're a little girl correct this is your task navigator and then your
07:52money mr money and their budget in cash we're gonna have to decide who's in charge of the money we can
07:57split it in case one of us gets robbed time to learn where the race will tick let's do this
08:05final destination is bahamas bahamas bahamas peninsula de la guajira never heard of it have you
08:14no i haven't gcse geography here we go yeah here we go what is a peninsula babe it's like a point you
08:22know ah you found it there you go yes hi hi hi where is it colombia colombia there it is we are gonna
08:32come around it found it found it a journey from mexico across the entirety of central america to the finish
08:40line peninsula de la guajira the northernmost point of the south american continent to get there teams
08:49must pass through five checkpoints only when they reach one will they learn where the next will be
08:55and they must do it all on a budget of just 950 pounds per person pesos and dollars the equivalent
09:03cost of flying the route that is so much less than i thought sleeping on benches here we can oh god
09:10basically we've got around 30 quid each a day that's crazy your first checkpoint is flores peten
09:19where's that not a clue we're not very good at this are we no we'll spend all day at this but let's

11:10ability there's no doubt in our minds that we're going to go and finish it we'll finish it even if
11:15we don't come first which we will dylan and i have a lot more in us we do have a fighting spirit
11:24particularly i do i've seen strong sides of my mum so i know what she's capable of
11:33doing things that scare you are so important to you as a human being
11:38to be able to have this with my sister is incredible who can i trip up first i'm going
11:44to be striding up this beach i have no doubt it's going to be the most emotional exhilarating
11:49experience as much as it scares me it excites me

13:00then is here guatemala is in guatemala over 1100 kilometers south in the republic of guatemala the
13:10first checkpoint rising from the waters of lake petan itza the colorful city of flores
13:18us built upon the last stronghold in the maya kingdom and surrounded by central america's largest
13:26tropical forest that's the ferry there that's it come on watch it watch it watch it it's all right
13:34dad don't worry come on now we need to find out where we're going yeah looks like one's just come
13:38in come on what worries me is my own lack of patience i do have a mind that is very

15:31jump in the deep end never for once in our lives have we ever been in a situation where we've never
15:35known where we're going to sleep what we're going to eat or how we're going to get there yeah so we
15:41need to get to the a of guatemala on this mountain right to reach flores teams could hug the caribbean
15:49coastline the most direct route but includes an extra country belize a former british colony
15:56where the national pride for conservation is seen in its lush jungle and ancient maya ruins
16:04or they could enter guatemala by heading west to make the most of mexico
16:09here they can save a life in the yucatan peninsula
16:13from rural ranches to well-preserved cities for more than 300 years of spanish conquest
16:19i feel like we need to experience what actual authentic mexico is this is like our chance to do
16:25what all our friends did in their gap years exactly and we never got to do it that's what we're going to
16:30dive into oh here we go classified ads to make it to the finish line teams must work to top up their
16:37budgets and have been provided with a travel guide and directory of local jobs i think we should get

17:57best way i mean we could do belize is like exotic and there's so many mayan ruins there that'd be

18:09together properly day trips yeah tended to be blackpool blackpool whitby me and my brother in
18:16the boot along with a massive picnic we can explore belize a bit yeah and get a good experience as well
18:23on the way i'm very curious and wherever i'll go that's what i'm looking forward to really seeing
18:28something new and never seen before in my life but we will have to cross the border yeah so there might
18:33be a bit of faff but it's the most direct route dad are you up for this let's go for it let's
18:39vamos me and dad want a proper adventure like you know indiana jones style or romancing the stone
18:46hola to the central bus station 10 pesos 10 pesos we're taking a risk we're going the most direct
18:53route according to the map doesn't mean it's the easiest route oh my god what did we just take out

19:29so we either stay in mexico or go through belize still debating their first move roman and harley
19:36moon i think please rapido my only worry is the border crossings that's the only thing we'd be doing
19:43two borders because they can take a long time or do we just try and find our way through mexico then
19:48go straight into guatemala from there first day is like should we go this way should we go that way
19:54how long is it going to take for us to go that way should we rock paper scissors it oh it's hard man
20:00it's so hard i just don't want to stay in cancun we can't afford it no it ain't cheap i think i think
20:06we need to get out of this bit and then figure it out yeah let's go to valadoid tonight and then the

20:24settle on a short 200 kilometer hop to via delid to keep their options of onward travel open let's

20:55to leave cancun why have we got you talking already we're just gonna track these mosquitoes
21:01i don't want me no mosquitoes i come near here i look like iron man as two more teams look to make
21:07a getaway there's a bus to chetamal i mean we could just do an overnight bus we might as well cover the
21:13distance right what sleep on the bus my gosh well we're fixed we are fixed anita and bal sees the
21:21chance to leap south straight to the city closest to the border of belize i'm not gonna sleep i'm buzzing
21:30i'll tell you a little story how's that yeah once upon a time
21:38i feel like our best option is to find somewhere to sleep and eat here and then in the morning
21:44jump on a bus to campeche isn't there a coach that goes there now no you want to do an overnight bus
21:51and day one not that i want to do an overnight bus but if we get to campeche at early hours in the
21:56morning have an amazing day and see a side of mexico that we never once imagined
22:03tyler's plan save an accommodation by traveling 490 kilometers through mexico overnight
22:10do we want to be near the toilet no think about it think about it okay no
22:16no look i hope this pays off because this could get us ahead you know it's the final minutes of our
22:24anniversary don't say i don't spoil you honestly i feel like the luckiest girl in the world right now

25:54having like a pressure on you and it's full on it's around the clock but then you come out here
25:58and it's like i haven't heard one phone go off in the time that we've been here yeah there's something
26:03really really nice about that like a space to just clear your head isn't it when i first jumped
26:10into this industry i was told to get social media like you know you need to you need to jump
26:14on this i feel like now it's just become part of the job and part of life and so we've navigated
26:20a lot of our relationship with all eyes on us there's not many times where you know we've been
26:25without social media and sharing all that stuff i feel like this is the first time i've done a job
26:30that's been considered normal what picking peppers yeah i started working when i was 11. i was gigging
26:37every weekend i was sitting my year six sats and i was on the final of britain's got talent the night
26:44before yeah i was like when i was 11 i was the shyest kid ever were you i was the shyest kid ever i used
26:52to get my homework done at school so i could run home and watch indiana jones movies i was shy yeah of
26:57course i was shy as hell such a contrast to today i guess yeah what would be so nice about the race is
27:04just have like a moment where you know you get rid of like the outside noise switch off literally
27:10disconnect yeah from our phones and just see where it takes us you missed one there babe no that was you
27:17but me it's your side all right yeah actually i missed one hey come on buddy you could take it
27:23forever man they finish already what come on buddy i know that you honeymoon though well that's work
27:31it's not a honeymoon right now let me tell you how we get so many it's incomparable at this point

28:15definitely gaining momentum but obviously it is more money but we're giving ourselves a fighting
28:20chance now aren't we exactly but as tourists pay twice the price of locals it comes at a cost of four
28:26percent of their total budget south of merida there's lots of connections here yeah for a potential
28:33route to get to guatemala and we can explore mexico more going this route their high-speed train will
28:39whisk them 300 kilometers to the colonial town of merida the cultural capital of the yucatan let's do
28:46some culture treat ourselves eating yeah hopefully some lovely food for you we need an upgrade from a
28:54hot dog yeah yeah definitely yeah i'm really excited there's good music there so that's what i'm hoping for
29:02actually if i was your age i would have been partying in thank you and places like that

33:25sticking with their tip off to cut through belize to the checkpoint means standing still in valladolid
33:31for a second night the alternative make their way through mexico via merida to the border town of
33:38tennessee cave i'm open to it i'm not saying no but to me it feels like the wrong direction
33:47shall we check if there is a bus to tennessee care
33:53i think personally we should stay here and enjoy it and make the most out of it
33:59but i know that you want to keep moving so i'm happy for whatever makes you feel happy
34:06should i go and find the price i can just look okay i just really enjoy being in the moment
34:13for me the fun of it will be making a decision wondering if it's the right decision to make
34:18mom and roman real warriors they'll think oh should we do that is that the right way and
34:27me and my dad have not even noticed that there's anything to worry about
34:38i feel like a lot of me is very anxious and that can get in the way of just enjoying the moment i want
34:44to learn how to drop that barrier sometimes that i have with life which is you know a worry
