00:01:26i'm 61 years old but i don't normally tell people that honestly i never thought i'd be here

00:01:36i'm australian canadian i've been living here for well over 20 years now they definitely call

00:01:44australia home i would describe myself as a father a family man have three boys and at this age i still

00:01:53have so much love to give and so much adventure to share with somebody it wasn't always a smooth

00:01:59journey though there was a time when i didn't sail solo

00:02:08i met audrey the love of my life in 1988 in calgary canada from the moment i saw her i knew she was the

00:02:18one and we just hit it off from then we got married she gave me three beautiful boys

00:02:25one day she came home with a headache we thought it was just a severe migraine she went to the doctors

00:02:46and um next thing i knew she was being rushed into emergency surgery it was a brain tumor

00:02:54this is a place where i don't feel i heard this bang on the floor running to tell daddy and she came out

00:03:04walk her up so that was the start of her cancer it was just unfathomable big family kiss and go

00:03:12and where's my butterfly kiss she had four major surgeries the fourth surgery she never came home

00:03:31you love chocolate don't you the boys were asking me where mommy was and

00:03:35i just said mommy's gone to sleep and mommy's like coming back

00:03:49audrey was more than one in a million she was one in six billion

00:03:54it's been 14 years since her passing i know deep down no one can replace her but with the boys love

00:04:08and support i know i can possibly find love again you gave up everything for us like everything

00:04:16to make sure we had like a good upbringing good childhood you guys were my driving force

00:04:21kept me going you've got my support 100 thank you love you dad i love you too

00:04:30my passion has definitely been my voice watching them grow watching them strive for the best they can

00:04:36be and trying to guide them as well as i can and hopefully i'm doing a good job of it how do you feel

00:04:44about your grown sons watching you kiss women on tv the whole country watching me kiss on tv how do you

00:04:51feel about that how would you feel about it i'd hope i was a good enough kisser so people wouldn't judge me

00:51:24going on because the way i came down holding his hand people were then focused on me which was really

00:51:40this beautiful blonde her eyes and i'm looking wow she's stunning sorry i'm late and she gets close

00:51:47and i'm like i think i know you kimmy oh my god kimmy's my bestie dr kim from brisbane

00:51:54she has a wonderful heart she's sophisticated she's smart she's good looking do you two really

00:52:07know each other we really know each other for 20 years i think the dynamics have just changed and

00:52:13the level has just risen the bar has risen now but kim has arrived we have serious competition

00:52:20i've got my runners on that's my thing did you read that one i wore them on the red carpet oh my kids

00:52:31will hate me saying this but they're so comfortable for my bunions they really are

00:52:40conversations with these women have been fabulous because we're all in the same boat right now we're in

00:52:47the 60s and over and you know what we're owning it and that's what i found with the women they are

00:52:53embracing who they are i understand you know you understand oh definitely me too bunions yeah

00:52:59tell me a bit about yourself she had like you know i didn't get to red carpet with you well i'm a

00:53:17doctor and i've been in the military for a long time oh really out now i've lived all over the world

00:53:22i've lived in england ireland saudi arabia america gee wow do you have children yes i do yeah i've got

00:53:30three children and two step children okay and uh i'm a widow yeah i'm a widower i'm really sorry to

00:53:39hear that about yours i'm a widow twice twice wow so sorry wow yep and that's um how long ago was

00:53:51your last five and a half years five and a half yeah and the other one 26 years ago when my kids

00:54:03yeah well my kids were tiny when my wife passed 14 years ago yeah okay yeah what what was the elements um

00:54:13um my first husband was a test pilot uh and he flew military fast jets and he died in a crash at 31.

00:54:21wow and my second husband was military pilot as well and he died of cancer my wife died of cancer

00:54:31yeah yeah um green cancer yeah it wasn't easy no no definitely she she fought she fought quite hard

00:54:39so did my husband yeah but i get to be that person that gets to tell you what's worse

00:54:46yeah fast or slow and slow is so much worse

00:54:51so anyway we had a bit of a shared moment about some of the difficulties that we both experienced which

00:54:59is interesting because my adult children have said to me mum we think that you'd be better off with

00:55:05a widower because people don't understand what you've been through and maybe someone who has

00:55:11wood and so i was actually a bit surprised because i didn't know that about him and i felt a connection

00:55:19and and a sorrow and a joy at the same time i actually just wanted to hug him so but here we are here we are

00:55:27just living life i have been living life yeah and you yeah trying to yeah i'm becoming an empty

00:55:36empty nester so it's uh it's time to put me first for a change yeah absolutely yeah to lose a partner

00:55:43is devastating for kim she's lost two partners and suffered tremendously i could certainly relate

00:55:53it's very difficult to be vulnerable again to trust again and to love again
