00:00hello and welcome i'm keita mohan and you're watching india today global the big story we're
00:20following is an escalation maybe between iran and israel and america a viral video of 2024
00:28it's a wedding video of a close aid to iran's supreme leader that has now sparked outrage online
00:35in iran while it was an all-women event critics say the footage exposes the regime's double standards
00:42proving that the rules are not the same for all meanwhile alicia mkhani the close aid blames
00:48israel for the leak here's a detailed report
00:50iran is fuming not over israel or war but over a wedding video that has gone viral
01:12the islamic regime led by supreme leader ayatollah ali khamenei is facing fierce backlash after a
01:26viral video surfaced from the lavish wedding of khamenei's close aid and former security chief
01:32ali khamenei's daughter the video has sparked outrage among iranians who see it as a proof of
01:40the regime's hypocrisy over strict dress and morality laws in the video sham khani's daughter
01:49fatima is seen in a strapless low-cut wedding gown escorted by her father his wife is also dressed in
01:56a blue lace evening gown without a headscarf both appearing in stark contrast to the regime's laws
02:02the video reportedly from the 2024 private ceremony has spread rapidly online fueling anger over double
02:11standards hypocrisy lies at what sham khani preaches and practices as head of iran's national security
02:24council during the 2022 women led protests he oversaw the crackdown on those defying hijab rules
02:31the same rules his own family flouted
02:34back in 2022 iranian women were beaten arrested and even killed for refusing to wear the hijab
02:51and one of them was marsh amini whose death ignited nationwide protests
02:56today many iranians say the message from the regime is clear the rules are for you not for them
03:17meanwhile sham khani posted a cryptic message on social media i'm alive the same phrase he used
03:26months earlier after surviving an israeli airstrike during the 12th day of conflict this time he hinted
03:34that israel might be behind the video leak calling it a new form of assassination by invading privacy
03:40iranian authorities routinely punish citizens for unveiled photos or mixed gender gatherings yet no
03:49action has been taken against sham khani family as dissent grows and voices of outrage rise online
03:58one question echoes across iran why are the rules not equal for all
04:03with neha khani bureau report india today
04:08my colleague and senior managing editor gaurav sawan joins me for more on this gaurav there are a lot of critics
04:18within iran questioning the administration rules different for the common man as opposed to those who belong to the
04:26elite top echelons of the country is that the case or is this a very specific leak as b as is being said
04:33by iran uh from from israeli side
04:38so rear admiral ali sham khani is one of the most powerful men in iran he is considered very close
04:45to the supreme leader ayatollah ali khamenei at one point of time he was someone who was also overseeing
04:51nuclear dialogue with the united states of america now he's also according to the western media uh
04:58running the oil black market and supplying oil uh to countries like russia and china he runs a fleet
05:05of tankers he's supremely rich he's supremely powerful so when the common iranian has trouble
05:11getting married uh when inflation is at an all-time high when money is a major crisis you look at these
05:17images that have gone viral on social media that show uh ali sham khani's daughter uh wearing the
05:24kind of dress that she's wearing uh completely at odds with the very strict morality laws and rules
05:30of iran remember for the common woman it's the hijab on the streets and in case not then ali sham khani
05:36was uh of the clearly of the view that they should be dealt with very harshly but look at the way his own
05:42daughter is dressed look at the way his wife is dressed and this led to massive criticism now ali
05:48sham khani sees this as an assassination attempt an attempt to assassinate their reputation invasion
05:56of privacy secret pictures or their internal family pictures put out in public domain uh according to him
06:03by extra or those close to him by external agencies uh you know most probably israel to to humiliate him
06:10and there are calls for his resignation so you know he's saying that this is something that a rival
06:15country has done but there are those who say he must practice what he preaches and it's time for him to
06:21either step down or face action well we'll stick to the story but there's more to what's happening in
06:27israel and let's talk about iran and the united states of america now iranian supreme leader ayatollah
06:34ali khamenei rejected an offer of renewed talks from u.s president donald trump and denied his
06:41assertion that the united states has destroyed iran's nuclear capabilities tehran and washington
06:46engaged in five rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations that ended with the 12-day air war
06:52in june in which israel and the u.s bombed iranian nuclear sites leaving the u.s iran relations strained
07:00khamenei also rejected trump's claim that usb2 bombers destroyed iran's nuclear sites
07:06khamenei's reaction comes weeks after president trump said in the israeli parliament that it would
07:13be great if washington could negotiate a peace deal with tehran following the start of a ceasefire
07:19in gaza between israel and palestinian group hamas
07:22he boasts that we bombed iran's nuclear industry and destroyed it well keep dreaming about that but
07:35what are you even doing that if a country has a nuclear industry you interfere and dictate what
07:40it should and shouldn't do what business do you have in the world what does it have to do with america
07:46whether iran has nuclear capabilities and nuclear industry or not these interferences are illegitimate
07:52improper wrong and arrogant he says i'm a deal maker i want to make a deal to make a deal with iran
07:59a deal whose outcome is predetermined through arrogance is no deal iran will not submit under
08:05the weight of imposition and pressure
08:07well gaurav coming back to you this is a very very important moment in time where there are many
08:19conversations that are happening parallelly between u.s and many countries iran seems to be the only
08:25country at this point in time that's taking on america saying dream on oh you're absolutely right
08:32you know they're standing tall and against all odds at a time when the united states of america
08:37has had five rounds of talks uh on on this nuclear issue and american president donald trump you heard
08:43it very recently he once again uh said that uh they are the ones who are ensuring that uh iran will
08:49never have the bomb and the b2 bombers which he called those big beautiful bombers uh they went in
08:54and bombed uh you know uh natanz uh and ensured uh the fordo and natanz that and ensured that iran
09:01cannot make the bomb anymore and when when he was asked that you know is it possible that iran can
09:07still make the nuclear bomb he said it's not a threat for a long long time and this is where ayatollah
09:13once again comes back and tells him dream on if you think that you've ended iran's nuclear dream
09:20you can continue to live with that dream uh indicating that's not true and iran continues to
09:26defy the united states of america and israel despite the 12-day war despite the bombing uh despite the
09:33sanctions and sanctions that have been on for so long uh there are reports that once again there
09:37were those back channel talks uh in in an attempt to wean away iran from its nuclear weapons program
09:44or a nuclear program and bring them back into the dialogue fold but very clearly iran says thank you
09:51but no thank you as of now right let let me then just circle back to the story that we just played out
09:58of that a viral video now every time there are conversations that are happening in uc washington dc
10:03making an effort you do see something that goes wrong and you see a leaks of videos that could
10:10really change the equation um is this leak uh a part of that pattern or is it not what do you think
10:20you know that's a very very interesting question that you ask uh you know these videos that have
10:25been leaked now these are videos um especially of uh you know uh the wedding are from april last year
10:33they're only becoming public now they're in public domain only now uh and alisham khani
10:39admiral alisham khani someone who has overseen those nuclear talks now was he uh being a hardliner is the
10:47attempt to get rid of him because look at the kind of voices that are now emerging uh some from within
10:51iran that say that he should step down he should step aside uh because he does not practice what he
10:58preaches the kind of uh high moral ground that he'd taken earlier and look at those lavish uh
11:03pictures of the wedding uh look at the dress that his daughter was wearing or what his wife was
11:08wearing clearly at odds with what they publicly preach uh the kind of violence that iran saw the
11:13kind of targeting of women so even internally there are calls to get rid of him uh and he says you
11:19know the kind of language that even he's used uh the b word saying i'm still around he survived the
11:24assassination attempt he's still around he's willing to fight back and strike back but is the
11:28attempt to get rid of him so that somebody more pliable somebody more convenient can be brought in
11:32uh to deal uh on on more favorable terms for the united states of america so it does remain to be seen
11:39uh the that are the games that are at play here wheels within wheels that are being pursued right now
11:45but you're absolutely right iran continues to defy despite the bombing um you know many countries
11:51would have gone down look at countries like pakistan despite having a nuclear bomb uh they
11:55folded it 88 hours when it came to india and in 15 minutes as afghanistan puts it uh the moment
12:01afghanistan was striking inside inside pakistan so that just goes on to show who has the stomach for
12:07a fight right and who doesn't right and also the big question will he survive this or have they
12:14actually done him in his very very important critical survived an assassination attempt
12:19gaurav saavan thank you so much for joining us here
12:22now after weeks of uncertainty the u.s administration has finally clarified its stand on the controversial
12:31hundred thousand dollar h1b visa fee u.s citizenship and immigration services or u.s cis has released
12:39detailed guidance explaining how the new h1b fee will be implemented the clarification outlines who must
12:46pay when it applies and the limit limited exceptions employers can see the biggest takeaway is that the
12:54hundred thousand dollar fee will not apply to change of status cases that means individuals shifting from
13:00one visa category to another without leaving the united states of america such as students moving from f1
13:07to h1b are exempt the decision brings major relief to indian students the largest group of international
13:13students in the u.s and to indian tech professionals who received nearly 70 percent of all h1b visas in the year 2024
13:22us cis also confirmed that current h1b visa holders and approved beneficiaries can continue to travel freely in and out of the u.s
13:32however the guidance makes clear if u.s cis denies an application finding the applicant ineligible for a status change
13:41or extension the employer will still be required to pay the fee the guidance further notes that employers must pay the fee
13:48if u.s cis denies an application deeming the individual ineligible for status change or extension
13:56u.s president donald trump has warned hamas of a fast furious and brutal response if it fails to do what is right
14:09as washington pushes for the next more complex stage of a gaza ceasefire that has already been repeatedly strained
14:16stepping up pressure on the hamas trump said in a social media post that several u.s allies had expressed
14:24readiness to enter gaza and strike hamas but he told them and israel and i quote not yet meanwhile
14:32according to a media report gaza's health ministry has confirmed that at least 135 mutilated bodies of
14:39palestinians were returned by israel to gaza they were held at a detention center long accused of torture
14:47and unlawful deaths a spokesperson from nasir hospital in khan yunas said the documents found inside each body bag
14:55showed the remains came from sidi teman a military base in israel's negev desert
15:02according to the officials the tags inside the body bags were written in hebrew and indicated the dna tests had been performed at the facility
15:11sidi teman the site named in the documents has previously faced allegations the facility has been accused
15:19of detaining palestinians in cages blindfolded and handcuffed shackled to hospital beds and forced to wear diapers
15:28health authorities in gaza are examining the bodies at nasser hospital as the claims add to mounting concerns over the treatment of palestinian detainees in israeli custody
15:39focusing on statecraft today we uncover china's revolutionary golden dome prototype how beijing outpaced washington creating a global missile defense network that changes the rules of warfare and leaves the world questioning who truly controls the skies
16:07the world just witnessed a reversal of power that no one saw coming for decades the united states of america imagined it would lead the planet into a new age of missile defense a space shield to guard humanity from annihilation
16:14but while washington was still drawing blueprints beijing built the dome
16:21china has fielded a working prototype of what it calls a distributed early warning detection big data
16:26project that has been created in the world and the world just witnessed a reversal of power that no one saw coming for decades the united states of america imagined it would lead the planet into a new age of missile defense a space shield to guard humanity from annihilation
16:32but while washington was still drawing blueprints beijing built the dome china has fielded a working prototype of what it calls a distributed early warning detection big data platform a real functioning global missile defense network before the u.s could even agree on a design
16:52it's it's the kind of leap that turns military theory into geopolitical shockwaves
16:57the question is has the world just entered the chinese century of missile defense hello and welcome you're watching statecraft with me geeta mohan
17:06the u.s called its dream the golden dome a planetary shield space-based and ai driven designed to detect and destroy any missile launched anywhere on earth announced by donald trump in 2025 it promised a revolution in global security
17:31global security but while the pentagon debated architectures budgets and data flows chinese engineers were busy building the people's liberation army didn't wait for permission or perfection it deployed
17:45and now with its prototype operational the unthinkable has happened the u.s has an idea but china has reality it's not one giant computer in a bunker it's a network of minds machine minds
18:00working as one surviving even if one node falls it's as if china just built the nervous system of a global defense organism and while washington's defense establishment
18:13was still debating the conceptual architecture of the golden dome china was already deploying the hardware it's not theory it's not a powerpoint presentation it's working
18:25it's working now at the core of china's leap is an idea so simple it's revolutionary physically dispersed logically unified that means the system doesn't need to rip apart or rebuild old radar stations satellites or air defense platforms
18:43it connects them harmonizes them like instruments in a digital orchestra
18:50meanwhile across the pacific the u.s golden dome remains a dream still arguing with itself cost estimates range from 175 billion dollars to trillions
19:02engineers warn that the real challenge isn't missiles but data the u.s vision remains scattered a constellation of regional defenses that
19:12that don't talk to each other the golden dome was meant to unite them to be the crown jewel of america's strategic defense
19:19instead that crown now glitters above beijing and that's the true power here integration where america compartmentalizes china synchronizes
19:31the u.s golden dome is still trapped in bureaucracy who owns the data which ally gets access what ai system is trustworthy enough
19:40each question spawns a committee each committee spawns delay beijing on the other hand skipped the debate and built the model
19:48it's not perfect even by their own admission but it works and it's improving in contrast america's version is still haunted by questions who will build it
20:00who will build it who will pay for it will it integrate allied systems will ai have access to classified military intelligence
20:07each layer of concern is another layer of delay dan knight from arc field put it bluntly the problem isn't the threat
20:16it's the flow of data if the system can't think fast enough it can't defend fast enough and right now
20:23the u.s golden dome doesn't even know how to think beijing's does or at least it's learning too
20:30in a world where milliseconds decide survival speed isn't a luxury it's destiny and china has just shown it can
20:38move faster than america's imagination even china's engineers acknowledge their prototype is incomplete it will
20:46evolve faster smarter stronger the team plans to scale it up refine it and link it to future ai driven
20:54interception systems but the point is it's real tested verified deployed the pla now has the framework
21:03for what could become the world's first truly global missile defense architecture for beijing it's not about
21:10catching up anymore it's about leading the race before the other runner finds their shoes
21:18louvre museum in paris is still closed while police investigate a brazen highest which targeted france's
21:25priceless crown jewels thieves wielding power tools broke into the world's most visited museum in broad daylight
21:32before escaping on scooters with eight extremely valuable items of jewelry a manhunt is underway in
21:40france for the four people who staged this audacious daylight robbery at louvre museum but what are the
21:47thieves likely to do with the stolen jewelry here's a report it's the heist of the century according to
21:55french newspapers on monday after four thieves stole prices jewelry in broad daylight at the louvre museum in
22:01paris right now it's a race between the police and their investigators so what are the thieves likely
22:07to do with the stolen jewelry christopher marinello is the founder of art recovery international there's no
22:13way they can just submit these things to subbies or christie's and they need to break them up and
22:19what they're going to do to hide them is uh open up the jewels and take out the diamonds and the sapphires
22:25and the emeralds and the emeralds and take them over to uh a place where they can have them recut in
22:31antwerp or in uh tel aviv and find a jeweler that won't ask any questions and once they're been cut into
22:39smaller jewels the d the deed is done it's over well we'll never see these pieces again intact the robbery
22:47which took between six and seven minutes has prompted france to re-evaluate the security of its cultural sites
22:53the thieves used a crane to break into the louvre stealing priceless objects from an area that houses the french crown jewels
23:01before fleeing on motorbikes oh it was a very well-planned theft absolutely i mean the the only clue
23:09that they left was that that should have raised a red flag was that the workers were working on the
23:14museum on a sunday in paris who nobody works on sunday in paris at 9 a.m francis justice minister
23:21girard darmanin criticized the ease with which the robbers executed the heist calling it in national
23:27embarrassment despite confidence that the robbers will be caught the incident has drawn criticism
23:33and smaller museums around the world fear copycats here is dutch art crime investigator arthur brown
23:40if the louvre can be robbed how can we protect ourselves you know and they are afraid that local
23:47thieves will think well you know they took it off with the louvre let's try our local museum so that's
23:54the biggest fear now in in the museum world meanwhile the museum which had been expected to reopen on
24:01monday remained closed clever to use a cherry picker and a glass cutter to steal priceless well sentimentally
24:10priceless jewels from the louvre the fact that it was done in daylight is also astounding but um if you
24:19if you look like you belong you belong so i guess they use that rule
