In a major address to thousands of women and girls in Tehran on Wednesday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that Islam grants women a highly respected and equal position in society, while sharply criticizing what he called the “corrupt Western culture” toward women.    Ayatollah Khamenei said the Qur’an presents women with the “highest and most progressive” identity, and cited Fatima al-Zahra (SA) — daughter of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) — as the ultimate role model. 02:24Ayatollah Hemeni sharply criticized Western and capitalist societies,

02:29accusing them of ignoring morality, weakening families, and reducing women to material objects.

02:35He argued that Islamic rules on gender interaction, dress and hijab,

02:40are meant to protect dignity and ensure a healthy society,

02:43while Western culture completely ignores the dangers of uncontrolled desires.

02:49He also highlighted the rights Islam gives women, including justice within the family,

02:54safety, respect, equal pay for equal work, special leave provisions, and insurance for working women.

03:01Ayatollah Khamenei praised Iranian women for their achievements in science, sports, education, politics,

03:09health care, and social service.

03:11He said the Islamic Republic has enabled women to excel in ways unprecedented in Iran's history.

03:18He urged Iranian media not to repeat Western ideas on women and hijab,

03:23but to promote the Islamic viewpoint, saying it can inspire women around the world.

03:32that a Muslim woman committed to hijab can succeed in every field, even more than others.
