00:02:52And that means it is time for our second points race of the season.

00:03:03The 16 drivers who lost in round one last week needed to race their way in,
00:03:07in order to compete in the event today.
00:03:09And the results were surprising.

00:06:06Team Murillo dropped Dominator to pick Birdman back up.
00:06:09But Dominator wasn't out long because Dave scooped him up to replace Brody Melton, who didn't make the race.

00:06:33Hey, last week, Joe did really good. He come in there. He won against Murder Nova. He won a couple rounds. He got some points from Murillo's team.

00:06:50Team Bodie made changes as well. Bodie dropped himself down to the reserves because he's having car problems and pulled up Calvin Franco.

00:07:26In round one today, we have some epic matchups.
00:07:29Robin Roberts gets a chance to avenge his captain, Ryan Martin, by racing Jerry Bird first off the trailer.
00:07:35Axeman and Rich Bruder are also lining up.
00:07:38And Kayla Morton will face Larry Larson from Team Disco to close out the first round.
00:07:43So, that concludes the pairings. So, these drivers are gonna go back into the pits, get their cars into the staging lanes, and we will be going racing here momentarily.
00:07:54All right, here we go. First pair of the first round of the Invitational Class, 40,000 to win.
00:08:05This is an easy race to get in your head, and it's an easy race to get in his head.

00:08:09He knows that she thinks you're probably about as fast as I am. He knows how close him and I were yesterday.
00:08:13Today is Saturday, Invitational Day at Brainerd International Raceway.
00:08:17I have four of my five drivers in. Unfortunately, I am the fifth driver that is not in.
00:08:21There's nothing worse than a team captain not being able to lead his team the right way, but I have the best group of guys.
00:08:27If I gotta hang on four people, I really feel like I have the best four here on the property to help us maintain those points and get us our group championship lead.
00:08:36The first round is always extremely crucial for us, but all my guys have pretty good tune-ups, ready to go.
00:08:41Robin's car's been flying. Right now, my guys are carrying me, which I appreciate. Hopefully, I can pay those guys back.

00:08:57Obviously, Jerry beat Ryan Martin. You're on Race Your Way In, so he's gotta feel the best he could possibly feel going into today, but he doesn't feel it'll be an accomplishment unless he wins the entire race.
00:09:22Like, it does you no good to beat Ryan Martin and then go out the next round or the round after that.
00:09:26That's the main goal here is points collection.
00:09:30If you can't collect points, you can't win a championship.
00:09:32And Robin Roberts makes a great pass in that left lane. Jerry Burr, unfortunately, car makes a move towards the center, has to get out of the lane.

00:10:53Last weekend, we kind of flopped first round, but hopefully today things go our way, and we start stacking some points towards our team's championship.
00:11:02So first round here at Brainerd International Raceway, we dropped Bobby Ducote.
00:11:07Bobby is just steady getting faster. He's another one of those guys who has put in the time and has a-a competable car this season.
00:11:15He's a hell of a driver, but I'm gonna try to whack his head on a tree.
00:11:19He might shock everybody and go fast as hell, but we gonna try to outrun his ass.
00:11:22We ain't here to lose. We ain't come all the way up here to lose.
00:11:24I'm gonna whoop Murder Nova's ass.
00:11:26So I think I can get down it, and if I have to, I'll drive it a little bit.
00:11:28But now with all of that, he's a crazy son of a bitch, too.
00:11:31He'll drive the hell out of it also.
00:11:32So as long as we both come back and don't trade no paint, I'm happy with it either way.

00:12:21And Tony McKinney even turned it around last week, and he was struggling.
00:12:24He went out first round.
00:12:25He won his race's way in last night, and he's going into the big show today.
00:12:28So this is a good opportunity to be able to try to make some points up on Kai Kelly.
00:12:41Hopefully all five of us can do our job, go on to the next round, and we can keep gaining points and try to close that gap up on trying to get first place.
00:12:48And Justin Swanstrom is going to get the win.
00:13:11We were able to pull off that win.
00:13:14We're on to round two. I just need my other four drivers. Go ahead and get that so they can get some points for this year moving forward and we can try to win and get that championship. Good race, man.

00:13:40I took this week in to get my right to not come out here and fail my team. The great thing about it is the strategy with these teams. I can bring somebody up.

00:13:53You know, we definitely appreciate you guys for, you know, picking us and we're going to sit here and do everything we can on our part to make sure we hold up our end of the stick.

00:16:11Coming into today's event, they were tied for fourth place with Team Ryan Martin.
00:16:16They'll need to take the advantage of every round and rack up points if they want to move up in the rankings.

00:16:36Our car is getting faster and faster, the more laps are putting on there.
00:16:39And the car is getting more consistent, which is most important, and faster every pass.
00:16:45Going into racing Rich, my whole goal is to be first off the tree and hoping I can pull it off because I know they've got a fast car.

00:19:22Chuck 55 is a top contender out here, and I picked him for that reason, and he's going to get us a lot of points at some point.

00:27:59We noticed that the blower impeller has a bunch of chunks taken out of it and a couple bent tabs.
00:28:05And the blower spins freely, so we know it didn't touch it down.
00:28:14And then researching all of this stuff, we found out what we did.
00:28:17The strap wasn't tied down properly and sucked it through the blower.
00:28:23So we're putting the new blower on it now and we'll be ready for round one.

00:30:27murder Nova will take on Giuseppe Gentile from team Ryan Martin but Manny is thrashing on
00:30:33something in the pits trying to get ready for this race what this one gets and check
00:30:41like this connector and that connector versus each other we're having an issue
00:30:46with wiring somewhere that's running the electric waste gates we got one gate working one not the
00:30:54waste gate is what controls the boost once you reach your desired it opens and then it regulates
00:30:59your boost if it opens before it should you don't ever build boost so worst case scenario I got a
00:31:07backup plan ready to I'm gonna borrow a flange and weld it shut and block the wastegate off and we're
00:31:13just gonna get all the boost but if we can make it work like it's supposed to then we're gonna try
00:31:18that first all right so it's go time we're here we did our chip draw and I drew Giuseppe it's not an
00:31:24easy draw but there's really no easy draws out here everybody's hauling ass he's been on a tear lately
00:31:30he went to the semis last week he was runner-up last night but they're all fast and you're gonna have

00:33:00for as much parts as they've dismantled throughout this whole entire team Larry Greg and Marty everybody's
00:33:06hurt so they're all working on tons of so hopefully all this broke parts is behind us and we can move
00:33:12on just keep turning on wind lights today and get some points and try to help us scoot up the ladder

00:34:27but not as fast as David Gates or Lizzie no but one little quiver he's there exactly so I'm gonna put
00:34:37a conservatively aggressive mild tune-up in it that sounds good sounds decent sounds great yeah
00:34:43around one I drew B-Ratt uh do I feel like I got a faster car than B-Ratt yes uh on a hot greasy
00:34:50track in the round one B-Ratt's probably one of the worst people to draw because he is consistently
00:34:54gonna go down that racetrack and if you slip shake move over a little bit anything sleep on a
00:35:01tree B-Ratt's gonna beat you well man I think we're gonna be all right I think we'll be just fine
00:35:06hopefully you'll just be conservative enough to win then you have some data to skip on it yep
00:35:12my Invitational round one we drew Kai Kelly it's an okay draw he's not as fast as some of the other
00:35:19guys yet but he's getting there but we're not all the way there yet either
00:35:23we're making baby steps because we turn our own cars I can't take big leaps because I'm learning

00:35:35a little bit better than last week we had all five in last week and after first round none of us

00:36:13some problems again his car's shaking a lot and uh B-Rad does what B-Rad does you know he made a clean
00:36:19pass he just fell short of Kai you know Kai's car's hauling ass right now and uh and right now he's the
00:36:26guy to beat it is what it is we got two cars in and the more points that we can get the better
