00:00With Halloween just around the corner there's no better time to enjoy a good
00:04scare and this year horror fans can get their fix a little closer to home. Terror
00:08on Tyne is back for another year celebrating independent filmmakers from
00:12the Northeast and beyond. Organised by local horror creators and fans the
00:17festival puts the spotlight on the region's talent and passion for the
00:21genre. So Terror on Tyne is it's a horror festival for short films we didn't
00:28have anything like it in the Northeast before you'd have to go as far south as
00:32like York or up to like Edinburgh Glasgow or somewhere. We did it once before now
00:38this is the second year it's running and actually it did really well
00:41internationally we had people from Australia, New Zealand, Canada entering
00:46and again we've got from all over the world people have submitted films. It's
00:49also having a bit of global recognition for Northeast filmmakers which is really
00:53important to people who make films. I think the fact that you know when I was
01:00coming up with the title and consulted you and a few other people about that we
01:05wanted to get across that it's it's horror based and the location I think the
01:11fact that it's Northeast based is really important to me as someone who's lived
01:14here most of my life and to the people who make films in the area it was
01:21important to know it's gonna have a Northeast slant to it it's gonna feel
01:26like it's from Newcastle specifically and we're welcome we've got a best
01:32Northeast film category in it because we wanted to get Northeast filmmakers in here
01:36as much as we could do. Following the success of last year's event this year's
01:41festival will be held at the start and shadow here in Ouseburn complete with a
01:45special guest speaker who'll take part in a Q&A session with fans and help judge the
01:50award ceremony. This year we're gonna step up we've got Craig Conway who is a big
01:56name in Northeast film and TV he's appeared in big international films like
02:02The Descent, Dog Soldiers and he's done a load of other stuff so he's got you
02:08know 20-30 years of experience in the industry and I'm really looking forward to
02:12sitting down and chatting with him but also he's gonna be doing a Q&A with with
02:17the you know the people who are there as well so it'd be nice for everyone to be
02:21able to meet him and chat with him as well.
02:23And there's like I said certain set like shared sense of community I think around
02:26that with within genre fans. I think horror as well as a genre it's it's
02:31incredibly diverse as a whole you know range of sub-genres of film within within
02:35that like term and I think the genre itself also just lends itself really well
02:39to the short film format you can you know you can do like a really simple kind of
02:45show horror film like three or four minutes of just like a set up and like
02:48building up some tension and then just releasing it at the end with like a a
02:51good kind of moment and I think that's what that's what hopefully what we're
02:54looking to show at the at this festival here there should be there's a good
02:57range of different types of horror films that were shown
