Hawthorn are moving home from Waverley to Dingley and are taking their prized possession with them - the John Kennedy Snr statue. Video via AAP
Transcript
00:00It is an historic day as we remove and relocate the statue of John Kennedy Senior
00:05and it will go in for a little bit of restoration. The birds have had a bit of a field day on
00:11John's statue but yeah it will be refurbished a bit and then it will head across to the Kennedy
00:19Community Centre over the next few days and right now the club is in the process of moving from
00:26Bunjil Begora Waverley Park into the Kennedy Community Centre so over the course of the
00:30next week our club moves officially and formally over to the Kennedy Community Centre which we're
00:36incredibly excited about. Well if he was here today he'd be extraordinarily embarrassed I know that for a fact
00:42he'd be shy in fact it'd be very hard to actually get him to come I think he'd be sitting at home
00:47and would refuse to come on the basis that it's not about me you know but he would argue that
00:55it's probably more like a dictatorship up there and then pulling the statue down and getting
01:01rid of him would consider it he would consider that more appropriate but nonetheless he would
01:07be extremely proud of what the club's been able to achieve
